Default Thursday Happenings on the Beach

Mornin, all, time to get up. It would have been nice just to stay in bed and listen to the rain, but here I am. I have the morning off again, so I'm going to be a good girl and get myself to Curves. I have to work late today, but Cindy promised I'd be home in time for Survivor. Maggie has a playdate after school this afternoon, we're meeting for lunch and going to Moonbounce Adventures until it's time to pick up Audrey. For their supper, I'm letting the girls make their own "graveyard pizzas". It's a Halloween idea from one of those little cookbooks you get in the checkout line.

So what's going on in your part of the world today?

Morning Cottage! (and all who post later!) Sounds like you have a very full day!

Busy day today with tons of work piled up when I get home from teaching. I need to start "deep cleaning" my house also. My Mother and Sister get here on Sunday. I need to start planning food too. I think Sunday will be eggplant lasagna and Monday will be red beans and rice.

I've attached a picture I took yesterday afternoon showing the waist "gap" in my favorite little winter skirt. Guess I need a new favorite little black skirt...and in a little size...yehaa! I honestly never thought I'd be skinny again and am so thrilled with the progress and even more thrilled on how easy it has been. I think a lot of it has to do with being able to cook and the other part has to do with mind set. My mind was just sooooo made up to lose all that fat I'd been hauling around!

Need to go take some fish out of the freezer for dinner, then head off to get ready for school. Ya'll have a great day!

Good morning! I've finally started to sleep late like a "normal" retired person. After years of 5 AM, seven is sleeping in!

Yesterday was a real mish-mash day with a trip to town to replace my cell phone. Grrrr! I think mine was left in my rental car but phoning the company was to no avail. I did unpack and get to admire my quilting fabrics though.

Hersh is on a hunger strike! She is in mourning, I think. She did the same thing when my other dog died and it was about a month after. (I journal so was able to look it up.) I'll keep an eye on her and give her more attention.

Today I have to snap back into normal mode. I have three people coming for dinner Saturday night and want to knock their socks off with a great meal so today will be menu planning and making a shopping list. I won't post the menu as it would look like food porn.

My ticker is still lying but not as much!

How's your Thursday looking?

Cat, what a great NSV! Looks like you have a busy day planned, too. Your mother stays with you all winter, doesn't she? That should be fun!

Ruth, poor Hershey, I was wondering how this would affect her. I'm sure you'll give her an extra helping of special attention today. Love heals all.

I'm back from Curves and enjoying my coffee with a little pumpkin pie spice added to it. Something special for this dark, gloomy day. It's ugly outside! I'm not sure where we're going for lunch today, but I hope it's someplace where they have a good soup! I'd make some for supper, but I have leftover Chicken Divan that needs to be eaten up first.

Good Morning! Got me a big cup of pumpkin spice coffee myself today, even better they gave it to me for free. Gotta love the small town, I usually manage a free cup a week.

Cottage I admire your strength to make it to curves all the time. I really did not want to workout this morning, but if I jump out of bed and turn it on before I have a chance to think about it I am good to go. If I had to go somewhere, well lets just say it probably wouldn't happen.

Cat Great job on the skirt not fitting!!! Sure is hard to give up the ole favorites though!

Ruth Sure hope Hershey perks up soon. I know you will give her all the lovin she needs! Have fun planning your dinner and enjoy the company!

Me Not a darn thing exciting in my life, not even looking into the weekend. I would say I need some excitement but then something bad would probably happen so I will settle for calm and boring.

Have a great day all. Check back later!

Good morning Beachy girls!

Linda, I think graveyard pizzas sound like a great deal of fun! We started making our own pizzas on tortilla shells and they taste great. I love the honey wheat ones. I know, I know, honey is a sugar, but there's not a lot in there.

Cat, you look positively tiny in that skirt! Go shopping already!

Ruth, our dog goes on hunger strikes when she gets depressed. We used to take her up to my parents' every other weekend when we lived in Maryland and she wouldn't eat for a whole day when we would get back home - every time! My parents have a Golden Retriever so we call them peanut butter cups because our Chocolate Lab and their Golden are the same colors as a Reese's Cup! Actually, our dog's name *is* Reese, after the candy! And she's enjoying her vacation at my parents' immensely while we're in Korea.

