Default Day 1 done

Hey there!

I'm new to SBD, but not new to the forum or dieting. I've mostly done low cal diets, & have done quite well. Since having my daughter, I lost 30lbs, but can't seem to move past this hump. I am wondering if maybe my body isn't processing carbs correctly anymore, & that low carbing will help. Anyway, I'm done with Day 1 & I feel awful. I'm extremely tired & dizzy. Is this normal or common?? I've done Atkins a couple of times in my life, & I don't remember feeling dizzy - tired, yes - but not dizzy.

Thanks for reading!

Have you read the book?

SBD isn't a low carb diet. It's a good carb way of eating. Yes, what you are feeling is normal when you are trying to rid the body of processed sugars and foods. DO a search of the threads for "SBD Flu" and you can do some reading up!

to The Beach!

Many people experience the symptoms you describe on their first few days of Phase 1, but this can be avoided. Include some legumes (beans) in your daily menu, along with at least 2 cups of dairy, and make sure you are eating at least 4 1/2 cups of veggies every day. Beans are full of the good kind of carbs that we eat on this plan, and your body will love you for it.

Good luck, and we look forward to getting to know you!

It's normal and from what I've read you should start to feel better in a couple of days.
I definitely suggest that you read the book. SBD is radically different from Atkins. I just read the book, it's a fast read and has so much useful information.
Even though you feel like crap right now hang in there, you'll be happy you didn't give up in no time.

Welcome! I'm a Coloradoan with duel residency. I'm part time on the Eastern Slope and part time on the Western. I know the stretch of road between Idaho Spgs and Glenwood Spgs quite well.

Hang in there it definitely gets better!

Thanks for the welcome!!

I haven't read the book - I've been researching it mostly on the web. Guess I'll go find the book today. I ate some cottage cheese yesterday to get my dairy in, so I thought that would help a bit. I'll be getting some beans today =)

Thanks again!

Happy Sunday!
