Default Beating Myself Up

Well I did day 1 yesterday and all was okay ... until about 9 p.m. I'm starving .... I tried to go to sleep, tried reading, tried drinking water, but then I devoured 2 pieces of pizza and a pb&j. I feel like I failed so badly. I don't know if I did something wrong or if it was a normal feeling. I did Atkins for so long and eating whenever I was hungry and never being hungry that I'm unsure if this is normal. I am pre-diabetic if that matters any and when I get hungry, I get HUNGRY!!!! Like wanting to pass out hungry. Any thoughts?
Today is a new day however and I am doing my best. So far so good.

Cravings are perfectly normal..In fact I believe she dedicated at least part of a chapter to that. We all have cravings. Do you have the book? If not I really recommend you get a hold of a copy. You can get it for as low as 14.00 in some places. The first thing that you need to do is what she recommends in the book. Clean out your kitchen. These foods should not even be in the house. If someone there wants these foods for themselves and are unwilling to part with them for ten days, have them store them someplace you cannot get to or do not know where they are.

You need to always keep a supply of Wave 1 veggies, chopped washed, steamed if you like them that way.. ready to go in the fridge.

I always keep in mind that cravings WILL eventually pass and you won't feel them all the time. Most of us get cravings at certain times like clock work.. three hours after dinner, before bedtime, middle of the night.. etc. Different times for each of us but I bet you know when you usually get the munchies. Always keep in mind that that feeling is transitory.. it too will pass.

Default Aw, honey, don't be so hard on yourself!

You are human, after all...and weight loss is one of the toughest things you will undertake in your life. Just pick yourself up and dust yourself off. Today is a new day. I'd be willing to bet the family farm that every single person on this forum has done exactly the same thing at one time or another. I am here to tell you that there is hope, and you CAN get and keep the weight off. I once weighed 180 lbs. at 5'4". That was more than nine years ago. I have managed to keep most of that excess weight from coming back. Am I perfect at it? No way. I am here now because I allowed myself to gain about 20 pounds back. But I have kept most of it off for all of this time, and it can be done. If you have a bad day, just forget it and keep going. They say it takes 21 days to form a new habit. You are just beginning. Big hugs to you.

We all have our moments of madness, like thin said, it takes time to learn new habits.. Linda gave good advice.. keep prepared!!! If all else fails, I sip a hot drink slowly and then just relax.. some no sugar added cocoa works for me....India

I blew it on Friday, I mean I really blew it, will it happen again, I hope not, but realistically, yeah it might, but hopefully next time I will make better choices. I felt awful on Friday, I don't mean guilty awful, but I could tell a difference in how my body felt, I'm hoping to hang onto that memory and next time I feel the need to blow it, I will make healthier choices.

Saturday was a new day and a new start, it's going to take time for your mind to reprogram itself as to what your body really needs. Just keep plugging away.
