Default Layered Crockpot Dinner

Layered Crockpot Dinner



Ingredients:

2 lbs lean ground beef
2 slices low-sodium, lean turkey bacon, cooked & crumbled
1 small onion, chopped
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce, no salt added
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
2/3 cup uncooked brown rice
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper




Preparation:

Crumble cooked ground beef evenly over bottom of a slow cooker. Sprinkle with bacon, then onion.
In a medium bowl, combine tomato sauce, water, chili powder, salt, and black pepper; pour half over beef and onion layers.
Sprinkle rice evenly over top, then top with remaining tomato sauce mixture, then bell pepper.
Cover and cook on LOW about 5 hours or until rice is tender.




Makes: 8 servings



Serving size: 1/8 recipe

This was a recipe I got while I was on South Beach diet and we had it a number of times.

This is sooo good! I made it last night, and it was awesome! I did add more water to make it like a soup or stew, and I put just a little cheese on top! Yummo!!
