Default Jumping into July on the Beach (july 1)

Good morning, y'all! I can't believe June is gone already. Did you say, "rabbit, rabbit, rabbit"? (I can still see my friend from high school spinning around...)

Today is my "day off"! At least, a day without pay. I have a ton of errands to do, and I need to mop floors as well. I hope I have lots of vinegar!

Eating went pretty well yesterday, no grains. Today will be much more of a challenge. I do have a ton (well, only 20 lbs) of blueberries, any ideas of grain-free things to do? (I could just eat them plain...)

May July be fantastic for all of us!

Good morning!

Hi Tammy! Thanks for getting us started this morning.
Blueberries with plain yogurt always sounds good to me. If I had 20 pounds I would be freezing some for my winter smoothies.

I'm sitting out on the front porch while the sprinklers run. It looks to me that it's going to be overcast today. Perhaps there is some rain in our future. I worked today and then we're going over the hill tomorrow morning for doctors appointments and pool time. I've been eating clean and with reduced calories since we got home from our trip in the scale is moving down. That's what I love about South Beach.

I better finish this cup of coffee and get going on my pre-work chores.

Have a great first day of July everyone!

Good morning,Tammy! Sounds like a busy day for you.
Hot and humid here today; I think I will do a little outside work early and then come inside to do paperwork. I spent the whole morning weeding and thinning perennials yesterday but there is more to do...

As for blueberries, eating them plain sounds like a start. After that I'd do yogurt, myself. We're eating local strawberries right now. Yum.

Have a great day, chicks! May your July be full of fun.

ETA: Morning, Debbie!

Happy July! I did remember, lol!

Tammy, first off, pop some blueberries into your overnight oats this morning. I do love eating them fresh the best. I found 2 gallon bags in my freezer from a year ago, so I'm not going to get a whole case of them this year. Enjoy your day off!

It's looking like rain here this morning, although the weather people say not. The girls want to come over here to swim with my DGD, Amber, this afternoon, so I hope the forecast is right.

I just picked some kale from my garden and am going to try it in my smoothie this morning. I usually put spinach in it, so the kale will be a first. All my spinach has bolted already, along with the lettuce. We're getting plenty of cucumbers, zucchini, and the ever growing chard right now, though!

Good morning, Beth! I keep asking myself why didn't I become a teacher and get the whole summer off!??? Our strawberry season is just about over down here.

Whoops! Good morning, Debbie! I almost didn't see your post!

We have a hot, hot, hot
Canada Day
ahead. It's already 80ºF. I wish we could save some of this for six months from now. The Village will be hopping today with Canada Birthday Party in the park with several bands. Tonight a group of us go over to Big Rideau Lake to board a friends large boat and sit on the deck sipping wine watching the fireworks. Sure hope the threatened T-storms are just an ugly rumour.

Jazz is spending most of his time goofing off on the couch or my bed. As soon as the AC goes on he moves to lie right on top of the vent! Kind of defeats the purpose. He's still on the long lead in the yard. I've found the hole - just need a strong friend to carry a cement block over there to block it. Maybe today?

Hmmm - blueberries. No fresh here yet but I will make a strawberry smoothies. The strawberries are particularly yummy this year.

Have a good day.

Good morning all. Not a blueberry fan so I am no help. I do love strawberries in plain Greek yogurt with a little grape nuts. I miss not having a veggie garden this year. Overcast and humid today, looks like it is going to rain, but forecast says no.

Up early for a follow up with the ortho. Working from 4pm to 1 am, what was I thinking lol. I really need to vacuum the doggie tumbleweeds, but not feeling motivated sigh. Maybe my coffee and smoothie will help

Good morning. I'm also not feeling like it's July already.

Twynn - I love blueberries and can eat them by the handful. I made a SBD coffee cake years ago and think the recipe came from here but was adapted by someone else from something else. Sorry I can't be more helpful. I do remember it had agave in it.

Linda - What kind of kale do you grow? DH is trying a small garden in pots and couldn't find kale seeds locally so had to order online. I had no idea there were so many kinds.

