A Weekend on the Beach
Wow am I really the first on today? I'm sure Ruth or Cottage is trolling out there somewhere. I didn't sleep well at all lastnight and finally gave up about 5 am. I've got my yoga in and am now sipping some coffee and planning my day.
Not much on tap, cleaning and laundry. Tomorrow I have to go pick DD up in Indianapolis, she has been at her dads for a week and school starts Wednesday. What does your weekend look like? |
Weekend Chirpings!
Good morning! It's shaping up as a glorious :sunny: morning so grab a cushion and come sit on the back deck with the Doggage and me. I keep the chair cushions in the house this summer as it seems to rain every darn night! Late yesterday we had a navy blue sky that looked like the end of the world and then a downpour! :rain:
Once again it's too wet to garden but it's just as well as Hersh is due at the groomer for 10. Since I'll be 15 minutes on the way to town, I'll carry on and pick up a few groceries although I try to avoid Saturday shopping. Yes, I'll avoid the darned Chinese Buffet and have cheese and fruit for lunch. I'm hoping to stock up on some blueberries for the freezer. This afternoon, I need to test some baking recipes as Claire and I are catering a christening next weekend. Don't worry - I'll resist temptation. Cooking wearing surgical gloves really helps. Would you lick a rubber-covered finger? What's happening on your stretch of the sand? :cofdate: ---------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Pacer and thanks for starting us up. Sorry you had such an early wake-up. I'm managing to sleep in a bit later these mornings - about time! There is no reason for me to be awake at 5 these days. Safe trip to Indianapolis. Last time I flew there I got caught on the circle road in morning rush hour and felt I was on the Speedway! |
you moved the thread while i was posting!
i'm up the dogs are fed coffee is brewing DH is getting ready to go away! i'm making shopping lists |
Weekend Happenings at The Beach
:carrot::carrot::carrot: Happy Saturday! The weekend has begun! (Can you tell I've been looking forward to it? :D)
I slept in a bit this morning, we were up late watching the opening ceremonies. That was a long, long program, I hope they served dinner! ;) Not a whole lot going on today, Jake will be gone most of the day so I'll be cleaning and doing laundry and cooking for tomorrow. We're celebrating both Amber's and Tyler's birthdays with a BBQ and swim party. What's everyone up to today? |
Good Morning all.... Sounds like normal Saturday happenings all around! My son spent the night last night... called me up last night asking me to fish fry. I asked if he was buying, he said he's broke. I reminded him I'm unemployed! I did go pick him up to bring him home and polish off the Kashi Pizza I had last night. (I had one slice). He got into the car and I GAGGED! He's started smoking!!! He used to hate just the very smell of it, wont tell my the story behind him smoking. *sigh*. And now I see the truth behind "They ALWAYS come back!"..... however, he started moving branches for me, he promised to get them out to the road today :).
I'm thinking they are going to call me for this job. I'm also thinking I could of probably gotten a little more out of him. Sigh, Oh well. But with free car repairs... my car is up to 115K, but these buicks run like the charm. Hoping to bring it well over 200, and of course we all know what that will mean. I have a sneaky suspicion as well that I will be able to get a decent used car from him. :) Going to make my menu for the week and pick up a few groceries to make it happen! Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday. |
Good Morning,
It's shaping up to be a pretty day here. I will be taking my puppy to a doggie birthday party this afternoon. It should be great fun and socialization for her, and fun for me as well. The entire week has been busy reconnecting with friends with a lot of dining out, which I normally avoid. Now that we've connected with everyone, things should settle down in that area for a while. I did go off plan a couple of times, but I'm determined to stay on track. Pacer, sorry you didn't get much sleep. I can relate. I'm not a good sleeper. Ruth, sounds like you have a busy day. Enjoy your recipe testing. Nessa and Cottage, enjoy your day! Loriann, I hope you get the job. Have a great Saturday! |
Morning Chicks.... boys have I missed you guys. Summer has been so busy. My dad has been home from NWT, for 4 weeks, he is leaving next thursday. We have had a huge family reunion with around 155 people. And this last week we have been replacing my roof, what a job that has been. Can you spell NIGHTMARE. Eating I don't even want to tell you, and the scales have been hidden. I am hoping that after my dad goes back home I will be able to get back on and post on a regular basis. Take care chicks and talk to you all soon. LC

