We made it to Tahoe-it took 16 hrs. Everything was really different in the dark but we ran into Kirks cousin's first thing. Got the pups settled and went across the street for Thai food.

My good friend Jane is going with me to visit my mom today. They're quite fond of each other and Jane hasn't seen my mom for a while so we're all looking forward to the day. I'm especially pleased to have company on the drive back and forth (about 8 hours driving time - a short ride for Debbie and Kirk ). Jane heads to FL for the winter next weekend so we're both anxious to get as much visiting in as we can before she leaves.
I'm planning to be strong and eat on plan no matter what my mom and Jane eat, but I'm out of practice. While I was maintaining I'd eat a little of whatever was around each time I visited and then just be more mindful of what I ate when I got home again. I don't think I'll loose much weight on that system though. I've got some veggies and v8 for us to munch in the car, I made SF peanut butter cookies to have with our tea at Mom's, and I added chia seeds to my oat bran this morning. I guess I'm prepared to battle temptation, eh?
We are on our way to vacation, or will be in 2.5 hours when all the last minute details and packing are done! Anyone want to drop in for a visit at the beach??

I am on "vacation" today and may even turn off the computer. First a soak in the tub and then a quilt show at the Lyndhurst Turkey Fair, a village festival in the next town. My sister and I are having lunch and a time to catch up. We've not seen each other since early July - and she's only 20 minutes away! Dinner tonight will be at friend Barb's place - it's her birthday and her DH is doing a "shore dinner" which should be fun. We will pretend Delta Creek is the shore of the ocean.
Some great stuff planned for y'all gang! Debbie, I adore Thai food but have only had it once! Gotta change that ration. Ruth, I woke up a minute before you posted, lol. I slept from 12:30-7:30, good times! Gonna go shower soon and eat some breakfast.
Yes, it has been a wacky weekend for me, not in a good way Turns out my blog got some virus that affected many. It is supposedly fixed, but not without stress (and eating, sigh). Today we are babysitting our 4 year old nephew all day. I am sure I will be worn out! I also have to bake cookies for dinner at friend's. I am sub-contracting my teen to babysit for a couple hours so hubby and I can get our bike ride in. Poor teen had to get up early to shoot a segment for his "news" show.

Karen- I really enjoy your blog! I sure hope its fixed... I can only imagine the stress... I tried to start one, well, I did start one but its been sitting in the same spot for some time now... I have lots of recipes but I just haven't updated it with them... I shall do that this fall/winter
As for me, we have some company coming this morning, well, my parents and we're putting my DF to work! lol, I have outlets that need to be changed but I am going to have him show me how to do it so I can change the rest of them in the house(I love being a handy(wo)man) Ive also got a leaky faucet in the kitchen I need to learn how to tighten... Ive asked them to bring the pressure washer so I can borrow this week since it looks like it will be dry for a few days, I want to wash and seal our aggregate driveway and also maybe the deck-I know thats not ideal but I just need a temporary fix until I can replace it in the spring when I am working again. of course, I won't have the time then-lol Well, I guess I better get moving. I need to pick up a card for DMIL she has mentioned her Bday the last three times I talked to her so I am pretty sure I at least need to send her a card... I also want to pick up some grapes so I can serve appetizers while the 'rents are here- I want to make vegan waldorf chicken salad. yum. I also bought them some cheese in Wisconsin- a cranberry wensleydale, I will serve that too... I was thinking with triscuits... Will be hard to resist but I do like to show my appreciation with food. LOL I think we will pick up PFChangs for dinner, they enjoyed that soooo much the last time they were up... I think I will just have some eggplant. OK, hope I didn't make anyone drool. I apologize if I did! I get a little long winded so I better get to it! Hope yall have a great saturday!

However, my two year anniversary is about a week from now ;0) Been married two years but together close to 12.
Hello ladies, sounds like lovely weather all around and I am really so jealous of Cyndi, I may take her up on her offer to visit her at the beach.
I got out and got the marketing done this morning and chauffeured the kids to and from riding lessons. Soon I will motivate myself to start cleaning. DD2 was asked to babysit tonight, her first gig, but she is not 13 yet. She's had the training and will do a good job, but I'm going to make DS go with her, as he's 14, to make it all legal. They're both unhappy with me now LOL.
DH is going to a BBQ this afternoon at a friend's house. He is dreading it because he will need to have an awkward conversation. Our neighbor, a 60-something widowed lady, has taken to sleeping in her car. We have adjoining driveways, so we can see her in there every morning. When we approached to ask if she was okay, she sat up and drove away quickly. She is odd. But he is friendly with her grandson (BBQ), so we think her family might need to know, as it's been going on for several weeks now.
Tomorrow DD2 is coming over for cooking lessons. She wants me to teach her some South Beach recipes. And my niece will be bringing her wedding dress by for some alterations. I will be nervous just having it in the house.
quick stop...went to breakfast and made good food choices-lots of pastry I didn't touch
on the way to lunch....will make good choices again.
I was at my largest when we were here for the 2003 reunion. I am so pleased to be on my weightloss journey there is no reason to oink out on food I wouldn't eat, otherwise. I'm tired today, but havin' fun. Thanks, all, for the kind wishes!
