Good morning everyone! We wound up getting 7 inches of snow. The boyfriend and I went to a friend's house yesterday afternoon, and realized that we probably should have stayed in. I'm originally from Maine and the snow doesn't bother me, but even a light dusting here turns everything to complete chaos!

Getting ready to make some asparagus and lf swiss omelets for breakfast. Yummy! I'd like to catch a movie later, but nothing seems to spark my interest. Any suggestions?

I got lots done yesterday despite taking it easy most of the day. My office is in much better shape. I think that's why I couldn't get focused last week, the disarray messes with my head. This morning I'm going to do a good house cleaning, then more work in the office and getting ready for the week. I'm giving a brief Tuesday in Charleston, and haven't done much to prepare yet. I've got the slides, just need to think about what to say!

Tonight I'm going to make the cornbread casserole. I'm hoping the kids will like it too! when DH is away, it's hard to plan meals, as I end up with so much leftovers and eating the same thing all week. I've got to do some other cooking too, so I can pack some stuff to take on my trip.

Chelby, I am a donut fiend too. My DD used to gather at friends' houses before dances to get ready. She'd tell me to show up to take pix, and when I did, she wouldn't want any pix taken! So I've got lots of pictures of her looking gorgeous and pouting.
Enjoy the quiet Cyndi. I hunted for the Candy Cane Tea at Christmas. None of the stores around here seemed to be carrying the holiday flavors for some reason. I see they have it on Amazon, but I've got SO much tea already I should drink before I buy more. I haven't tried it yet, so I hesitate to order 5 boxes! I guess I'm kind of a tea junkie.
Okie, I'm sure you'll look great for the wedding. And your friend wants you there no matter what your weight, I'm sure! No fasting for me either. I find that planning seems to work better for me than fasting or praying when it comes to finances ... and most other things!
cottage, it is very pretty here too, but all I've done so far is look at it through the window. It is SO cold. I wish DH was here to shovel, he'd have it done already, but I guess I'll get out there in a bit and make the kids help me. Have a fun family day.
Heidi, glad your arm is better! More power to you on the donuts. They are one of my many weaknesses!
Good morning Kara, Pearl, and Waisting!

I'd better get to it before I lose my motivation! It comes and goes so quickly these days.

ETA: Oops, missed you Debbie and Pearl! Good morning!
And hello tinkin, I don't think we've "met" yet. I see we are not far from each other IRL!

Schmoodle - Count me in the tea junkie category. It's even worse because that discount store I shop at often had good teas for under $1.50/box. celestial Seasonings loves to change their boxes and every time they do I find the old boxes at the store for cheap. The Candy Cane was only $1.39/box and it's been missing from the stores around here since mid-December. At work my desk is next to the wall in a very old, uninsulated bldg so I drink lots of tea in the winter

Debbie - Good morning Hope it was a fun evening and worth staying up late!

Chelby - In the winter it always sounds lovely there but in the summer it scares me. It's so nice having you around here again girl!

tinkin - Sadly I don't even know what's out right now. Maybe you should go out and play in the snow instead

Heidi - If I'd had 2 like DD all my hair would be gray already. Broke a toe playing indoor soccer (apparently one of the boys was having a macho moment so she needed to demonstrate just how much better girls are. the wall kind of got in the way though she did get the ball first), broken wrist skating on the steps, stitches in her knee, fractured shin playing softball (competitive much?)... DW loves to tell people the story about the time I tried to hike a mountain with a broken ankle. The doctor misread the x-ray so I just thought it was sprained. Guess Tiff comes by it naturally My PT rolls her eyes at me at least once every appointment.

Good morning

So much postings this morning, sorry I don't have time for personals. I just want to say that yesterday was Hockey Day in Canada and CBC did a little documentary on hockey. I nearly fell off my chair when a mom stated that they spend about $25,000. a year on their son who plays minor hockey. So Kara, stick with the basketball.
Got to go and shower and still missing a few things for tonight's supper.
Have a nice on plan day
take care
Sophie

Hello Cottage - How wonderful to be surrounded by family

Heidi - Glad you are really on the mend. I'm sure those sleepy teens will appreciate your treat. Cold in my house too!

Cindy - Computer is up and running but it was a drawn-out frustrating hassle. Hours and hours and still not quite right... but getting there. Someone told me about a Belkin easy transfer cable - it did way more than I thought, including saving settings, bookmarks, documents, etc. My biggest loss was my old email program that is no longer available. Just saw the tea post. I used to dislike it but am drinking several mugs a day OP to keep from snacking. I ordered Celestial Seasonings online to get the holiday flavors, now out at the stores. I need to check a discount store - did you find it at a national chain?

