I'll admit it, I used to have a sugary drink infused with caffeine now and then or a chocolate bar (before starting on the beach )...but damn I feel off today with the lack of sugar/carbs that normally is in my diet in terms of fruit, bread ect.
A couple of quick suggestions (theoretically I'm working )
Are you eating beans and lf dairy? Both will help keep your blood sugar stable and help you avoid some of the SB flu.
It might help to post your menus on the main Phase 1 thread for feedback too.
I don't think you are doing yourself any favors having sugary drinks and chocolate bars, even just now and then. Especially in Phase 1, even just a little bit of sugar will really mess you up. If you are craving sweet, have a diet soda or a no sugar added fudgsicle. The sugar may be your problem, or at the very least making it worse.
Sometimes in the beginning of Phase 1, you can feel a little "off". It didn't happen at all for me this time around, but last time I did have a few weird feeling days. By the end of week 1 though, I was feeling fine.

I ment I ate sugary "stuff" now and then BEFORE I started south beach, perhaps I should have been more specific.
Well, in that case....did you say what day of Phase 1 you are on? As I said before, I didn't experience and problems this time, but last time I did SB, I had a few "off" days in the beginning. I am trying to think what I did differently this time. The only thing I can think of is that this time, I definitely worked hard to get the recommended amount of vegetables in. I think last time I did more cheese and nuts than I should have and definitely didn't get near enough vegetables.
Lots of people suffer from the "SB flu" - a variety of symptoms including what you mention. I hate to say it but for me... it was just a matter of getting through that few days then feeling tons better on the other side.
I found that eating lots of beans seems to help me. Probably because they are carb laden.
I had some weird days too. I definitely felt like I was withdrawing from something. The beans and dairy do indeed help, and drink a lot of water because that will help too. Hang in there! It only gets better.
