I started trying to be more active a couple of months ago. I jog and bike ride sometimes, but mostly just go for power walks. Recently, I have noticed that my knees are hurting. It has gotten so painful now that walking up the stairs a work makes me cringe. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm only 28 years old, so I'm still somewhat young. Can anyone relate?
I get knee pain when I run (so I rarely do it anymore!), but was told to ice it after a workout back in college. It certainly helped. I hear a clicking noise when I walk up staris, but no pain from it 95% of the time and mild when there is.
I second the idea of getting new WALKING shoes. The better (not always the most expensive ) the shoe the better the support and the better you should feel.
Also, you should consider going to a doctor (I think orthopedic) if it does not improve. You are young, but there is no age requirement for a knee injury!
Thank you for your input. I have a four year old pair of Sketchers, and I know that they are not really meant for running. I guess I will try a new pair (hopefully not too expensive).
I have had a grinding noise in my knees as well when I use stairs for years, but up until lately, it hasn't hurt. I'm going to see my doctor Tuesday, so I will bring it up with him