Good morning Chelby - Kids grow up way too fast! Chili sounds good

Hello Debbie - The older I get the earlier I want to go to sleep! I am definitely a morning person, not a night owl. Have a good one.

Tinkin - No movie ideas for you... I admit we rarely go and so I don't even know what is playing. That is a lot of snow!

Schmoodle - You are a woman after my own heart - I feel the same about disarray and clutter. Too bad the 3 men in my life are the opposite. Try freezing some of the cornbread; I just did that with the taco casserole. Sometimes I really want to just reheat something fast and easy.

Happy belated Hockey Day Sophie.

Off for my boring elliptical exercise.

Morning

Kara- I am working on getting a degree in Business. I used to work as an LPN, but that wasn't a degree it was only a diploma. I decided not to work as an LPN and be a stay at home mommy. I didn't work for so long as an lpn that I never wanted to go back. I now work at a travel agengcy here on post. When I was in Germany I did the same job your doing now for the protestant church on post.

Okie- I like the name too. Your doing great on the woe. there are people who have hurt me in the past and you sound like you have had some hurt you. You just have to let it go and move on. Don't let that hurt fester inside you it will make you sick and miserable. We are here for you if you ever need to talk.

Cyndi- I love listening to you talk about food. I have learned about a lot of new things since being on here. Some of things you mention sound really interesting.

Heide glad the arm is better. I worked as a kindergarten aid and a secretary in the school once ds started school. You kinda need to be at 100 % to keep up those little ones. Those little kindergartners were a lot fun, but so busy!!

I think I am going to go to Winn DIxie today. We always shop at the commissary, but in the paper winn dixie had lots of buy one get one free sales even on meats. So, I might go check it out. DD spent the night with a friend, so her "baby" the black lab slept with me along with hubby and our jack russel.

Have a great sunday.

Sophie, My 16 year old niece is an equestrian. My sister pays about $1200 per month feeding and housing a horse, not including fees and outfits for competitions. They say she can get a college scholarship. I say they could pay for college with what they are spending. I'm way too practical for such things. We're sticking with baseball, too.

Cyndi, You scared of 95 degrees and 100% humidity?

Schmoodle, If Jeff were gone for months at a time, I'd have a hard time cooking anything more than cereal for Auston and me.

Morning all. Day 2 of homework - I have got to be better about doing the homework doing the week so I am not stuck inside all weekend.

Our bathroom window is leaking and the landlord is an idiot. The windows are rotted through and we lose heat like WHOA but now, with the leak, his quick fix is to knock the snow off the roof. Ugh. When DW finds out if she's getting laid off and if she's not, we are going to move, AGAIN. Just the thought of it makes me want to puke.

Fasting tomorrow from midnight until after the test at noon. I may not log in before-hand because I am going to be STARVING. Maybe I will just sleep in

Happy Sunday all.

Apparently the Universe loves a bargain. Yesterday I made a leap of faith and assumed that I could figure out how to use any variety of bean or lentil. I bought 12 lbs of urad dal. Today this recipe showed up in my Inbox Palak Daal Gotta love that And it looks fabulous. I'm adding it to the week's meal plan.

Karen - It's a local store unfortunately. There are a few stores over the border in NH that sell overstocks, closeouts, and some out of date stuff (all well marked) for at least 50% less than the store. The one I use gets a lot of food from the warehouse that supplies Whole Foods and the local co-ops so I find great stuff there.

While talking about our day this AM, we decided we were organized enough to blast off after church. We usually leave early Monday so I can get a full day in at work. It's usually a 2 hr drive, but later on Sunday the ski traffic can turn that into 4 or 5. We're already half way there and there was enough room for my new sewing machine so I'll be set for the week.

It was sure a busy weekend here, and I love that we have so many dedicated beachers taking the time to share lives while working on getting healthier. You all sure help me stay on track! I hope the weather doesn't goof anyone up for tomorrow. We're coming into Vail and it's snowing-no traffic yet, I think the lifts close at 330. We've beat the crowd. I'll lose my reception soon...

Cyndi - I just saw this recipe in my box and was going to send it off to you. I love that website and have subscribed to it for a long time.

So my beef bourguignon a la Julia is done, its in the oven for 3 hrs. Its been a while since I cooked from her book and my stomach almost turned when I saw all the instructions but one step at a time did it. I also made an orange almond cake using only almond flour and it can so easily be adapted using agave nectar, next time I will try making it that way. Hope DH appreciates it and my sons are coming over soon.
take care
Sophie