Good Morning!
I've just got back from my morning walk with the dog, coffee is brewing, it's hot out already but no humidity yet. Some light cleaning and laundry today then I'm going to relax for the rest of the day. Tomorrow more dog walking and I received my badges from the world tang soo do association so I'm going to attempt to sew them onto my uniform . DH gets back from a business trip today and tomorrow leaves for a fishing trip to Alaska so I get the house to myself for another week! I think I will carve up that honeydew melon in the fridge and have some for breakfast with some turkey bacon :T. |
Good morning!
Well I am really hoping my mom is going out thrifting sometime today, just feel like going out somewhere for some exercise and I love to shop bargains for some nice clothing. Meanwhile, I didn't have the energy to do my laundry yesterday so hopefully today I will get to it, but right now fighting off a bad headache (go figure) and I'm low on Excedrin so have to get more. Well hope everyone has a good day, I'm off to do some Jillian Michaels exercise |
Good morning Chickies!
I am so glad it is the weekend, loooong week. On the books today is cleaning and more cleaning and then this afternoon I am taking DD2 to a dual birthday party at friend of the family so should be fun. I hope everyone has a good day. Loriann praying you get that job and it is what you want. Have a great day |
We stayed up and watched the opening ceremonies too. At one point after the US went by, Brian fell asleep. I tried to get him to go to bed but he wanted to see the Olympic flame and he did stay up to the end. He's now up watching the US play Japan in soccer on on a Spanish language channel. I think we'll be watching a lot of Olympics but that's okay with me.
I have no major plans for the weekend. It's so nice not to have leaves in the pool now that the tree is gone. I need to acid wash the filter today which will take a bit of time but not too bad. |
Good evening...(Well for me anyways) I have a vegie packed meatloaf in the oven. and shutting computer down early today. Have a great day everyone!
|
Howdy hi. I slept LIKE A BABY last night. Tom and I just laid in bed watching some Lockdown TV show about a prison or something, and I fell asleep a little after 11 and he shut the TV off at 12:30. I slept straight through the night until I woke up at 7:30. Somehow I broke my fingernail diagonally in my sleep though. Very strange.....
Not much going on today besides going to the store. I'm excited to get healthy, unprocessed food into the house so I can try to lose some of the weight I gained in the last week. I have eaten nothing but straight starches and it about makes me sick to think about. Well, time to get a move on. Hope you girls have a great day! Lisa |

Morning all! Had a great time last night meeting our friend's new girlfriend. He's quite twitterpated over her, so it was really cute to see him so happy. We ate at one of our favorite restaurants in Laguna Beach where they have this amazing rooftop where the sunset is so cool. It was lovely! Today I'm going to clean the place and this evening we're headed to our monthly poker night. I'm looking forward to getting my gambling on ;)
So I had a NSV the other day. I was in the restroom washing my hands and I looked up in the mirror and I could see my collar bones. When I stood up, they weren't there, but if I hunched my shoulders in, they were definately noticeable. I don't think I've even seen them in the past 6 plus years. It was a good feeling. Have a fantastic Saturday, Ladies! ENJOY!!! |
Personals
HMA Congrats on the NSV!!!!!! :carrot:
Lisa I'm glad you finally were able to sleep the night through! I bet it felt good! NOw that the ordeal is over it wont take any time at all to lose the weight you put on with all those carbs. A few strict days, lots of water and you'll be good to go! Indi! Have a peaceful rest! Barb enjoy a peaceful weekend! Thanks Pearl!! I agree, even though I am not working it's been a long week. Perhaps it's all the running around, car repair etc. Hi Jelly, Thrift shopping is always fun, but be careful not to spend money on frivolous things you really don't need! Easy to do! Hey Lynn, Big toss up of staying home in a quiet house, or going to Alaska! I think I'd go to Alaska! ;) Thanks for dropping in little chick! Hope things get better for you! Now I've heard everything Belle! A doggie birthday party? what will they think of next??? Getting together for doggie socialization isn't a bad idea, but come on, a party for a mutt?!!!!!! Yes, I love my girl and she's spoiled, but she's still a dog and knows not what all the fuss of a party is about. Give her a birthday bone and she's died and gone to heaven! Me: Now that I've spent several weeks home and facing work Monday (strong possibility) I'm gonna get that room done once and for all!!!!! Today my son is here to do some yard work, and tomorrow my friend comes to take the couch, and I have to go grocery shopping today. relax? ha! My friend insisted to pay money for the couch, I told her NO! I only paid 30 for the set at a yard sale last year. This thing is so comfortable! So to ease her mind I asked if her husband can fix my toilet while he's here, so I have to spend some of the money I have on the insides of the toilet. I did that just to help them not feel funny on taking the couch. |
Hey everyone. Sorry to neglect you all, especially after writing a novel in the reading thread, but I've got to get my day started!!!
Laundry, shopping, packing, weeding and housecleaning on the agenda today. Leave for Austin tomorrow in the am. Sigh. This year is going by too fast.... |

