Default Thursday On The Beach

I'm starting my morning with tea today, since I'm fresh out of coffee filters. I have to be at the girls' early this morning, so I'll grab an X-tra large coffee at Wawa on the way over. It's drizzling right now, but the sun is due later. We had planned to go to the orchard for apple picking, but we'll save it for tomorrow. I made an appointment for the girls to get their hair trimmed this afternoon, and I promised Maggie we'd look for a new backpack for her, since hers is too small. I'm trying to get a load of darks done before I head out.

Good morning Cottage. It's warm here, another good day to get outside. Neighbors called me yesterday to hire me. I usually refuse money so she insisted I agree to accept her pay in order to help her. My son usually does the work but they've been having scheduling conflicts. So I spent the day washing the side of her house. I may (not sure yet) borrow their ladder (It's a step ladder thats perfect for the job) and wash mine. But I have a lot of other things to do. Tomorrow is DS's birthday and I have to figure out if I'm making him taco bake or buying him the pizza he asked me to buy for his party he's having on saturday.

Hi there, Early Chicks. I think I'm finally getting in the habit of sleeping until after six. However, I stayed up until 11:30 last night so am still short some zzzz's.

Cottage, I do hope your Dad is well enough for your Mother to care for him. So glad he came though the operation so well. What a worry!

Loriann, come and do my house next, OK? It's only a 3 hour drive and Jade can come too. I'll let you use my power washer!

Donna comes this morning and I may just leave her to it and go to town for groceries. I HAVE to do it today as tomorrow is baking marathon day for the sales at the Church and the Mill plus weekend company. How do these things sneak up on us?

We have rain today - it IS the Day of Atonement - but then it looks gorgeous right through until Monday with temps in the high 60's. I'm so glad because it is the last long weekend of the year and I feel gypped by Summer.

So come a chat a bit before you leap into your day.

Good morning chickies!!

Cottage - Have fun! Sounds like you are blessed with a close family (I'm a bit jealous!)

Lori - Have fun! My husband would gladly take your place....

Ruth - Don't you LOVE this weather?!?!? Love it, love it, love it!! I can't decide if I like fall, or spring better....

Me - Work, lucky me! Our water heater busted last night (I had a shower at 4 pm, thank goodness!), but I sure had an invigorating shampoo this morning!! We were going to have tortilla pizzas for supper tonight, but may go out, since there's nothing to wash dishes with (guess I could boil some, but we haven't been out in while....).

I introduced Matt to the world of walkjogrun.net, in case you guys didn't know about it. Google maps to determine the distance you walk/jogged. Let me know that I went 6.25 miles yesterday. WoooOOOoo!

(and thanks to matt, if he reads this....he's made the last couple YUCKY weeks at work a little easier!!)

I changed my avatar to a pic of my dad from the cruise we took when we first found out he had cancer - Saturday October 11 will be the one year that I lost him and I wanted to honor his memory - I miss him soooo much.

Gonna

Morning girls. Today's the big interview day! More prayers if you have time! I REALLY need this job. I'm wearing a white button down shirt with silver and black stripes, dark gray dress pants, and black dress boots. Interview isn't until 4, but I'm coming home around 2 or 2:30 so I can get ready, make sure my hair and makeup are perfect, etc. I need to calm the ol' nerves! Maybe I'll take a B vitamin this morning....

Hoping that my jeweler will have my ring done today. My parents got me a "silver" claddagh ring while they were in Ireland, and 30 minutes after I put it on, it turned my finger green. Apparently they paid a lot for it too because it was supposed to be silver. But my jeweler is coating it with rhodium for $5 (whatta guy!) so hopefully it'll be good to go from now on. I can't wait to have it and be able to wear it!

Had volleyball tournament last night. We lost. I played fairly well, but hurt the big joint in my first finger on my right hand. It'll get better, it just is sore today.

Well, time to hop in the shower and start getting ready. Hope everyone has a great day!

Lisa

Hey girls.. I have a question ??? On the fats part of the menu.. If you were to have your 2 TBS of salad dressing.. Is that all the fats you get for the day ? Or is that 2 TBS =1 fat. I'm confused about the part of the diet.

