Schmoo -

Lisa - sorry your cough isn't getting better. If you did have strep, remember that it is a very serious illness and your lungs and throat are going to need time to heal.

lori - hope you're friends are doing well!

cottage - sorry about your breakfast plans

ruth - the puppy is TOO cute!

twynn - hope your day is as uneventful as you wish

kara - CONGRATS on the pound! It's always nice to see weight fall off when you're not looking And...I think it comes in childrens' dna to make their parents late for everything. I have to fight with my girls to get moving to go to the places THEY WANT to go to!

stephanie - hope your workday goes by quickly. Congrats on your unpacking progress. You've got me beat right now on the christmas decorating but I'm almost done my christmas shopping and am set up to do my cards.

gonna - glad to hear you are in better spirits. I hope that continues for you! Also hope your foot heals quickly!

As for me, I just have a lot of housework to get done today. It's going to be a little tough with the hurt knee, but I took some aleve and it's feeling better.

Also, there is a birthday cake in my fridge that I have been craving for the last couple of days. I ALMOST gave in last night but I had some cheese instead. Don't know if that was better. But I feel good about resisting the cake anyway

Have a great day all!!!

Ruth - the dog is so cute! My DS is allerigic to dogs... wonder if this would be an option for our house. I would LOVE to have a dog! DH has always wanted a big dog, a St. Bernard. No way! Too big and with the allergies, we just couldn't. Wonder if this is an option!!

Can someone share how to make apple crisp? Sounds delish!

Lisa - I CANNOT beleive you are still so sick! I hope you start feeling better real soon! Congrats on the duplex too, very exciting!

Today is a slower paced day then yesterday. Whew. Need to regroup and get ready for the busy weekend ahead. I promised MIL that I would bake for a fundraiser at their church. Looking for recipes that I can make in quantity and divide easily for the bake sale. DD has her very first friend birthday party from school on Saturday. How exciting!!

Jenski Paula Deen has a pretty good Monster Cookie recipe that has everything in it but the kitchen sink (peanut butter, oatmeal, M & M's, rasins, chocolate chips) and makes a huge batch of cookies. The recipe says 3 dozen but if I remember correctly last time I made them I had more cookies than I knew what to do with.

Now I am going to be kicked out for food porn!

I love Paula Dean recipes... but watching her cook makes me gain 5lbs. I saw her on Oprah once make this pound cake. I made it, it was so good. Of course it is HORRIBLE for you! So much butter, sugar, etc. More than I usually see in recipes, which is probably why it tastes so great!
Thanks for the tip, I'll have to google it!
My plan is to bake, as soon as I can divide it into baggies or plates and put them in the car. This way they won't be any temptations around.
And there is no way I will pay for my own baked goods (and I have seen what everyone else makes!), so hopefully I can get by this weekend without falling off the wagon. Weekends are killers!

I can't believe I'm still sick, either! They're still trying to figure out exactly everything that's wrong with me. Well, I think we all know some of what's wrong with me, but I meant physically. I REALLY miss the gym but can't handle it, and being home makes me wander to the kitchen every 5 minutes. Moooooooooo.

Guess I'm going to call my new landlord and settle some of the last questions we have before getting ready to move. We'll start moving things in around the 21st and will be totally in the duplex the 28th.

Here I am, going WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH and freaking out because I have like NO time to get anything done, plus I'm sick on top of it, and Tom's like "relax. I've done this a thousand times. No sweat. We could move out in a day if we wanted to." Just the thought of doing everything in a day gives me an anxiety attack. He's the spontaneous, knee-jerk reaction, impulsive kind of guy, while I'm the "let's plan everything out for 3 years before we actually do it" kind of girl. Oy.

OK, off to call the landlord and think about going through stuff that we can toss/donate (didn't I just do that recently?) so we don't have to move as much crap. Have a good one girls!

Lisa - Hope all goes well with the call to the landlord.

Jenski - If ever I'm watching TV and I turn to the Paula Deen show, my husband will ask if I'm watching the "Paula Deen Makes You Fat" show. The woman seriously loves her butter!

Jenski, I love Paula Dean. Can I have some butter with my butter, ya'll! OMG, now I want cookies and something fried.

Just wanted to stop by and say hi! Now, it's back to work.

Oh, Shmoo, you have me at your to-do list! I had the whole yard raked last weekend and then I couldn't fit all the leaves in the compost bin so I had to leave them in their piles (don't worry, it's hasn't been windy...until the day after I raked!). I decided Tom can deal with them when he gets home. He has to mow the lawn anyway. I'll have the house clean, but he didn't mow the lawn before he left so I'm not going to do his catch up work. Gotta draw a line somewhere!

where has the day gone. Today I went with DH to see his cardiologist. He had to get his o.k. before the gallbladder surgery. So there went 4 hrs. but I would rather be with him than sit at home and wonder what is going on.

Ruth - that puppy is adorable. I also found a cute video of them on youtube.

Cottage - no Crackle Barrel here but we always stop at one when we are in the states because the bathroom is always in the same area. No looking around and one time when we were eating at the restaurant a waitress came up to DH and said OMG you look just like Lloyd Bridges, I think not but we always laugh about it when we see him in a movie.

Heather - tell us more about this restaurant review, is your DH a critic?

Smoodles - you must be tired of handling everything on your own for such a long time.

Beachgal - you need one of those vacuum things that compresses your clothing for the suitcase.

Everyone enjoy your day. Hope the sun comes out soon here. Oh yes, I am such a proud mom, my daughter is working a few nights a week at Starbuck while her DH is taking a 4 month course. That way she can look after her son during the day. She can eat anything she wants at closing time but says no thank you I'm not starting that habit. Now where did she get that discipline.

I just had supper (very late for me!), and I have to highly recommend SCHMOODLE's Spaghetti Squash Pie. It's delicious! Thank you, Schmoodle! I did add about 1/3 cup of ricotta with the egg and parmesan, though, and it took a little longer to bake, but this is one recipe I'll make often.

Zeff, I've never had a bitter spaghetti squash. It should taste almost sweet, and nutty, regardless of the size. I think the longer you bake it, the sweeter it becomes. Give it another try, it's a staple in my diet and I love them.

Cottage, you have me wanting to try the Spaghetti Squash Pie. I have 2 sitting on my counter right now! I printed out the recipe along with the Southwest Spaghetti Squash recipe.
