Default 300+ And Ready To Try Again #982

WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!

Hi Ladies - Got in a 74 minute walk with DH tonight!!! Non-stop!! It was AWESOME; we went in a loop and we were about 5 minutes from home...and then we turned around and went all the way back again! We had a great long convo about a ton of things on the way...it was so nice. It was an energizing walk, not a tiring one...we walked 3 miles in that time. Not too fast, but not too slow either....it burned calories for sure, and that's what matters to me. Stayed under my calories today as well!! I'm back on track - 100% Hope everyone is doing well!
Stay OP chickies!!

Well I read everyone's posts, now to REMEMBER, I'm useless at computers so I don't cut & paste or anything unless I really have to!
Jilly you are doing SO WELLxxxxx
Misti, brilliant on your Doc, it's great to visit them and be congratulated rather than told off or being told how your weight is affecting your health. You must be feeling pretty good, all these NSVsxxxx
Ammi, I told you it wouldn't be long before they FIT!! try them in a month and I bet you will fasten them! Hope you enjoy shopping, it will be easier now you're smaller AND fitterxxxx
Valerie, how long before he can be ridden? I am not experienced enough to even attempt to break a horse in, so I don't know the sort of timescale you're looking at. Does it depend on how easily/readily he accepts bits, saddles and weight? I am so jealous and don't know how you have the patience I would want to do it in a week and be able to canter straight after that!!!!lol xxxx
Katt, I'm glad that everyone is helping you not overeat, and that things are getting better at home. On the calorie vs exercise thing I would start at 2,000 and exercise as much as you want/are able to, see how you lose. Some diets give calorie or extra food 'credits' for exercise but to me it seems wrong to 'reward' yourself with food, surely the aim is to take the focus off food and onto fitness, health and to have rewards like a new lipstick, smaller clothes, a cd or dvd or whatever you like & can afford? Hope this helps, Steve wil post the dvd of today, hopefully.xxxxx
Wyllen, love your 'free lunch' acronym, luckily the only free lunches I get are their leftovers, hardly tempting- half chewed, half squashed unidentifiable mush!!!!! xxxx
It looked like I gained 3lbs but they're off again, I really wanted to lose 4 more pounds before we visit my parents next Friday, it would make me 2 stone down (28lbs) BUT now TOM is almost gone and my ankle is hardly hurting at all I can exercise again, starting NOW!!!
So I'm off to do Salsacise & some strength stuff with those bands, they are such fun but it scares me that one day it will 'TWANG' me in my butt or leg and make me cry, lol.

Melissa - WTG on the walk! Much easier to do that when you have someone to talk to.

OK so I weighed myself again this morning, first thing, after peeing and naked as a jay bird. I'm sure you love the visual. And it's 2 lbs less than last night. That's a lot I think for just a night vs. morning weigh-in. I never thought it would be that much. And since today is one week since I started up again I'm going to count it as a loss. Anyone gonna argue? *looks around, eye raised* yeah didn't think so.

Good morning all! it's 5:15a here, and I have to get to work soon, so kinda of quickie. Thank you to everyone for the help with my crisis today. Heather I love TANSTAAFL--it had me laughing-but it couldn't be more true. Misit, I loved you're statement too-"Let unhealthful food go to waste reather than to waist" ! I think you and heather have given me my motto's for the day!

So I've decided--typically with whatever breakfast I eat for Nutrisystem I'm allowed 1 fruit, 1 dairy or protein, 1 starch. So I'm only eating my Nurtisystem food right now, and at the breakfast meeting (I found the Banquet Event Order of what we are going to have there) I'm going to eat fruit, piece of dry toast, and skim milk. That way I'm not eating anything I'm not allowed-but still enjoying something. The trick will be to maintain my resolve when I see the breakfast burritos, and croissants, but I think having a plan before I go in should really help me do it. Plus, I have one really good friend that will be there-I'm going to tell her to make me stick to it, before I see the food, just as back-up.

Melissa- you're excersize habits are such a inspiration with me, you just keep going, and going, and going.... congrats on 3 miles, you're doing great!

Sharon- I just loved what you had to say about non-food rewards. I think our parents, and teachers, get us into that habit, I've even caught myself doing it with my stepson. "If you're good while we are shopping I'll get you some McDonalds" (I'm going to have to stop that, I don't want him to develop the problems I have, even if his too thin now) For me-food rewards are so fixed in my mind I have a really hard time even establishing non-food rewards. I think I'm going to hang onto your list, so that when I'm ready to award myself I have some ideas, besides going out for some dessert

Alright ladies- off to work- thanks for the suggestions. I'll report later on how I do, I'm sure better than I would without this thread, that's for sure Everyone have a good day!