Thanks,

Morning Ladies, I'm in a bit of a funk lately, seems all the work on my desk is just a major challenge and while I enjoy it, I do wish there was something easy to balance it out. I am having alot of trouble getting motivated these days and it seems to be following me home at night. I think I need a swift kick in the ..........well you know where!

Cottage nothing worse than not having your morning coffee, I don't know about you but although I love tea its not.....well my cup of tea, when I need my morning pick me up!

Ruth hope you get eveything accomplished that you need to today, sounds like you have a busy weekend ahead.

Loriann be careful on that ladder!

Twynn 6.25 miles! Great job! Maybe that is what I need!

Gonna for you as you approach what I am sure is going to be a difficult day.

Lisa Good Luck with the interview!

Alright off to try and motivate myself. Have a great day ladies!

Good morning ladies!!!

Cottage - Sounds like you have a really busy day with your wards. Good luck finding a backpack.

Loriann - I think it's nice that your neighbor "hired" you. And I'm sure the cleaning was a good workout as well.

Ruth - Get thee to thy store!!!! No more procrastinating!!! I hope you're able to find all that you need today!

Twynnb - That website looks interesting. I'll have to check it out and see how long the route is that I used to walk. Maybe it'll motivate me to get in an evening walk as well. Thanks for the tip!

Gonnbe - So sorry that you lost your dad. But how nice to share his memory with us. Enjoy your movie this evening.

Lisa - Good luck. Prayers are on they're way!!! Let us know how it goes!

Cowgirl - Nice of you to join the chat. Unfortunately, I don't know.....but I"m sure there are others here who can help. Good luck on your journey!

Stephanie - I hope things get better for you soon.
ME - Back to school night was a bust. Not too many parents showed up, but it was a chance to chat with some of my other teacher friends and see how they're doing. DH is still not feeling well. I'm hoping he gets over this cold before the weekend. We finally got the call from the maintenance people here in our complex that our new dishwasher has arrived. I need to call and make an appointment to get it installed. That will make DH very happy since he's the regular dish washer. I should get moving....I still have to make my food for today's eating at work.
Have a fantastic Thursday, ladies!!!
ENJOY!!!!

thanks you guys for the hugs - I'm so needing them right now. Been keeping real busy with little crazy stuff just to keep my mind from wandering and hitting and all out downward spiral. It's great to have "friends" like you guys in times like this.

Lisa I pray that you get this job

Cowgirl if I'm not mistaking 2tbs salad dressing = 1 fat

Stephanie I won't kick you to hard I do hope you get it all straightened out.

Wow, Cottage, you're one busy lady!

Loriann, we did the same with a neighbor of ours that usually helps us out. When he was out of work, we insisted on paying him on some way. It just seemed the right thing to do. Glad you accepted the help.

Ruth, is it your Thanksgiving this weekend? Ah...just looked at my calendar and saw it's on Monday. Do you always have it on a Monday? Ours is always on a Thursday, so that just seems odd to me, though all our other gov't holidays are on Mondays...so I guess we're the weird ones, eh? Hope it's wonderful. Sounds like similar weather here, which will be great!

Hope your water heater gets better, Twynn!

Gonna, I'm so sorry. I hope that your memories of good times, like the cruise, help ease your pain. What's "The Women" about?

Lisa, what a shame about the ring! Glad the jeweler is able to fix it. Hope the interview goes well--you're in my prayers.

Cowgirl! To be honest, I never thought too much about the fat, other than making sure I wasn't eating a lot of it and kept it to the good fats. I think it depends on what your dressing is. Some are a lot of oil while others are a mix of ingredients. Either way, I'd think that you wouldn't be getting more than 1T in most dressings, so I'd think you could have another tablespoon. Does that make sense?

Stephanie, that's for you. Want to return the favor? I was feeling mopey yesterday and ended up skipping the gym. Need to go today!

Sorry about last night, Heather. It's so frustrating when parents aren't more involved. Enjoy the new dishwasher!

