Default Happy Hump Day Chat

Good morning I've got a full pot ready to share so pull up a chair and visit for a few before you start your day.

So this morning I get to be the proud Mama and brag a tiny bit Last night DD called to tell me she has volunteered to spend her 2 weeks of vacation in Haiti. She works at a Boston hospital that has a lot of Haitian staff and patients so the situation has been close to home for her. Apparently a doctor she works closely with is organizing a woman's group of medical personnel to work there. The doctor is Haitian and she and her sister are organizing the effort. DD isn't yet sure she will be accepted to the group but I'd be very surprised if she isn't.

Now to go drink some coffee and wake up a little

Good Morning

Hi, Cyndi. Thanks for getting us started. That is welcome news this morning. It is really great to see the outpouring of support for the Haitian tragedy. I hope your DD receives the answer she wishes for. I've been outside with Bing(snowy and cold) and have plunked down at my desk to continue my endless pile of paperwork. Thanks for the coffee...I'm sipping right now. BTW-my source is out of Anasazi beans, and I seem to understand that there was a bad crop last year...I'll check in Denver when we're over next week.

Good morning chicks!

Cyndi - that is fabulous! You'll have to give us an update on how it went for her.

Morning Lexiss and all to follow!

My DH's bday was yesterday, and I was reminded why we don't eat as many carbs now...I felt yucky last night! (him too!) I look forward to eating healthier today!

There is woman at my DD's daycare, that was going on and on about SBD...so I directed her to come here and join us! SHe's lost 16 lbs in 2.5 weeks, and feels so much better. The one thing she said is she's starting to have veggies she's never had (squash), so I thought this site would be even more useful.

YAY! Another sbd friend!

Have a great day y'all!

Good morning all! The coffee is certainly flowing here. I got up extra early as today was bill pay day, and I needed to just get it over with. Happily we have enough to cover everything. Cindy, what great news about your daughter. It is so great that so many people are pitching in here.

Twynn, that is so true about the veggies. I am really eating more, and different, veggies than ever before. Not just salad too.

We are planning a costco trip this weekend, and I'll have to make a list to make sure I don't go overboard, but it will be my first Costco experience since South Beaching it, so I'll definitely be referring to that recent thread.

Have a great day ladies!!

Good morning everyone! I'm running late already....but wanted to stop in and say Hello!

Cyndi- How wonderful I know you are proud! We have a Dr. friend that headed down yesterday. I think he went with Samaritan's Purse??? (not sure about that) I will remember your daughter when we pray for our friend Rhett!

Twynn- What a coincidence...my husband's birthday was yesterday, too. He is out of town however so we did not celebrate yet. I'm hoping when we go out to go somewhere SB friendly so that I can stay OP.

Good morning Lexxiss and McKellen and everyone else!

Happy Wednesday!

Good morning

Cyndi, that's awesome news about your DD. Whether or not she's accepted for the group the fact that she wants to use her vacation that way says a lot about her character.

We've been praying faithfully not only for the people of Haiti but for the relief workers, too. I can't begin to imagine the things they're seeing and having to do. I expect their lives will never be quite the same.

Hi Debbie, more paperwork today, eh? Good for you getting right on it.

Hi Twynn - I'll be watching for your friend's first post.

I'm pretty stiff and sore today - my back, my neck, my hip..... I feel like I aged 20 years in one day. lol The swelling went down some in my wrist overnight, though. I'm even attempting typing with both hands this morning.

Just previewed and I see more posts. Good morning Lisa and Mmck - enjoy your Wednesday!

Good early morning!

Cyndi - That is pretty special and well worth maternal pride

Debbie - Brrr. I don't think I have ever had those beans - which are they most like?

Twynn - I bet you are as inspiring to the daycare woman as you have been to me!

Mmc - Costco can be great. I even saw quinoa the other day but decided I need to try a smaller size first to see if I like it. Weekends mean lots of tempting samples!

Litar - Have a great day.

Heidi - Glad that your wrist, at least, is better. How about a heating pad for the rest?

My house is busy this morning; usually I am alone in the peace and quiet at this hour. DS2 has to be at school by 6:30 for a spirit week skit. Cycling and pilates for me, then the grocery store again. Fingers crossed that DH and I will visit our last store shopping for my new computer

Have a great humpday all! I'll be back soon to catch up.

Thanks for starting us up with your great news, Cyndi! You have every right to boast about that, and I hope she gets selected to go. And thanks for the coffee, too. I'm having a cup this morning to see if it agrees with me.

Debbie, a predawn walk in the cold, snowy morning would certainly wake me up! I hope you get to the bottom of that paperwork mountain soon.

Twynn, we'll be looking for your SBD buddy to join us here, and thanks for recommending us to her! I hope you feel better today after that partying last night!

Mmc, I've never been to a Cosco, the closest one is about 25 miles away. I've heard their prices are pretty good, though. I look forward to hearing all about your experience there.

Lisa, thanks for taking time to stop by on your busy morning! Have a wonderful day!

