I have been very tired for the past two days, starting around lunch time. Is this a common experience during phase one? I am wondering if it is the lack of sugar in my diet. I used to eat a lot of processed food with plenty of hidden sugar. I do not remember reading about this in the book. I have slept well for the past two nights. I notice I stay asleep all night.
Side note, does this forum have a spell check? I haven't seen one.
I also felt very tired for the first probably 3-4 days of Phase I and like you had previously eaten a lot of processed carbs. I also had a terrible headache and just didn't feel "right", but I stuck with it and by day 5 was fine-everything (all negative effects) went away at the same time and I felt much better!
Hope this helps, and good luck!
I originally found myself really hitting the wall in the afternoon and feeling exhausted. Having some yogurt seemed ot really help- just 1/2 a cup of plain yogurt with a splenda packet and a smidge of vanilla. The natural sugars and bit of protein seemed to charge me right up. Now, I'm fine with or without it, but it was a lifesaver for me for awhile.
Just edit your post for spell check. Your body is just adjusting, it'll clear up.
Sometimes you hear that called the South Beach flu. It is pretty common. When you type a response you should see red underlines if something is misspelled.
I found protein and lots of water made that feeling last less time.
Hi! I am new here and very happy to have found this forum and site.
That being said, I am almost finished with my Phase I (we did it for a week longer because we had a late joiner to the diet group) and I did not feel TOO bad, but once in a while I do get tired. I have discovered that I do not crave sweet stuff too much until after lunch. After lunch work slows down, and I have time to be bored.
To kind of counteract this whole thing, I make sure that I have plenty of water and soy nuts. I dunno why the soy nuts work because they are slightly salty but they do. Maybe it is because I can just kind of crunch on them and keep my mouth busy.
lazylioness, we want an introduction please?
Hi. Sorry. I have introduced myself all over the place and apparently forgot this one HAHA.
What would you like to know?
I am a mother of 3, 37 and making a lot of changes in my life. This one is just the most recent but for sure the hardest!
Wibbly- Can you post a few menus? Some fatigue is normal but many of us have found that getting enough dairy and eating beans really helps.
Cyndi,
Yesterday's menu was a bean muffin(recipe from this forum), peanuts for a snack, salad with rf cheese, tomato, turkey and low sugar Italian. Dinner was a lasagna stuff bell pepper. I had a rf cheese stick for my afternoon snack, before dinner. I had a glass of milk before dinner and ff half and half with my morning coffee. I have had a hard time squeezing in enough veggies. I picked up some V8.
I have to have my sodium checked next week. I have an ongoing low sodium problem(hyponatremia) due to a medication I am on. It could be low sodium. I have hypothyroidism as well. It could be a sign of an imbalance.
