  • Good afternoon, ladies. I hope you all are having a nice, relaxing weekend and I hope you're having some fun for me since I'm stuck at work all weekend.

It's been a fairly quiet weekend compared to the last few (*knock on wood*) so let's hope it continues that way. Not a whole lot gets to me any more after 10 years on the job, but last week I had a full blown break down while off duty and cried on my mom's shoulder for a while. I guess it's good to realize you still have feelings, considering you tend to harden your heart after so many years just to get through some of the things we deal with. Anywho, I feel better now after a good cry...sometimes that's all you need, ya know???

And now I want some Thai food, LOL. I cheated the other day when we went to get out hair cut and we split some Pad Thai Chicken and some Angel Wings. OMG, sooooooooo good!!! And I had some lemongrass tea, which I had never had, and it was really good. I don't like lemon in my tea but the lemongrass was just a nice refreshing addition...I really liked it.

Anywho...that's all I have for now. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
  • A cheat does not a lifestyle break! Have a nice weekend.
  • I had a nap yesterday so I am not sleepy yet. Phase 2 begins today, yea! I will add back a banana in the afternoon with nuts. I will do this for 2 weeks, then add one more thing back till I reach 3 good carbs!
  • Good morning! So much for three days of !!! It's dull and on the cusp of rain right now, alas. Update: It's just fog that will leave soon!

Never mind - it was gorgeous yesterday. The shore dinner last night went well. There were about 40 people there and we raised $600 towards a chair lift for the hostess's church. That will make a huge difference for some of the elderly.

I got lots of ideas at the quilt show and snapped several pictures - until my battery went dead. When will I learn to carry extras? Joan and I had a good lunch - great chat but so-so food - and then I bought a new sewing machine! It's an Elna and has many more features than my Janome for less price. Now I MUST sell the other one that's only 18 months old. I really don't need three sewing machines!

Church this morning and then some desk work and outside work. I may even grill something for dinner - the season is leaving fast. It's dark by 7:30!

Make the most of your day - September is nearly 2/3 done!
  • Hi Ruth! Pretty quiet Sunday here. We slept in and need to hit the road soon. We're going over to see the rest of the family off, then we'll have some time to ourselves. We won't leave until tomorrow morning.
  • Good morning all! Foggy here. Trying to decide if we are biking or not. And hubby and I are also trying to decide which new TV series to record this week. Dilemmas. Working with my son on his college apps later today and not much else going on.

    Have a great day all
  • What schools are your son interested in, Karen? Good luck to him.

Thanks Okie. He has a long list but his top three are Syracuse, Duke and Northwestern.
  • Anywhere but Duke. I went to UMD-College Park and the Terps and Dukies are bitter rivals!
  • I am enjoying a glass of wine and winding down from 2 busy, fun days at the beach. Now it's just DW and I for at least a couple of days, mellow and relaxing. We had so much fun with DD and friends last night!

Karen - I am an SU alum!

Ruth - I wish you were close enough to check out that sewing machine. I've been thinking about getting another one.

Schmoodle - How long is the drive to Plum Island? We have space and wine

This place is everything we hoped it would be. Beautiful view, close enough to everything but not on the main road, and just right for the two of us and a few selected friends. We were up until 1:30 playing an Uno game that refused to end so it will be an early night tonight. Sweet dreams friends
