Default Back to the Only Thing That Works....

Hey all,

I lost 20lbs a couple of years ago on South Beach, but recently my weight has been sneaking on up again. Too much celebrating and eating out, I think! I've also been reading a lot about primal/paleo diets and although I do think the science behind them is sound, it's always been easier for me to drop weight when I focus on limiting fats. South Beach is such a comfort because I always know it will work and it takes a lot of the second guessing out of eating.

Going to do a clean, 2 week long Phase 1 starting tomorrow with the hope of getting down to 135 at the end of 2 weeks (-10lbs). Once I get to 135, I'm going to buy myself a Garmin forerunner! https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=142&pID=107143

I am in the last days of phase 1 on the SB and had a few minor cheat days. I like how u say 2 clean weeks, because i think i need to start all over as i snuck in an ice-cream cone last night, and a couple of fries. I was feeling at an all time low. I may be on phase 1 for a while, until i hit my first weight loss goal which is 12lbs. I lost 2 so far and didn't think that was significant which caused me to get depressed and have the ice-cream. But i've resolved that i won't give up just yet!

caramelicious! While everyone loses differently in Phase 1, if you stick to it faithfully with no cheat, it's very possible that you will lose those 12 lbs and achieve your goal. I love the fact that you're not giving up, and with a healthy dose of , you can do this. Be sure to post often and join us in the Daily Chat. Welcome back zestfest! I do basically south beach, but am starting a little more hard core today as well. FYI - I'd be surprised if you lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks the second time around, esp. when you don't have much to lose. Maybe you will, but don't get down if you don't!

Glad you're joining us caramel! This really works if you stick with it. Most of us here really feel checking in daily helps, esp. to visit at the "on plan" thread to get ideas.

I hear ya about realistic expectations, TwynnB. The only reason I think the first 10 lbs should come off relatively easy is because I only put 5 of them on the past week or so... I almost feel like it's not "real" weight - just bloat from too many carbs. But we'll see!

Off for a 5 mile run and some sprint repeats to start the Monday burn off right. :-)

I have decided I will start South Beach Ph 1 again, this weekend (payday Friday and need to do a big shop!)

I am going to Mexico in under 2 months, and I can't believe (actually I can lol) I have put it off this long. I really want to loose at least 10 pounds before I go on December 8th 2012. I hope I can do it!

same boat here two I have gain so much weight the last days , I am in 147 wanted to be in 137 in a month Nov 14, are you a runner , I just did my second marathon yesterday, so Starting today on phase 1, good luck .

Hey wfonseca! Yeah, I do run quite a bit. I'm training for a marathon in December and my long run on Sunday (13.5 miles) was not fun after being on P1. Have been working on adding more dairy and beans to re-carbify myself, haha.

I think I'm down a few pounds this week. Nothing super dramatic, but I guess since I eat this way most of the time, I can't expect anything too radical. No binges this week which has been great. I also went out last night and didn't drink a drop... or even really feel the need to!

Good luck whit you training. I went from 147 to 141.6 from monday to friday, but I eat no phase 1 friend food during the weekend. Going back to phase 1 tomorrow.

I usually have big losses like that Monday to Friday too, but this week only down 2 pounds. Still, focusing on more important things - no binges, getting back that feeling of being full very easily, etc. I've been running a lot and think I'm gonna take today off.

Told you, I weight today 144.4 at lease is less than last monday. So that will leave me whit a lose of 2.6 , which is ok. Now I have to be on plan for 5 more days. Today I did 2.5 miles, I want to try to do around 20 miles a week the rest of the year so I can reach my 1000 miles in a year. Have a nice rest day.

So energetic today - I think I may end up going to a spin class instead of resting. Have a good feeling that I'll get back into the 130s this week. :-)

I love those days where you have energy extra...enjoy your spinning class.

When is your oficial wi, my is on mondays, i am planning to do phase 1 monday to friday and saturday and sunday no limited on the kind of food just, portion control. I know this is not the correct way to do, but I m goin o try.

My official weigh in on Mondays as well, but I'm back to weighing myself every day. Just keeps me honest.

Down to 141 today, yay! Goal is still to get into the 130s during this weekend. I'm doing P1 still, but with a glass of wine or a light beer most nights instead of a sweet treat like hot chocolate. So much more satisfying!

I seem to do well as long as I avoid grains and fruit and don't go nuts with dairy. Or nuts with nuts, for that matter. :-)
