Mmmmm, Debbie....how 'bout a coffee smoothie? I guess that would be somekindof macchiato mochachino or something like that . Hope work went well for you today.
Thanks for the coffee, Cottage! We have the slowest. coffee. maker. EVER, so I'm glad I was able to borrow a cup from you until ours was done.
Today is Saturday, and I don't work!!! I cleaned one level yesterday, and one level Wednesday, so does that mean I don't have to clean today? The exciting part though, is that I get to go see a John Denver tribute band tonight. Love me some John Denver! Since it's highly unlikely I'll see him in person (since he's dead and all), I figure this is the next best thing.
I work this afternoon. Then tonight DH and I are babysitting two of my nephews; they'll be spending the night here while their older brother has a sleepover party at home. DH has taken charge of dinner since he gets to use this as an excuse to get pizza and I'll find an excuse to eat something else.
Good morning. Had a nice evening at Joe's parents. NOT weighing myself today as it was food porn. Tammy I like the sound of a coffee smoothie. Might have to look into that.
I am home all day and thrilled. Going to cook up a storm for the week ahead. Chicken fajitas with green beans and retried beans. Pork tenderloin with butternut squash. Turkey stew for lunches. No cooking until after my smoothie and coffee.
Linda have fun with the kids.
Tammy enjoy your day off
Debbie hope work flies by
Linda hope you warm up soon
Ruth time to wake up
Hi to all the chicks still to come
Good morning. Book Club last night so I am a little the worse for wear this morning. (Actually it should be "worse for wine"!) I guess I'm out of practice.
The local Theatre Group is doing dinner theatre at the Town Hall tonight - I'm contributing my two large crockpots - empty! - for a beef stew making session this morning. The actors are teens but the rest of the crew is adults. My friend Rachel is the founder and really works her butt off. If the kids are not into sports, it gives them something interesting to do and they do a great job. This is the group that ran Delta's third annual film festival in August. See! Things do happen in a small town.
Not sure if Donna is coming or not today. Warning: never hire a friend to work for you as it's hard to replace them without hard feelings.
Time for a shower to get the brain and body awake. I have to open the Town Hall this morning since it's rented for a birthday tea/lunch from 11 until two. Then the kids bring in the set for tonight's play. (The museum manager and her kids are in Disney so I get the Joe jobs.)
Afternoon everyone.
Hit the road early to get DS1 from the bus; he came home from school for the weekend. It's nice to see him for a bit.
I'm loving the idea of a long weekend. Means that if I don't get much done today I can catch up on Monday!!
I think I will have to make a batch of bean muffins this weekend as well. I need to put together the week's menu and go grocery shopping. I will have to spend some time looking at new recipes.
It's cloudy and 43* right now but at least it isn't the white stuff. Yet...
I've got a long, busy day. Starting with the nephews who slept over. Then a first birthday for a great-nephew on the other side of the family which I'll leave early for an afternoon at work. And finished with dinner out with friends who couldn't go any other day this month.
Good morning! I finally got up after having a nice sleep-in. But I was awake most of the night so I deserve it.
Have a great day at work, Debbie, and I hope you're off by noon again today!
You sure sound busy this weekend, Karen!
I'm just having a quiet, relaxed, weekend for a change. Yesterday we worked out in the yard vacuuming and mulching up leaves, and we finally dug up and relocated a rhododendren that I'd been wanting to move for a long time. It's huge, and I sure hope it likes it's new home. It looks like today will be spent dealing with leaves again, as it looks like we didn't even touch them yesterday.
Good morning! Of course it's pouring rain here as predicted. Why is the weatherman right only when you don't want him to be?
The play last night was great but I did have to leave after the first act because my back was killing me. Luckily there's another show this afternoon and I will be able to catch the rest of it.
This morning I have to lay a wreath at our Village cenotaph on behalf of the Mill. The man who used to do it all the time is extremely unwell. Stew will watch it from his front window though.
Speaking of "stew" I am up a pound or so from the dinner they served. Actually it was buffet so they didn't serve it. Nothing can be more carby than a beef stew made with peas, carrots, turnips and Guinness beer! I shall have to be abstemious today. Good thing I made a wonderful chicken soup yesterday.
Disney just barked to be let out. It took her five years to learn to do that. I'll catch up later. Enjoy your Sunday.
Good morning, chicks! I seem to have just lost my post so here goes again...
Ruth, it is pouring here as well but I have decided I would rather have cold rain than the that we know is coming soon. Sorry to hear your back is acting up again.
Debbie, I think the best part of going to work early is getting out early. Hope you have a good day!
Cottage, enjoy your quiet time and good luck on those leaves!
Karen, hope your day is fun-filled as well as jam-packed.
Not sure what is on the agenda today. I will probably pick away at the weekend niggles I didn't do yesterday: groceries, laundry, cleaning. I'm thinking they need a nickname or acronym of some sort. Are weekend niggles "WN" or just "wiggles"?
Good morning chicks - my coffee maker is being painfully slow, this is when I'd rather use the keurig (if it weren't so darned expensive).
THe concert was awesome last night, although I'll never get front row tickets at this theater - I'm pretty sure if he had eaten greens before the show, I would've seen them in his teeth .
But the bad part is I came home, and Gordon (my orange and white kitty) wasn't using his leg. I brought him to work since he was so painful - and turns out he threw a clot and went into heart failure . I'm still a bit numb yet devastated. I guess having 4 senior cats, this is bound to happen. Average prognosis is 77 days, but we'll see if he's one of the weird ones that live way longer. I can hope.
We have a pot luck at church, then we were going on a hike. Considering I barely slept (what kept you up all night, Cottage?), I'm not sure I'm up to that.
Tammy, I just can't seem to turn my mind off at night, and that's what keeps me awake. Funny, tho, that I can easily doze off when I want to catch a program on TV or read. Maybe I'd get a better night's sleep if I just slept on the sofa with the TV on all night. I'm so sorry to hear about your Gordon. I know he had a good life as one of your family, and I hope his remaining days are painfree and comfortable for him.
Beth, that 4-letter word is starting to be mentioned here, too, but now it's been taken out of the forecast for the week.
Ruth, I hope your back is better for the wreath-laying today. It must be stew weather as Jake asked for stew for today's supper. He likes it made with biscuits baked on top, the way his mother always made it. I'm going to make spinach/ricotta tortellini soup for me, and that will give me leftovers for the week, too.
