I hope everything is okay Lady Nessa..

Jenksihere, that's actually a really good idea. I should do that. It's a pain to run back and forth from the kitchen to the computer where I've got recipes saved. BTW: lovely pic!

Thanks Mel. I was playing around with different pictures, the ones i have all all too big and I was getting a nice zoomed in picture of my double chin!!
Then it hit me.... my new pink book!! Perfect picture! So, that is my new avatar. My new pink book... the one that made me a dork.

I don't think your a dork! I think your brilliiant! I love collecting recipe's, but mine are on printed paper and scattered abroad, never making their way to my binder I started! now who's the dork!

Wasn't able to make Sunday School, but I did go to church, message was good, got more information on the women's bible study but it doesn't start till October. Met several more people. Of course, the size of that church I"ve met almost everyone.

Enjoying a nice salad right now, and need to make sure I have lettuce on hand at all costs! Last week I ran out, and boy o boy, I sure missed my salad! hhhmmm, does that make me a "sb dork?"

Jelly, a whole jar of peanut butter? You should be allowed 2 tbs a day... eating more of that will surely sabotage your weight loss journey. I think peanuts are a no-go for you. You like them too much!

Yeah earlier I was thinking about digging into the smuckers jar but then declined. Why is it that the natural PB tastes so much more delicious to me? I understand where Jelly is coming from.

Yay, I'm already undoing the effects of my couple-of-week binging, got on the scale and 1 lb down of the 4 I gained recently.

For everyone else... Hi!
Hope everyone is having a Fab weekend!
I am still waiting on some cooler weather- Ike is here as well, not a ton of rain, yet, but lots of wind! Gouging gas is a problem here too- I saw it for 4.799 at 3 gas stations and then less than a quarter mile up the road it was 3.69. REDICULOUS! I waited though and ended up paying 4.199 yesterday which I think is the most I have ever paid. it was only 3.479 the last time I got gas before Ike.

I am sooo ready for the fall! I am ready for crisp cool breezes and windows open! too muggy now for all that... I think I may try to find a great fall-smelling candle to burn today... maybe make something with some pumpkin in as well

Hope everyone has a great one! SOrry if I forgot anyone!

Rdw1, I pick off the leaves of my basil and shop them up with my mini food processor, adding a bit of olive oil. Then I pack it into ice cube trays and freeze, popping out into a ziplock bag when frozen. I use just enough oil to stick the leaves together.

Just had a lovely Sunday afternoon nap and am puttering around in my kitchen. It's very strange outdoors - sunny, hot and muggy with gusts of strange wind. We are supposed to have the remains of Ike by now but not much is happening. I was expecting a downpour by now. Maybe he got held up at the border by a sniffer dog!

I believe she said peanuts....but that is still FAR too much.

RDW1- that is what I've been doing. Making fall-ish things and hoping that the weather will follow suit. I heard that a cold front is supposed to be moving in after the hurricane....I'm keeping my fingers crossed. DH keeps bugging me to make a roast, but with it so hot, I'm not about to spend 3 hours with the oven on.

Howdy Chickies!! Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Nessa...my thoughts/prayers are with you and Bagel right now...I know how difficult this time is for you

Cat...Happy late birthday!!!!! Glad to hear that the IL's didn't have much damage!!

It's been interesting reading about the different gas prices where all you gals are. This morning I tried to fill up and had to go to 3 different gas stations before I could even find ANY gas!!! Two were completely out and the 3rd was running out rapidly. The news people have been asking people not to panic..but I guess they aren't listening. Then after finding gas...I ventured to the grocery store. Had to go to 3 stores before I could find anywhere with celery!! I was amazed (and using up that precious gas) haha...

It's been a somewhat productive weekend. Put my fence back up yesterday...2 different sections fell with the winds from Ike...finally getting into some sunshine this afternoon...but checking the radar and more rain is knocking on my door....but YAY...it's with a "cool front" WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOrry I've been a little out of touch....I have been skimming through the posts, but haven't made the time to post. Tomorrow I'm restarting on Ph1 for at least a week to try and reverse all of the terrible cravings I have brought on myself. Not to mention my stomach is back to being the terrible beast it once was!! Just goes to prove that eating healthy is the only way to eat!!

I have one question...and I think I already know the answer. Since rum is a no-no...I'm assuming that marinating fish/shrimp/scallops in coconut rum then put on the grill is a no-no as well??? That's one of my favorite things to cook!!

Toodles for now!

Mandyleigh, I think your fish would absorb too much sugar from the rum, but it wouldn't hurt for a once-in-a-while treat. It sounds delicious!
---------------------------------
For freezing basil, I wash the leaves and when they're thoroughly dry, I just pack them into freezer bags. I've done it that way for years. And for tomatoes, I just pop them into the freezer whole. They're not good for much but soups or casseroles, but it's an easy way of freezing them.

Finding food is ridiculous around here! Milk is in high demand and I guess it is hard to stock everybody at once. I had to go to 3 stores this morning before I could find 2% for DS. Fresh veggies and fruits are gross right now. I can't find a bagged salad mix to save my life and the one bag of spinach that I did find looked like it was leftover from the storm - slimy. Ick.

I hope the grocery stores around here restock soon! Our frozen veggies are almost gone and the canned that we had for Gustav are gone as well. I want some fresh broccoli!

yikes- we are far from the storm, I am about to go grocery shopping- hope we have fresh veggies- thats at the top of my list!!!

Ruth- that is a fabulous idea!!!!! I don't have a mini food processor but have been wanting one for some time now- this may be a good excuse to buy one!
Do you think if I repot them into a smaller pot and bring them in they would survive inside during the winter and keep reproducing? I love my fresh pomodoro sauce! But, I am sure I could use the ice cube method too for most of them, it would be nice to have fresh all year round though!

I'm in Southern Louisiana. Our grocery stores lost almost all of their perishable stock during hurricane Gustav....it is taking awhile to restock all the stores.

I don't think it would be a problem for you.

Had a hard time today finding something to wear tomorrow. Went to Kohls, and they only had 1 of that top in stock, and it was an XL. D'oh. So I looked around for some petite gray dress pants. Their petite section was awful, so after finding nothing else like what I was looking for, I went to Gordman's.

I wandered around Gordman's looking for anything professional but not, well, cheap looking. Couldn't find a top I liked so I went hunting for their petite section. After wandering around for 10 minutes or so, I asked one of their associates. They apparently didn't sell the petite clothes they used to have, so they got rid of their petite section completely. Sigh.

Off to Old Navy I went! So I wandered around there looking for some petite dress pants, and the only pants in petite that I could find were jeans, so I asked one of THEIR associates. They got rid of all their short-length pants too, except jeans. Have to order them online if you want them short.

Apparently short people are not allowed to wear pants in this town.

I decided I have a really nice pair of dress khaki pants at home, so all I needed was the top half. I ended up getting a light pink lace cami with light pink button down shirt, and a brown cardigan to go over it all. I posted their pictures separately. It's not a SUPER professional outfit, but it still looks nice enough.

Nessa, more prayers for you and Bagel.

I like it, it's really cute! It is dressy enough but still has a sexy flair. Nice!

That sucks about the fresh veggie shortage, guys. I have to have my fresh cauliflower. I'm roasting some as we speak.