Me:
Not too much to say here. Last night for dinner, I had one of the new rice packages from Seeds of Change. I was so excited to see those--think I found them at Target? Anyways, they're like the Uncle Ben's Brown Rice packages (which I love for busy nights)--you just smoosh the pack, tear open the corner, and micro for 90 secs. Fast and easy and totally SBD-safe. The one I had last night from Seeds of Change was organic and had brown rice and quinoa (which has tons o' protein) along with seasonings (garlic?). It was delicious!

Hope everyone has a great Fall day!

Good morning all! It's surprisingly warm outside right now and the sun is bright! The brightness when I stepped out of our east-facing front door was not welcome since I didn't sleep last night (DH was out of town). Oh well.

Cottage: As usual, you're a busy lady. Sorry the trip to the orchard got canceled. I hope that it clears up for all of you tomorrow. Congrats to your SIL!!!

Loriann: Cleaning the side of the house is a tough job; I'm glad your neighbor paid you! Taco Bake sounds nice, I think I'll add that to the menu for next week. Have a great day!

Ruth: I feel guilty for agreeing with you, since I was counting the days until the Autumnal Equinox, but where the heck did the summer go?! Enjoy your baking spree. I believe I'll be planning one for next weekend. I really need to take care of DH's freshly harvested pumpkins. Have a nice day.

TwynnB: Congrats on your looong workout yesterday! 6.25 miles is amazing!! I hope you get the water heater situation resolved before your next shower. Cold showers this time of year are no fun!

Gonna: I hope you only have the fondest memories of him and your time together. Enjoy the movie tonight!

Lisa: Sending prayers your way for the interview this afternoon. I hope you get your ring back soon!

cowgirl: I don't think we've "met" yet! Hello! I think Gonna answered your fat question, so I'll just leave it at that. Have a great day!

Stephanie: I'll line up with you for a swift kick as well! I'm just getting into our "easy" period at work and I can't believe how much there is to do and how complicated it is going to be. I guess if we don't get our butts in gear, at least we can "funk" in good company!

hmacneil: If there's one thing I really wish we had in the kitchen, it's a dishwasher. I'm sure your DH is very happy it's coming! Sorry your school night was a bust, but it sounds like you made the best of it.

Laurie: I've never heard of the seeds of change micro sides, but I do love all the new steam-fresh pouches in the frozen veggie aisle. Now that the garden produce is gone, we love the convenience of zapping a bag of veggies. I'll have to see if I can find that brand. Sounds delish! Hope you have a great day!

Me: Not much here. Still working on getting on track. Work is crazy, home life is crazy and that's about all I do anymore! DH is due back tonight, so I'll be able to get to bed early to make up for the lack of sleep last night.

I bought a new fire pit for our back yard and it was delivered yesterday. Since DH was gone, I decided I'd assemble it and surprise him with it. Well, I got it done, but what a pain!! It was pretty much 33 lbs of plasma cut steel that I had to wrangle with for about an hour. Well, it's done now, so we can enjoy it this weekend.

Well, off to browse around the forum a bit. Hope everyone to come has a great day!

~Kim

Ruth, how bout we both get Twynn's hubby to do both our houses!!!!! I got half the house done, enough till spring, then I'll redo this half and the other half. Hey, just going to need it again and I only have to look at this half most the time!

Twynn, congrats on the walk/jog! Sorry bout the water, I hate not having water!

Lisa, how did the interview go?

Pacer, do as your name says, pace it. One project at a time! I know where your at as when I'm working I'm a bookkeeper and there's things that always got pushed off!

Heather, congrats on the new toy!

Beach, I would rather of just helped them, but I also know they wouldn't of allowed me to help if I didn't except their money. As for the rice packages, not so sure the microwaveable are sbd due to how they are processed!

Kim, It's amazing the change in my sons voice since he's gone without the daily food or the readily available food in the cupboards he's grown accustomed too! Enjoy the new fire pit!

EVERYONE over to kims for bonfire, songs and roasting marshmellows for the raccoons!!!!!!!!!!