Heidi, I read about your scary fall yesterday, how awful! I hope you plan to stay home again today to let yourself recuperate. Do you think you should see a doctor to check you out? Feel better soon!

I'm starting to feel a lot better this morning, and even coffee sounded good. I almost skipped my workout but I managed to get all the way through it, and even improved my balance.

ETA: Good morning, Karen! I hope you have a successful shopping day today!
My Wednesday is looking pretty humpless, so there's no hurdles to get over. I hope your Wednesday is looking good, too.

Morning ladies.

Cyndi That is great about your daughter. I am not sure I could go there and help. It breaks my heart to see it all on tv so I can't imagine what would it would be like in person. Her just wanting to go shows that she is a very special person.

MMC- I have only been to costco once. We have a sam's club near us and I have been debating if I want to get a membership or not.

Heidi try and hot bath or the heating pad. Glad your wrist is better. Hope you can take it easy today.
Morning Litar and Karen and anyone else that comes in.

I have a nonscale victory. This button up shirt that I have been unable to wear because it was too tight. I wore it yesterday and recieved quit a few compliments on it.

Well hope you all have a wonderful day.

Twynn, hope you have a "good" carb day!

Mmc, I paid bills, too. Yay Costco!

Lisa,

Heidi, I hope you're staying home today-take care and get well soon!

Karen, Anasazi are similar to Pinto, only they have a bit better taste. I buy them because it's the "southwest" thing to do (they're grown near here) and they are Cyndi's fav. Hope you get your computer.

Cottage, it's not a walk-it's a freezing cold assessment of the weather while the dogs sniff around(YKWIM). Glad you're feeling better!

Tammie, yay for shirts that don't pooch open! That is such a reward!

Ok, I have to get ready to go to the gym-paperwork is looking good-I should get my serger today.
Ruth, I hope you're basement gets better not worse.

Have a great day and to everyone yet to come!

Cyndi, you brag all you want! That's an amazing thing for your daughter to do and I hope she gets the chance to help in some way. Good job, Mama!

Debbie, I'm sorry you couldn't get your Anasazi beans. Is Anasazi the name of a spider in some fables for children? I feel like I've heard that name before.

Tammy, I know what you mean about the yuck after eating off plan. It's a good reminder to stay on track!

Mmckellen, glad the bills are done! That's a big thing off the list I bet. Have fun at Costco!

Lisa, Samaritan's Purse is such a wonderful organization. We do a big charity drive through them every Christmas with our AWANA group. I hope your day slows down a bit!

Heidi, I'm glad the swelling in your wrist is down. I hope you're back to normal in no time flat!

Karen, I hope you find the perfect computer!

Linda, I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better!

Tammie, I'm sure you looked beautiful in your shirt! That is a huge victory!

I had a bit of an NSV myself today. I was walking on the treadmill and my shorts felt funny because they were a little loose. Then I realized I didn't feel bloated any more. Yay! So even when the numbers aren't moving, I still see some difference. I've been 100% on plan for over a week now and I'm feeling fantastic about it!

Connor's basketball practice is cancelled today because they're doing games at the gym so we have the afternoon off. We're going to try to squeeze in his violin now before we have to go get the girls and then he can do his math after we get back. Kadyn still has to do her math and then all three of them need to work on their AWANA verses. I'm hoping we can finish up before dinner so I can get them to try the games on the Wii fit. I think they'll get a kick out of them, and it will be a nice thing to do since we can't go outside for fear of freezing our tooshes off!

Time for some music...

Aha! Finally made it here before work and the chat rush! Thanks for everyone's kind words yesterday.

Cyndi: I'm so proud of your DD. You raised a wonderful woman!! I hope she gets selected. Keep us updated!

Debbie: Good luck getting all of the paperwork done! I hope you have a wonderful day.

Twynn: Yay for new friends!! The variety of veggies I've eaten since being on SB is pretty amazing after them coming from cans my whole life. I admit, though, that I do get very jealous hearing about some of the veggies the rest of you get at your grocery stores/farmer's markets/warehouse stores. Us remote SB chicks will unfortunately be missing out the rest of our lives. Sigh. Hope you had a great time celebrating DH's birthday!

Mmc: Oooh, have fun at costco! I've never been to one, but I assume it's similar to Sam's and we go there about twice a year. Have a wonderful day!

Litar: Good morning! Have a great day!

Heidi: I'm glad you're able to type today. I hope you continue to heal after that fall yesterday. You're in my thoughts!

Karen: Good luck shopping! I hope you find exactly what you're looking for!

Linda: WTG getting through your workout and I'm really glad you're feeling better! I'm sure another day or two of rest will have you back to 100%!!

Tammie: WTG on your NSV!! Doesn't it feel great when people notice?! Have a wonderful day.

Me: Well, I worked late last night which resulted in me skipping my workouts 3 days in a row. I decided that that's got to stop, so I'm up this early so I can get in to work early and have no reason not to come home at 5 to work out.