Good morning all! I've been up since the crack of dawn, actually before, with the little one. She woke up and was ready to play. So I've been laying on the couch, folding laundry, being lazy all morning. I plan to finish dealing with Mt. Laundry at some point this afternoon and we have a pool party for dinner, getting nervous about eating. Hopefully I can just eat in advance and avoid it all.
Have a good day everyone! |

Yeah, I've just been miserable, and you all know how I am with emotional eating, especially if there's no time to go to the store. I think I had mashed potatoes 4 times in the last week, plus biscuits, real (restaurant) cheese tortellini in an alfredo sauce, brown sugar rolls, chinese food with white rice, Taco Bell, and Papa John's pizza (on original crust) and their parmesan breadsticks (original bread.)
Oy. Sorry about the food porn but I kind of wanted to convey why I'm feeling so sick. Gonna get stuff at the store to make Rachael Ray's Black Bean Stoup and the Kraft Italian Spinach Pie (two things Ph1 that Tommy will help me eat.) Tommy says hi by the way. Think I'm going to try roasting some chickpeas as well. Haven't done it yet, and am a bit nervous about it, but it's worth a shot. Hey, do I need to store them in the fridge once I make them, or would a tupperware container on the counter work? And how long do they stay good? So it's going to be a major detox the next few days, possibly a week. I'm going to try to be good. I got down to 121 with the stress and all, and now Lord knows where I'm at (I'm afraid of the scale.) Think I'm going to start doing pilates in the mornings too. I always felt better when I did pilates. I just feel like a roly-poly now. Well, back to my grocery list. Talk soon. |
Weezle, try Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred, I know I got majorly sore when I exercised to it twice so far since I got it. Good DVD for those who don't have exercise equipment or who don't like to exercise in public aka "ME" lol

Unfortunately I'm one of those that doesn't lose much boob. Back when I was 105 lbs in high school, I was a D-cup. Got up to 40DD (probably should've worn bigger, too, but wouldn't admit it.....) at my heaviest and now am back down to 34D. Not huge in the grande scheme of things, but it takes a toll on my back and there's major saggage from gaining and losing weight. Thus, the expensive bras.
Good luck with your boob-loss! Nessa, ugh. They'll go down with more loss! At least some..... |

I'm still wearing nursing bras and I haven't been breastfeeding since December! :( If I lose a little weight I'll have several that fit for a while since I seem to have the ones that are too small in great abundance!
|
I have a curvations bra 40D that I have to wait to wear, but I go through bra's like crazy cause my boobs aren't even so it drives me nuts, with or without bra's.. I'd rather have no boobs, least it wouldn't drive me nuts anymore.

