Sheesh! I spelled countdown without the first "o". Sure glad I noticed!
Practically recovered from my almost week away although my house doesn't look it. Spent yesterday running around town with three banks to receive deposits and a major shop in Town - not food but household things and some gifts. Bed sure felt good last night.
This morning I'll lug in the shopping and do some sorting and maybe some wrapping. I do have to work this afternoon at the grocery store parking lot collecting food for the local Food Bank and then will go to Heather's house for the first of the Christmas celebrations. (I sure hope someone is working the Town Hall Gift Shop tonight but am afraid to ask!) Heather's two boys go to their Dad in Newfoundland this year so she is having her Christmas Dinner tonight. I'm hoping she does give me the turkey carcass as promised since I would love turkey soup.
Our heat wave continues! It was 60ºF yesterday afternoon and a dandelion bloomed behind the barn! Above normal temps are predicted for the next two weeks with no snow happening until Christmas Day. I can't believe this. Last year we had already had four weeks of winter by this date. We may end up with just two months of winter - a nice change.
I'd better quit babbling and crank up the day! Have a good weekend.
Thanks for getting us started, Ruth! I'm envious of your weather right now. We are getting the start of our snowstorm, as predicted. I hope you get some of your presents wrapped today and have a wonderful Christmas dinner tonight!
We finished our project last night about 8:30 PM. Tenants were able to come home. They were very gracious through this whole process and I feel confident that this rental won't have another problem for a while. Thank goodness.
We have family coming in tomorrow night. My nephew and his wife from Michigan. I will be working for two of the three days that they are here but I need to get my house cleaned up for possible after work visits. It's mostly clutter from the past few days as I ran in and out and accumulated dog hair. Fortunately, after what I've just been through this seems like an easy chore.
My parents left this morning to head back home atleast I don't have to worry about snow or ice for them driving.
I am getting adjusted to the meds for my back and am trying to minimize during the day and only take full dose at night and first thing in the morning and that seems to be working. I will be glad to here from doc when I get start PT so maybe I can get off meds completely then.
Today will be slowly organizing house back into order and I need to make a run to Sam's for baking supplies for cookie exchanges and such for work and neighbors. I am thankful for still staying op for the most part other than a bite or two off plan and the scale s rewarding me.
Ruth that would have made for an interesting title haha
Debbie so glad the project is done and I have been watching the weather. If you are in Glenwood when we come, would love to get together for a lunch again.
Good Sunday morning! Wow, it's hard to believe it's mid-December here with temps in the 70s this weekend! I'm certainly not going to complain, though.
Yesterday morning, just as I was getting ready to post, Santa made his pre-Christmas visit through the neighborhood to remind everybody to be on their best behavior, and the day just took off from there. We had our Red Hat Christmas party at noon, and that lasted most of the day and was a lot of fun, and I won the prize for the funniest Christmas sweater. We also got our pottery back from the ceramics session we had in November, and all of our stuff looks wonderful. I am especially pleased with how the soup mug I made turned out. I'm looking forward to using it a lot during the winter!
Today is reserved for baking Christmas cookies, but first I have to go pick up a few items at the store. I'm only making 3 kinds of cookies this year, but we get so many visitors over the holidays that I like to set out something for them to munch on.
Oh, oh! I'm being called elsewhere! Have a great day, everyone!
Linda, I welcome the weekend in the 70s right now! It's pretty darn cold here. I've been out drinking coffee and make a triple batch of granola to get out to extended family. Having that last cup now before I had to work. I've already been to moms to sweep her back sidewalk off and I swept my car off before I came in so hopefully the remote start will get me going and it will be busy but not too complicated day at work.
Coffee is sooooo good this morning. Yes, the Keurig is working once again - I think putting it in time-out worked!
Debbie, we have another spring-like day although we are to get rain this afternoon. Suits me fine - particularly when I've yet to find my winter boots! (Maybe they'll show up when I pull out the rest of the Christmas decor - ya think?)
