Congratulations Indigal that is great, you are doing so good. I am sitting at work and things have slowed down so I have time to check out the posts. Very interesting evening, my DH is out of the country and my son called thought he had broke his leg, had to do some shuffle to get someone to cover for me so I could meet him at the ER, but all worked out well in the end. He ended up having just a bad ankle sprain, thank goodness. So I was back to work until 5 a.m. this morning. Only one more night to go and then I am off for 12 days we are going to visit the inlaws in Texas this week, they do not have internet so probably you'll will not hear from me for a while. Hopefully I will be able to stay op, I think I will manage and plan to bring some items to help for the trip..

Everyone have a great Sunday!!! I will go home and sleep for a couple of hours and then I have Children's Church rotation this week and after that a nap before going back to work.

Brian and I went to the water park today (Hawaiian Falls). They shut everything down twice as the storms passed through but we still got to spend quite a bit of time in the water.

We got home to find out from DH that the hot water heater sprung a leak. We've bought a new one but it won't be installed until Monday. If it wasn't natural gas we'd just do it ourself but the city requires a permit and it's just a big pain. I'm not crazy about cold showers so I might stop by the gym on the way to work Monday and shower there. This was definitely an expense I didn't need since we ordered a new microwave on Friday. We would have waited if we'd known we'd have this expense. Oh, well, that is life.

I got called about 1AM to help with a change that went in at work and I'm still here 3 hours later. We just figured out which firewall rule got deleted that shouldn't and I should be able to head back to bed in just a few minutes.

It's a beautiful Sunday morning, bright and sunny with low humidity! I have absolutely nothing planned for today except making dinner for the kids when they bring Carley out. I'm not sure when that will be, as they have to get Caitlyn all settled in at governor's school in northern NJ first. Caite sure is busy this summer - She got back last evening from being a mother's helper in Bar Harbor, ME, and has to check in at College of NJ between 8 - 10 this morning. This internship will last 4 weeks, then she's home for a week before we all take off for a week's vacation. She'll be starting her senior year of high school in Sept., and things will never be the same again. It's both sad, but exciting. We've always been especially close, and it's so hard to let go.

That's enough of that, or I'm going to get all weepy.

Congratulations, indigal, for your success! Have a nice, cozy day at home.

Barb, that's a shame about your water heater, but at least you'll have a brand new one. I know they're not cheap, though. I'm glad you and Brian had some fun time at the waterpark.

Weezle, wow, that's fantastic that you can lose weight and quit smoking at the same time! Good for you!

Pearlrose, I hope your son's ankle isn't causing him too much discomfort, ouch! I guess it is better than a broken leg, though. Have a nice relaxing vacation!

Kiko, thanks!

Ah, Barb, I sure hope they pay you well! to the rest of the Chicklets!

Just a quick check-in to say the concert is going well with the usual problems from rain, lost kids and fake ID. I worked until 11 last night and will be doing the same today with a 90 minute break to care for my poor dear dogs. I've been too busy to check out the guys in the groups although I do have backstage access. Being a foundation director does have it's perks.

Today will be another similar day.

Hi all, I am a newbie....I have been lurking for a while and had been unsuccessful at registering until my son helped me....

I have been on and off of SB the last few months and have generally been low carb and working out for a few years for a 50 pound loss. I have regained about 15 pounds and it seems harder this time around. I know there is as Alli thread but I was wondering if any SBers have tried it. I was wondering how the diet works with the pill. It gets confusing to jump from low carb eating healthy fats to reduced fat and maybe eating more carbs... any thoughts from the crowd??

By the way even though I hadnt officially registered until last night, you girls have helped me through some challenging times without even knowing is, so for that I think you all Suzy

Happpeee Sunday, everyone!

I'm in a great mood this morning! Fired up and ready to go! DH and I have church in 2 hrs and then I'm riding up to the "big city" with a friend and her kids. I haven't been to Wal-Mart in FOREVER. Time to make a trip!

I've gotten a lot done this weekend and it really felt good. Got the kitchen trim done, yeah! I also got rid of a rose bush (terrible location), and cleaned out the beds for three others. I am sore today! All that pulling and digging made my arm muscles ache. Now that's my kind of workout.

I am quitting smoking tomorrow. My trainer said that I have to quit before we can start, so I just have to do it! I'm not too worried about gaining weight after I quit because I will be working out so much more than I have been. I think it will balance out and I'll keep losing at a steady-ish pace.

Well, need to hit the shower! Have a great Sunday, ladies!

, sstambler! You're gonna love it here! These are some of the most inspirational women I've ever "met"! I'm looking forward to getting to know you!

Happy Sunday everyone! It's an absolutely beautiful day her in NoVA. Yesterday I treated myself to a manicure and pedicure while my house was being cleaned. So nice to come back to a clean house. It's one of my little luxuries that I treat myself to....we all need one right? My sister and family and with a 6 year old and 4 year old, you can imagine that my house isn't so clean any longer. Foodwise, I did ok, could've done better. I have been having stomach issues and not really feeling like eating much. I hope to be back on track to day. It's almost 11 and I still need to eat breakfast.

