Sunshine, Hope your mom is taking it a bit easy today. There was a little girl on my son's t-ball team this year whose name is Sunshine Marie. For real!

Okay... I'm going to say it out loud...

I HATE BROWN RICE!

I cannot get it done! It's crunchy! It 'plinks' when I put it on my plate. It messed up my beautiful pot roast! I'm not cooking it any more!

There, I've said it. Feel much better!

Poor Chelby! You must not have cooked right. Mine is always soft and fluffy, and I just love it's nutty goodness. Follow the directions on the package carefully. I think you have to cook it 40-45 minutes at a low simmer, and don't lift the lid to take a peek! I'm lucky enough to have a Trader Joe's nearby, and I buy their pre-cooked frozen brown rice. All you do is take out a packet and nuke it for 3 minutes.

I use a rice cooker. The sack said 1 cup rice/2.5 cups water. I used 3 cups of water and it was still crunchy. I'm such a failure!!! Okay, that may be a little dramatic.

Do you cook yours on the stove, Cottage?

I do cook mine on the stovetop, Chelby, and I've never had that problem. I don't know why yours didn't turn out. Have you checked to see if your rice cooker is working OK? That could be the problem, as it sounds like the rice didn't cook.

It works find with white rice. Maybe white rice can cook at a higher temp? I don't know. If I cook it again, I'll make it on the stove... in a pot... on low... with lots of water...

Chelby- I use Uncle Ben's Converted Rice. It's allowed on phase 2 and tastes just like white.

Thanks, I hope she did too. I haven't spoken with her today.

Sunshine Marie sounds like a little cutie! Good luck with the T-Ball season.
