Okay, I officially suck.

You know it's pretty bad when I can't even motivate myself to make a posting for days, but I make sure that the daily thread is here and keep up with the people who are posting. And now that I review things, I realize that it's been almost 5 days since I posted something substantial.

Alright. Time to put in a little effort.
First,

to all of our new members. I'm sure you'll find this gang as wonderful as I do. Only been here for a couple months and I already feel like one of the regular gang. Even if I'm the only rooster in this hen house.
Been kinda busy, though I
think that my co-worker who's been out for the past couple of weeks is finally back in the office this week.

No one seems to know for sure, which is really frustrating, but last I talked to him (this past Tuesday) he told me to expect him back on Monday. That being said, I'm sure he'll take off if he's got more house-related stuff to do. (I did mention he just bought a house and wants to get a bunch of work done before he has to move his stuff out of his apartment, right? Good plan -- that's the way the DW and I did things 5 years ago.) Anyhoo...hopefully that'll help with ye olde work stress this week.
Wednesday night was my normal hookup with a good friend. I've known her for over 10 years now, though we've only recently begun to really recognize the friendship that we share. Meeting her for coffee is one of the highlights of my week and I have become quite accustomed to having that activity as part of the routine.

Of course, is it the activity or the company? Who knows. Who cares. All I know is that good friends are hard to come by, so make sure you all treasure yours and make the time for them.
Thursday - back into the basement. Most of the "main room" has now been drywalled, though I have a few more screws to drive in on a couple of the sheets. 2 or 3 small pieces are also missing - but we'll fill those in when we get some scrap pieces from further works. Between now and this coming Thursday, I'd like to get a start on the crack filling....but I've never done it before and that stresses me out. I'm gonna see if I can't get one of the guys from work to spend an hour or so with me to go over the basics. After the crack filling comes the painting -- and that I can handle (even though I

hate

painting).
Friday was another good social day. DW and I joined 2 other couples (including my Wednesday Coffee Friend & her DH and a Husband-Wife pair from work) for wine & desert. Friend #2 and I had always wanted to try this particular resteraunt's "wine sampler" of "stickies". This is 5 small (like 1.5 fl oz each) glasses of sweet dessert wines - ice wine, sherry, port, etc. It was divine and would most certainly do it again. However, this was the first time I'd ever spent $60 on Wine & Desert for 2.

As I told the DW that night - we don't socialize all that often, so it's all good.

And the time spent with everyone was wonderful. We all agreed we needed to do this more often, just at a cheaper venue.
Yesterday, I spent the day with a bunch of the guys from work for an afternoon of board games. Given the fact that most of us from work are "Geeks" (I mean, we work in IT. What did you expect.

) so we're not much of the 'sit around the TV watching sports, drinking beers and eating wings/chips' type people. So we've traded it for a once-a-month 'sit around the table playing board games, drinking beers and eating wings/chips'.

And we're not talking about Monopoly or Scrabble or stuff like that. No no. We're talking about Risk, Axis and Allies, Talisman, Zombies or stuff like that. We typically take up an entire afternoon with our games -- we were going still strong at 4:30 (after starting at 11:30) when the game abruptly ended thanks to a couple dice rolls. It was a great afternoon.
Today, I'm probably going to finish screwing the drywall this afternoon after church. If the weather holds up, I might even head outside for a walk with the DW. I'm not sure if we're going to brave the malls, but we really do have to start out shopping soon.

Nope. Haven't made any significant strides on that topic. Sad, really, but I just cannot get into the Christmas mood and refuse to put up any decorations until DECEMBER 1ST. It's bad enough when you get the "6 months until Christmas" flyers in the middle of the summer. I'm not going to encourage those retail bozos any further.
So, my mood is slightly better today but that'll probably change in a couple hours. We'll just have to see if it's a positive change or a negative one.
Anyhow, I've written enough to put you all to sleep. Now wake up and get some exercise peoples. Stay strong & stay on program.

OH YEAH! I guess that I'm kinda taking Darcy's (

) advice and am going to start writing. I hope to (re)launch my blog this Friday. If I miss the Dec 1 launch date, then it won't be until the new year. It'll be at
http://rxzephyr.blogspot.com when it's ready and open to the public. (It's invite only while I get it all spiffy.) And depending on how that goes, I have an idea for a piece of fiction that I'm mulling on. If I could just fabricate the time, I might work on that too.
So many ideas, too little time.
