Default Pizza? Phase II...

I have a local restaurant that serves pizzas with a Sugar Busters compliant crust. Would this be OK for Phase II? What should I watch out for?

Thanks for the help.

it needs to be 100% whole wheat....

I have no idea what sugar busters compliant crust would be...do you have an ingredient list?

I'm not sure just what a Sugar Busters compliant crust is, either, but it's not just the crust that you have to watch. Many tomato sauces have sugar, and the cheese has to be lowfat to comply with the South Beach Diet standards. I would say it's best just to avoid this pizza.

Most pizza on SB that is eaten out is usually a cheat - stick to one or two pieces IF it is a whole wheat crust.

Actually...my family enjoys making pizza at home more than we do eating pizza out anymore.

I use whole wheat frozen pizza dough (Trader Joe's) and find a pizza sauce that has no added sugar (I've found several). Top with mozarella and veggies of choosing (I saute mushrooms, peppers & onions in a little olive oil) and bake. You could top with lean ground beef, ground turkey, etc. I have also seen some Boboli crusts that are 100% whole wheat at the store but haven't tried them yet. I also enjoy the Kashi Thin crust pizzas occasionally. The crust is made with whole grains and is very tasty and as close to SB as I can find in a frozen pizza.

I'd go with some of the ideas here and see if you can find a WW crust and attempt to make your own. I tried one of the frozen SB pizzas (buffalo chicken) and was not impressed AT ALL.

Mmmmmm.....I had pizza tonight and it was AWESOME!!!

Just use a whole wheat tortilla as a crust, place toppings on as desired...I generally put on heated cookie sheet at 400 for 5 min, then broil a min or two. YUMMY!!!

(I had mine with turkey italian sausage, mushrooms, and onions)

I receive a daily newsletter from the SBD website and yesterday, their recipe was for pizza. I made it and was pleasantly surprised.