The party at Heather's was fun last night - so nice to be with my favourite people - except for Linda, of course. The only disappointment was that there was no turkey! Heather's kids decided they wanted turkey with their Dad on The Day in Newfoundland. I guess I'll have to make chicken soup and throw in lots of sage!
Did not get any wrapping done or lights up yesterday but today may be THE day. I am invited to Joan's for lunch and suspect she has a gift for me. Unfortunately I've not yet picked up hers. Although I don't like to do Sunday shopping, I may pop into a store on the way there to get her something. (It's Kilborn's, Linda, with the $300 short sleeved cotton blouses! I just may settle for a gift card since I just don't have the same $$$ taste as my sister.)
I'm hoping to be home mid-afternoon when Heather and Jack, the 6'7" teen, are coming over to replace my pot lights and do my outside lights.
We'll see what else gets done. I have a meeting tomorrow afternoon with my so-called investment counsellor to get a few end of the year things settled. Methinks I should keep the remains of the week completely clear.since Michelle comes Thursday and I need to be decorated before she cleans.
Babble! Babble! Babble! The coffee must be really strong this morning.
Good morning Yesterday was very busy so today is starting slow and leisurely for me (not DH, he is already at work).I definitely have some chores to do, maybe a little savory baking, and some errands, but nothing needs to be done this second. Cricket is enjoying sleeping in too
Ruth - We are enjoying the warmer weather here too. After the last couple of winters, I am not complaining. Hoping it's still warm enough on Christmas for a bonfire. A full moon bonfire on Christmas sounds good to me
Debbie - Happy family visit
Cottage - Happy baking! I keep baking and giving cookies away. I love to bake but don't like them sitting around here (or around my hips!).
Rose - Back meds are so challenging. Hope they are helping
Off to find a good pumpkin pie recipe. I roasted some pumpkin and squash, might as well enjoy some now
Well, it's a bit of a tough weekend for DH - his mom passed away yesterday. I think I mentioned before she was end stage Alzheimer's, so it was expected, and a blessing. He got the call while he was hunting yesterday, then came home, packed up and left. The funeral is Tuesday, I expect him to stay a couple days beyond that, so maybe he'll be home at the end of the week? (He'll go nuts if he stays too long...) We didn't go with, since I'm not doing great and the kids can't miss that much school.
DD's sleepover was a hit, and I'm glad only 2 of the 4 girls could attend - it was a perfect number. Thank goodness it made it easier to clean up after.
Today I need to plan out the week and just take it easy . I did buy stuff to make black bean salad, which my kids *adore*, so maybe I'll get that taken care of.
Well last night was a quiet one, DH went to a basketball game, DD2 went to a sleepover and DD1 worked. I just sat and watched sappy Christmas stories on Hallmark .
I did get to Sam's club to buy some bulk Christmas cookies supplies. Today I need to make a run to the next town to pick up DD2 and final supplies so I can start cookies today. DD2 will help she loves to bake. DH went to football and DD2 is sleeping she works again tonight. House is quiet without my parents.
The appeal for DD2 is this week on the 16th. so say good thoughts for her
Debbie is it bad that I wish we had some of the snow you are having? I hope everything goes smoothly for you today.
Hi everyone. After 2 long and busy days our robotics event is over, except for packing up the supplies which will happen tomorrow afternoon. I think the kids had a great experience but I'm ready to have my afternoon's back. (Hope that doesn't sound too selfish)
This morning I went to BJs for supplies; DH was hoping to find a roast for Christmas but we decided to hold off since we didn't find the right one. Still I managed to fill the frig for this week. With the warm weather DH offered to do burgers on the grill tonight.
Cottage, sounds like a busy but fun day yesterday!
Cyndi, every weekend should have 1 slow day.
Tammy, sorry to hear about your MIL.
I have laundry in, I think it might be time for a nap while I wait....