Since the house is clean and the garden in and weeded, I think it's a day of relaxing. I think my DH and I will go walk the lake since it's so nice out. Maybe even hit the pool for a few laps.

I hope everyone had a great day on the beach....stall cool!

hi all,
I too had a manicure and pedicure, it was wonderful. It was my reward.
I love shopping at the Wal-mart superstores. They are amazing.
Congratulations Suzy. I enjoy reading this post because the people here are so human and they have helped me.
Ruth, it sounds like whatever you are doing is fun. Woodstock, all over again. Wow, that would be amazing.
Have a great day everyone.,

Welcome Suzy! And hello to everyone else.

It looks like some of us have been incredibly busy this weekend. I'm jealous of mani-pedi's and getting your house cleaned, Shequila! None of the maid services come out where I live and so my slovenly little hovel only gets the attention I give it. Thankfully, I'm moving next month and hope to be able to find a maid service there. I will definitely treat myself to a cleaning a month. Especially since DH somehow forgot what a tidy bachelor he was (about 2 minutes after we got married).

Today for me marks a new start on this lifestyle change of mine. There's something about milestones that always gives me inspiration. A new week, a new month, whatever--they always seem to help me with that extra push I need to restart for the millionth time any positive change I am struggling with.

So, as soon as Meet the Press is over, I'm going to do my workout, have some breakfast and go to the store. I plan to concentrate on portion control and reducing fats this month, so I will be stocking up with that in mind. Then it's home to clean house and begin sorting/packing things. I'm only working 3 days this week and never later than 9pm so I'm really looking forward to having an almost-normal life!

Happy Weekend to All!

More later, I'm sure...

Hey all! It's a nice weekend here in Boston- last week was a scorcher so we have a bit of a break this weekend. I'm trying to plan out a 4th of July celebration... but it's so hard without a grill! I'm TRYING to avoid having to go to my boyfriend's friends places if possible but I don't know yet. I have a few days to figure it out! Plus we're going to try to make it to the Esplanade to see the Boston Pops, John Mellencamp, and the fireworks!

This weekend I spent the entire time with my boyfriend. Anyone have a good recommendation for ear plugs? lol. I knew he snored but I'd never have imagined this! I got wax ear plugs that saved my ears from a heavy metal concert, but they did not help one bit the past 2 nights. :P It was fun though... his creepy roommate was out the whole weekend so we had the place to ourselves and he was very sweet about the foods he made for me. He got whole wheat naan from the grocery store and a ton of tabouli, 2 kinds of hummus, green beans, and more veggies just so I would be able to eat everything. He doesn't quite get the ins and outs of SB, but he's really trying hard!

Hope everyone is able to stay cool this week and has a great 4th!

Hi all! Just wanted to check in. Sounds like everyone has been busy, as usual, and it's nice to see a new face in the fold! Hi, Suzy!

We made it back from the DMZ without being kidnapped. It was a WONDERFUL trip and we learned a lot. Tom said there were quite a few things that have changed since he was there ten years ago. We had the chance to go to the bridge where Korean families go to pray and offer things up for their families members stuck in North Korea and also for their hometowns in North Korea. From there, we went to hear an explanation of the DMZ by South Korean soldiers and got to peer over into North Korea. We visited one of the tunnels the North Koreans dug to try to infiltrate the South and got to go down and walk it all the way to the underground border. Over 350 meters at an 11 degree slope! It was quite a workout on the way back up! From there we went to the train station where they just recently had a train do a test run to North Korea and back. I don't know if you guys heard about it, but it was big news over here about a month ago. And finally, we got to go to the Joint Services Area, where they do the talks IN the DMZ! We even had the chance to go into the building that straddles the border and step into North Korea! It was a long day but I'm so glad we went!

Here's a picture of Tom and I (and the Republic of Korea soldiers!) at the train station:

Sorry, I couldn't figure out how to resize it so I could upload it.

I was NOT at all good with my eating this weekend. Friday night I snacked a lot, too much South Beach friendly food, and then Saturday let's just say I had a little run-in with some Girl Scout cookies and ice cream. Five thin mints and two scoops of vanilla ice cream somehow made it into my belly and I was not happy with myself! However, Sunday being the first made it easier for me to kick myself back into gear and I had a lovely, beachy day to start off the new month. I am going to stay on plan all week and weigh again on Friday so I don't get discouraged if there was a blip in the progress.

I need to get the kids up and ready. We're taking a month-long Korean class and it starts today. Have a great end of the weekend, everyone!

Evening ladies!

Long day at work, only two more to go until a day off! Went to the store tonight and got all kinds of stuff for the next couple of weeks. We just love refried bean soup (posted recipe in Ph1 Soups) and make it all the time. I made some tonight and now I'm so full I can't eat anything else, even though I probably should since I didn't eat much during the day today. Also got stuff for a black bean and brown rice bake thing, haven't tried it yet, but it sounded good to me.

Tomorrow is finally official weigh-in day. I'm so ready to update my tickie! Also, it has officially been 1 week since my last cigarette. To the minute, even. I don't even think about them much anymore. It's a relief!

Well, jammies are calling my name. Hope you girls have a great night!