DH is out in the field today, so I'll be lunching alone and I'm going to try to get some piddly house chores out of the way. I've also got to find some time today to continue hunting for a cabin for our trip to Ruidoso in April. Our usual cabin is going to cost $150 more for the same nights as last time and we're really not willing to pay that. I found the perfect little place on the river last night, but there was only a shower in the bathroom and DH wouldn't let me book it. He knows me. After being tub-less for almost 3 years, a vacation isn't a vacation without at least one long soak for me. Oh well, back to the drawing board!!

Well, if I keep yammering away I'll be late and undo my plans, so I guess I'd better get going! I hope everyone to come is well!

Kara: Congrats on your NSV!! It sounds like you're all busy in spite of today's cancellation. Enjoy your day and I bet the three kids on the Wii is going to lead to some giggling! Enjoy that!!

Thanks for letting me start the day with an OT brag She has really turned into an amazing person.

Debbie - I suspected something like that because I've always been able to order them through Bob's. Hope your serger arrives and you get a chance to play with it a little

Twynn - Isn't it nice to know that you can get back on track and feel better right away?

Mmc - I was thinking about all the new things I eat. I used to hate eggplant and now it's one of our basic ingredients. When I realized I could slice it really small and toss it into anything with tomatoes to boost the veggie content and density I was sold. Now I even kind of like the taste

Lisa - Hope the day allows you to slow down and breath at some point

Heidi - Ack, so true about age, everything hurts more and for longer. I hope that wrist really is on the mend. My Mom broke hers years ago without knowing it and has all kinds of problems with it now so keep an eye in it.

Karen - Hope you come home with a new computer today. When I bought my Mom's I just went to Staples and got the cheapest one that did what I needed it to do It went on sale the next week so I had to go back to get the difference credited but it was worth it.

Linda - good for you getting through that workout! I'd like to know how you improve your balance. Mine is always off.

Tammie - I did have a long talk with her about preparing emotionally as much as she can. Where she works now they have an HIV, prison, & drug wards and most of their patients receive no primary health care. She thinks that will prepare her but I think it will be much harder there.
Congratulations on the NSV! I love those. It really helps to have concrete evidence of your progress.

Kara _ another NSV

Okay, time for work. ra ra

Nine posts already! I'll never get caught up!

Cyndi, that just proves what kind of person you have raised and I'm sure you are proud. My niece Anne spent a year in India working with Mother Teresa.

Debbie, sweet little Bing sounds like he has become your shadow. My Jazz is lying on my right foot right now.

Twinn, it's great that your co-worker may join us. Matt did for a while but moved on. It's nice to see him still posting and learn of his success. You can claim credit fro some of it by getting him here.

Mmck, we have a Costco 45 minutes from here but I've never joined. When you live by yourself you sure don't need their huge quantities, especially of meat. I'm sure it's well worth the membership if you have a family to feed.

Litar, glad you've joined us in the morning chat. I meant to mention how much I love the smiles in your avatar. What good looking boys - and Mom!

Heidi, poor baby! I'm wishing you a quick recovery from the aches and pains. I fully understand how a fall ages you 20 years. I'm hoping never to do it or I'll be over the hump - and I don't mean the Wednesday one!

WaistingTime, I hope today is final decision day for your computer. By the way, I thoroughly enjoy reading your Blog. You write very well.

Cottage/Linda, will you look at all the posts! remember the days when we would start things up and then wonder if we should be weekly instead of daily? All this Wii talk is making me want one and I know I need a new PC soon.

Tammie, I love your NSV. Nothing feels better than properly fitting clothes. I did a major sort the other day and ditched some saggy baggy elephant pants but my tops are still OK. Just the right fit with no pops.

Kara, you have such a busy household. I keep forgetting you are six hours ahead of me. I'm glad your workouts are making you feel so good.

This morning I'm off to my quilting class and I have three quilts for show and tell. I'll sneak out a bit early because my neighbours are coming for lunch again. It's always great to have a big mess of soup on hand!

I did some basement cleanup yesterday - wet cardboard is heavy. There is still water in one area but Paul is coming when I'm gone this morning to deal with that. He is also talking about off the floor shelving. It's nice to have a contractor who is a really decent guy. He IS married to my cousin but still!

I'd better get my "stuff" together before the morning gets away from me.

Happy Hump Day and to all who sneaked in while I was posting.

(That means you, Kim. I hope your vacation plans work out soon. Yes, a tub is wonderful!)

I'm still giggling today at picturing Ruth on a snowmobile .

Ruth - I still speak to Matt occasionally. He came over for the afternoon one day a few months ago, and had supper with us. My DH barely spoke to me for 3 days, so...I don't speak as often. We won't discuss that although Matt is definately cute, he's gay and engaged. Oh well.

Kim- I enjoy your blog! My TM run this am was miserable again (i need to figure out why), but at least I got something done for the day.

Kara and Tammie- yay for the NSV!!!

Cottage - glad you're feeling better!

Waisting time and all to follow - have a great day on the beach! Now, where are those cabana boys...