Pacer, I hope you have something good-exciting happen this weekend! Shake things up and go on a fun hike or something.

I went for a run tonight...in the rain. Stupidest thing I've ever done. I didn't realize it was coming down so hard when I started and by the time I felt how soaked I was, I was halfway through the run so figured I might as well finish up. I was cold and soaked to the bone when I got home. I won't do that again. I told Tom that I'd better lose five pounds from all the trouble it was!

Off to bed. Have a great day, all!

Morning chicks, boy did it turn cold here overnight. Had to break out the jackets for the morning walk to school. Busy day today, all the usual stuff. I've got a committee meeting tonight and they bumped the meeting time back to 7:30, so there's no way I'll be home in time for Survivor, grrr. You chicks will have to fill me in. I've got to get the costumes thrown together for tomorrow night too.
Night-night Kara, sleep tight.
Pacer, great coffee connection you've got going there.
cottage, it's a perfect day for soup and I'd planned to make some beef-veggie, but my dinner plans for last night got sidelined by DH, and now I've got defrosted fish I've got to cook.
Hi Ruth, lol, 7AM is early rising for me!
congratulations Cat on the NSV! Now, this is getting eerie, I've got fish to cook tonight too, as I mentioned. Are you sneaking a peek at my dinner menus?

Yesterday turned out to be a day of not much accomplishment. Sometimes, you've got to quit fighting it and go with the flow! Got some making up to do today though. Have a good one chicks.

Bad stuff in threes? Yesterday it was the lost cell-phone hassle and today.....

- just checked my Mastercard online and saw my rental car was charged although it was to be paid my AirMiles. Grrrr!

- went to get stuff out of the freezer and the light isn't on. Nothing is melted but it may be croaked. It's 22 years old but still! I'm not going to panic yet but......

I just may go back to bed and read. Hershey can join me and we can lie there together and eat bon-bons, whatever they are. Nothing OP, I'm sure!

Ruth, maybe it's just a burned-out lightbulb?

I never thought I'd say it, but I'm BORED! Housework and laundry are all caught up, it's too wet to go outside, and I'm tired of reading my book for now. I think I'll stop by for a quick visit with Mom & Dad before I have to pick up Maggie.

good morning chickies,

I have been MIA these past 2 weeks. 2 weekends ago, DH and I went out of town for our anniversary weekend, and we ended up in a cute bed and breakfast in the mountains.

It was my first time going OP, so I have had a hard time getting back in the groove I was. I think I am doing better now, but I hope everyone has a good OP day.

And on a better note, it has been raining here yesterday and today. We have gotten a whole 2 inches, which is exciting!

Hi girlies! No time to post individuals today! Gotta train Ryan one last day here and then I have conference calls and such all day. I'm ready for my weekend off! Can't stop the yawns today.

Then as soon as I get home, I have to change my clothes, eat, and I have people meeting me at my apartment and we're all going to the Casting Crowns concert here in town. For those who know Casting Crowns and have never been to a concert, you definitely need to go!!!! This is #2 for me and I'm really excited. They're so good!

Better get back to work. Hope you girls have a good day!

Oooh, do I just jump right in?

I'm on Day 4 of Phase 1. I expected yesterday to be rough, but it was a piece of cake - no, I mean cheese! Today's going well too. I'm not really craving, which surprises me. I walked through the bakery part of the grocery store this morning and thought, "Oooh, those cookies smell fantastic," but that was it - I didn't think I needed to eat them, or that I could have just one little cookie and it would be fine. I just thought they smelled nice and then I went on with my shopping. That's a huge step for me!

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Tonight is the next to last night of popcorn selling. Brian is doing so well and is one sale away from $6000 but I will be so glad when this is over. I haven't been working out and the weight has not been coming off. I tend to snack when I don't have time to properly plan my meals. At least I haven't gained.

DH did make dinner last night which was nice but it's been so frustrating dealing with him lately. I'm sure I'll feel better when I have more time to work out.