Hello Chicks of many words :) You've been busy this morning!
I've been crazy busy getting ready for the first leg of the time off. Tomorrow I'm off to my parents in the land the internet forgot. I've been trying to get things done here and make sure I have what I need to get through three days there. Unfortunately I ended up bringing a couple of work projects home too - just couldn't get it all done yesterday. Oh well, just small things and it's better than having them hanging over my head. Today I discovered chestnuts. I can't find them on the food list but they have a glycemic load of 4 so I think they're safe. Ocean State had bags for $2. Yum Loriann - :crossed: Heather - I love my collar bones! I didn't even know I had them until recently (okay, I assumed they were there somewhere but I didn't know what they looked like!). :cb: Ruth - Hope Hershey starts doing better. I hate when my babies are sick :( Cottage - do you have parties every weekend?! Indigal - How did the potluck go? Think it will catch on? I'm staying out of the bra discussion. Except to add that it costs more to keep them in place then it did when they were bigger and stayed put. everyone. Have a great weekend! |
Cyndi, unfortunately, since we're the only ones in the family who have a pool, everyone wants to hold their parties over here in the summer. I don't really mind, as long as everyone pitches in to help out. It seems like our house was always "party-central", even while we were living all over the world before Jake retired from the military! My kid's friends always wanted to hang out at our house, so I'm pretty used to having a houseful. Have a great trip, and have Julie take some pictures to share with us!
Lisa, Nessa, Jelly, I share your woes in the boobie department. :( I can lose inches everywhere else on my body except my boobage. I actually went for a consultation with a surgeon about having them reduced, and he said I didn't qualify enough for insurance to cover it. :?: I've been wearing a 38D since my kids were born! If I ever win the lottery, that's the very first thing I'm having done! |
I'm a 40D myself and feel your pain, but I've learned that it is what I am... This discussion reminds me of a country song.. Let me get the lyrics...
SARA EVANS LYRICS Complimentary "I Keep Looking" Ringtone "I Keep Looking" Back when I was young Couldn't wait to grow up Get away and get out on my own And looking back now Ain't it funny how I've been trying to get back home, yeah When my low self esteem Needs a man loving me And I find me a perfect catch Then I see my friends Having wild weekends Then I don't wanna get quite so attached Just as soon as I get what I want I get unsatisfied Good is good but could be better I keep looking, I keep looking for I keep looking for something more I always wonder what's on the other side Of the number two door I keep looking Looking for something more Well, the straight haired girls They all want curls And the brunettes wanna be blonde It's your typical thing You got ying you want yang It just goes on and on They say, hey, it's only human To never be satisfied Well I guess that I'm as human as the next one Oh, I keep looking I keep looking for I keep looking for something more I always wonder what's on the other side Of the number two door Yeah, I keep looking Looking for something more Just as soon as I get what I want I get unsatisfied Hey, good is good but could be better I keep looking I keep looking for I keep looking for something more I always wonder what's on the other side Of the number two door I keep looking Looking for something more Oh, looking for something more |
Losing weight definitely helped my breasts to reduce. I went from a 42DDD to a 36C although I probably fit a D more right now since I gained some of the weight back. At my age, they'll never be perky but as long as I wear a good bra or a good swimsuit, they do fine.
|
Poor DD1 is a 34DD on one side and C on the other. We went for consultation too a year or so ago because with her being a dancer she was starting to have back problems. She didn't qualify for insurance coverage either because she was only too big on one side!!
|
OK all, I just got the call! "Lori, this is Enzo. We are going to give you a try for two weeks. You'll be working with Brenda all day Monday." I asked how long I have before she leaves, he said he's going to let her go Monday. I asked "I thought she was leaving on her own." He replied "She wants to leave, so I'm letting her. She'd work the week if I let her."... The tone in his voice has me wondering! I'm gonna do some asking on monday see if she'll tell me why she's leaving!
Anyway, he didn't ask.. he just told me! hhhmmm, LOL. |
Lori - regardless....that's so great that you're going to work on Monday!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!:cb::jig::dance::congrat: |
Lori, Congratulations!
|
Congrats, Lori but find out why she's leaving... the boss might be a bit too forceful....
|
Loriann, I hope this job works out well for you, congratulations! It does seem like there's something going on behind the scenes that you should try to find out, though. Maybe it's just the mother in me, but go into this with your eyes wide open.
|
Agreed. But CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! Even if it ends up being a dud, at least you know that you're qualified and you aced the interview! Way to win him over! And good luck. I'm sure you'll let us know how your first day goes. :)