Yesterday I got the results from my MRI and I now have THREE diagnoses for my hip. The first x-rays showed tendonitis which the hip specialist didn't think was the cause of my pain. He thinks my main issue is impingement and I'm seeing his office's hip arthroscopic specialist tomorrow. But I also have bursitis. So my big question will be how do I know which is really the issue so which to treat?! And I'm going to push for every non-surgical treatment first.

Meanwhile the pinched nerve in my neck/arm isn't better and I have physical therapy for that again today. I'm wondering if with all the money I'm spending for medical stuff I should finally get some testing done for that too rather than just throwing money at PT and hoping it works again.

Yes, I am a mess. I keep thinking about my two very active trips coming up. Sigh.

Have a great day.

Good morning It's already sticky here. I guess we will need the AC on early today. We have fans in the river side windows and shades on the sunny side but I don't think that will be enough today. Turns out little dogs, like us, are healthier when they eat better. I've been making Cricket's food since the pancreatiits scare and she is doing so much better overall and with the heat this year. It helps that she has lost some weight too. AC will still make her day more pleasant.

Tammy - We love blueberries. I'm still working on strawberries but freeze lots of blueberries. We usually run out in late February no matter how many I have I love this recipe with any berries. There is a mixed berry version with a little lemon in the cheesecake layer. Bet that would be good with blueberries.

Debbie - I'm heading to my front porch as soon as I finish this post

Cottage- My greens were eaten by a sneaky woodchuck but the rest of my garden is happy. It's too early to pick anything but the farm stands are already loaded.

Ruth - fireworks from a boat sound lovely. You inspired me to make garlic scape pesto last night. It was the perfect spread on grilled polenta with grilled veggies.

Beth - There is always more to do

Jennifer - Clouds here too. Maybe it's just the humidity?

Sophie - the zucchini spread is made with fresh thyme but I'm sure it will be good with other spices. I'm going to experiment.

I've got another busy day ahead, visits up north than a candidate meeting in the south. After that I'm meeting with friends from my old job for a glass of wine at the Marina Time to get moving.

Good morning,

Busy day at work and then a swim meet tonight, I am working this one and the one on Thursday as well.

Tywnn I am not a fan of blueberries but have you thought about using Elana's pantry she has a recipe for blueberry muffins that I believe uses almond and coconut flour?

Debbie enjoy your day today

Cottage hope there is not rain today for your afternoon plans. I like Kale in my smoothies as much as spinach, I just don't put as much in it.

Beth I too am jealous when summer rolls around and think why didn't I become a teacher as well

Ruth Happy Canada day and enjoy the fireworks tonight

Jekel I am sure you will get motivated after your coffee and smoothie

Karen I feel for you as I am having some issues as well. My neck still gets stiff and now I have golfers elbow on the same side (somehow I think it is all related) and I think when I fell while running in Portland I aggravated everything plus my knee hurts if I put weight on it (like getting off the floor cannot use that knee to lift up). I have not gone to the doctor have just been doing the exercises I have found on youtube and bought a bandit brace and will see how that goes for now.

Cyndi how did the legislation turn out for you? Glad Cricket is doing better.

Time for the 8 a.m. call, Have a great day everyone!

Karen, the kale I planted is lacinato kale. I buy seedlings rather than messing with planting seeds.

Happy Canada Day, Ruth!

Cindy, I hope the legislation worked in your favor!

My smoothie turned out awful. I threw most of it out. Besides the kale, I used blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries, vanilla chai protein powder, chia, and almond milk. Blech! I won't use that combo again!
Our plans got changed. The girls had music lessons this morning, and we got back just in time for them to leave for Pony Club games practice. So I went and did a big grocery shop, and now I have several loaves of banana bread in the oven for the bake sale on Saturday. Tomorrow I'll make pumpkin bread and zucchini muffins, then freeze them til Saturday. It's 99° out, so thank goodness the kitchen is air conditioned!

Frustrating day with Internet problems but all is well now. I am about to shower, change into Indian cotton and go to dinner and then onto the Lake to see the fireworks. Yes, I do have a date! Don't tell the neighbours.
