Default Friday SBD Chat, Dec. 26

Good Morning

Thought I'd get us started since I'm up! It sounds like everyone had an enjoyable day yesterday. I hope today is a "day off" and we don't have to be heading in to work.

We had an laid back day....hung out at home until heading into town for a meeting. Got invited several places and did decide to stop at one. It ended up being an enjoyable time and we just came home and went to bed early (Why I am up). Today is pool and meeting and I don't know what else. We'll just see what the day brings.

Stop and chat

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, Debbie, and Beachers to come. I was up at 5:30 and have done nothing since but sip coffee (with two dogs snuggled in), admire the Bling Tree and think about the Boxing Day Letter I always write to myself. I keep hoping doing this will help me avoid the little things that stress me out every Christmas season - like losing the tree stand and forgetting to put the shrimp platter on the Eve buffet table.

Yesterday was lovely! I went to Kemptville for "brunch" which was really just a delightful little lunch of Jim's MIL's meatball soup, some bread and a glass of wine. We sat and chatted in peace and quiet until the rest of the crew arrived. It was fun to see everyone and see how the kidlets had grown.

Then I drove home to Claire and Doug's place for yet more kids and people in my adopted family and the usual delicious and fun Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. I was very, very tired - not from wine - and sure was glad to hit bed by ten.

Today I'll continue the past Eve tidying - so glad I hand-washed the champagne flutes yesterday morning! I'm planning to stay in my jammies until noon! Going to Rachel's annual Open House this afternoon and will change into something more festive for that occasion. Tonight will be very quiet unless someone drops in for a visit - maybe I'll keep the lights off in the front of the house! Just kidding! I do love company.

Yes, time for a day off. Today is the Second day of Christmas and it may be just a tad noisy when the two turtle doves start hollering.

Good morning! I've been up for a while, sipping my coffee out on the sunporch with Jake and enjoying the peacefulness of watching the sun come up. We have a houseful of kids and grandkids, and people sleeping where ever they could make a bed.

We had a lovely day yesterday, starting with a gourmet brunch at Monica's, then everyone came back here and what I had thought would be a small, quiet, dinner, turned out to be a boisterous affair. Thank goodness I always make more food than I need, so there was plenty, and everybody decided to spend the night.

I don't have any set plans for today, but we may venture out later to check out the sales. And I have to swing by Dad's to do his meds for the week, but other than that, I'm looking forward to a quiet day.

It sounds like everyone had a great day yesterday, and better yet...a nice and calm day today!

We did enjoy our dinner with friends last night, both of us said it make it a little more special than just another family dinner.

Today DH wants to go chop wood, and DS is actually willing to go with him! I may make myself some chicken rice soup, but I'll ask DH to cut up the chicken first for me. My legs have been pretty weak the last couple days, so I'm going to take it easy otherwise. Hard to believe I walked out of work over 3 weeks ago!?!

Good morning,

We also had a nice day yesterday, we did not go to the movies like we normally do but since we woke early we went to bed early.

Today on the agenda is laundry, picking up rental and packing. We leave tomorrow as soon as DD1 arrives home from her overnight shift. Looking forward to spending time with my BFF starting on Monday as we meet up at our lodging.

I made myself get on the scale today so I that I can mentally make myself accountable for my food choices.

Enjoy your day chickies!

Ahhh coffee and quiet time, how I enjoy this. Christmas was chaotic lol. DS slept in and complained of joint pain (funny when his friend Chris stopped by at 10 last night he was just fine. DS went to his dad's and I to my sister's. I was running about 5 minutes late because of a lovely visit with my neighbor Jim. I really have wonderful neighbors. My brother and SIL were late and I mean late. We were supposed to have dinner at 1 (for some reason they made the dinner). They didn't get there until 3:30. I needed to leave at 4 because Joe was coming to my house at 5. My sister made me a to go plate. I felt so rude leaving, but truthfully try BIL tends to drink too much and was very loud and so was his music. When my brother, SIL and 3 more arrived I was getting a serious headache. Being exhausted from the day before didn't help matters. Joe calls me at 4:20 to say he is at my house. Yup he beat me home. Again I felt rude. We exchanged gifts, ate cookies and chit chatted. My favorite part of the day

Today I am staying put. I need to get laundry done and get my Class A uniform set for the funeral tomorrow. I have a new toy for my bike (it is an iPad / book holder) can't wait to try that out later.

Relax and recover day, enjoy it

Good morning

we had our Christmas dinner on the eve. Yesterday morning was so much fun watching grandsons opening gifts. The 2 year old got all sorts of toys but was fascinated by a box of candy. Today is clean up day. Very reluctant to put things away because in the last 3 days I have broken 4 glass items. Hope it means good luck. So now its thinking about new year's eve when we have more company.
I'm with Pearlrose about weighing in and being accountable.
hope everyone can relax today.
take care

Good morning.

I'm working today and both weekend days. I expect lots of returns. Not looking forward to it.

Yesterday I spent hours reading a book, which I haven't done in ages because of my genealogy addiction. DH and both fell asleep on the couches after polishing off the cookies that DS's girlfriend brought and the gingerbread that I made as my personal favorite holiday indulgence. SUGAR COMA! I haven't eaten that much sugar early in the day in so long that I had forgotten that it puts me to sleep!

Tonight we are going to a Boxing Day party. My goal is to NOT eat any crap, but we'll see.

Feels like Monday to me

Good morning! We got about 6" of fresh snow on the ground so our plan to drive down to Denver to pick up some clearance gift wrap at the Container Store (they have the absolute best paper - I think I'm addicted) had to be scrapped. Maybe we will venture down tomorrow and see if they have anything left. So...today I am going to sit down and work out some meal plans and shopping lists. DH has said he will do SB with me!! I'm pretty sure phase 1 will give way to phase 2 pretty quickly for him but having him along for the ride in any way will really help tremendously! I pulled out the SBD books and I'll start there for recipes and then check the boards here for some good ones.

I have laundry to do today and even though I'm off work until Tuesday I do have a sewing job to finish up for a restaurant - I make their uniforms for them - they are a farm style restaurant and I make pinafores for the girls and vests for the guys. That side money is our fun money. Which we are going to spend at the end of January when we go on a cruise! I would have loved to have been lower on the weight before then but we shall see how I do before we leave. We leave on January 30th so my goal is to lose about 10 pounds by then.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday! I'm going to go bundle up right now and go move some of that snow around and then it's time to meal plan!

Hugs,

Gabby

Welcome to The Beach, Gabby! I'm pleased to see you posting in our daily chit-chat, and admire you for jumping on the beach in the thick of the holiday season! My DH hopped on board with me when I first started eating the South Beach way, and it's pretty much been the backbone of our entire family's way of eating. (Holidays NOT included. ) Good luck to you and your DH, and you should be able to drop that 10lbs by the end of January!

Welcome Gabby

Had a lovely and relaxing day today. I did do a little work but just because my boss is heading to Iceland and we needed to talk about plans, work while she is away. I'm off the whole time but will be the go to if anyone gets in a bind/needs anything.

Now for a glass of wine and a piece of carrot pie (DH's specialty) and maybe a movie.