Congrats, Sabrina! I would most definetly say it's a loss- you've likley lost more than that before you had a scale, with one week OP!

oh, yeah....great visual

Kimpossible, thanks, though something I did years ago was to get a silver charm bracelet and every 7lbs lost I'd get a charm, trouble was I'd have had to have taken some off!!!! but it was a good idea at the time, BUT if I'd lost 7lbs for each charm I'd be 150 instead of 258!!lolxxxx
Kenya I forgot to say how well you're doing and I love your name, does it have any significance? I've never known anyone with your name before, but us Brits aren't very adventurous with names. xxxx
I did my 45 mins salsa-cise and stretches/resistance work with the band and feel loads better for it and I had no funny twinges on my ankle like last time. I didn't force it too much though as I want it to be up to walking over all of those paths through the sand dunes. Though to be honest I'm a bit scared as going over loose ground hurts and I'm scared of going over on it again.
Well back to cleaning and refereeing the boys, lol.

Misti – WTG at Chipotle! Actually, sounds like you had all bases covered and did marvelously! Bringing my own food doesn’t mean I can’t take ANY of the free food – I just need to keep any possible hidden costs in mind!

And I’m glad to know there are some healthier Chipotle options. I haven’t been there since I learned that a typical burrito is 1000 calories – too scared to go!!

And, wow, I wish I could have your Doctor!!!!! 

Brenda – Sounds like you need a today. Believe what you said!

Sharon – Ya, that kind of free lunch is less tempting! But I’m glad to see you up and at em again!

Sabrina – Just for info, I am often 2 or more pounds different between night and morning weigh ins (night being higher!). I usually pick my morning weigh in – just be consistent!

Kimberly – having a plan for these kinds of days is important! Let us know how it went!

Sabrina--You'll typically weigh less in the morning than at night not only because of the clothing (err, lack thereof ), but also because your body fasted all night while you were sleeping, so there's no pesky food or drink in your system that isn't really part of you...it's had time to be processed, broken down, excreted, all that good stuff. I've even seen differences of up to 5 pounds (yeah, really) at different points in the same day, so 2 pounds from night to morning is probably pretty normal. In any case, as has been mentioned, I would agree to count a loss since you've been doing so well!

You know, I've NEVER been to a Chipotle, but I do hear good things about their food (taste-wise, not necessarily calorie-wise ). I'm glad you did so well, Misti--shows what a little determination can do even at tempting restaurants!!

Today is Day 11 of my plan, and I'm down another pound as of this morning (now a pound lower than my sig says!). Tomorrow morning, I will weigh again to get my first 11-day cycle total. Tomorrow starts my 3 days of scheduled off-plan eating, and Monday, I will resume with the predetermined menus again. I think it will be interesting to see how much I lose in the next cycle as compared to this cycle with those 3 days of free-for-all in between

Hello, chickies! I thought I'd check in first thing this a.m. for some inspiration!

Melissa: WOW. 3 miles. That's so great! I can't wait until I can do that. There's a park down the hill from where I live with a great walking path. When it's not so hot here, I might try that. Anyhoo, I did get some step aerobics in last night. I still can't do the whole tape all the way through, but I would recover, do some more, recover, do some more, and so on until the end. Which is more than I could do before LOL!

Sharon: Salsacise sounds fun! I wish I could find something like that here, but with big women. I'm intimidated by all those skinny gals looking down on me like I shouldn't be in an exercise class. Besides, I don't have the stamina yet, but I will get there.

Sabrina: A loss is a loss. Count it. I forgot to weigh today, but I only count it once a week anyway. I just weigh in between out of curiosity.

Kimberly: good luck with the breakfast thing. Good plan.

Kenya: Hi! I too like your name. Mine's so plain, I've always hated it.

Hello to everyone else I may have forgotten. I'm new at this forum stuff, but I'm finding that it keeps me in touch and accountable! I signed up for fitday and am keeping track of calories there as well as staying OP for South Beach, exactly as written. But I am curious as to where my cals are coming from and what adjustments I could make within the program to make better choices. This is a journey, and I have to learn new habits. Like actually eating breakfast and lunch like normal people!

TxTilly, it is a dvd with a British woman called Rosemary Conley, she does exercise videos and runs slimming& exrcise classes all over the Uk. She was even honoured by the Queen for her work with health& fitness!!!! Lots of the women featured in her videos have lost 30, 40 even 60 or 70 lbs, she often shows you before & after pics. If you can get any of her stuff in the Us it might be worth giving it a go as she explains and counts through everything and there are easy, meduim & hard options offered for most of the exercises. I have no rythm or co-ordination at all but even I can follow her after a couple of goes!!xxxx

Misti - congratulations about Chipotle. I'm actually not a Chipotle fan and last time I went there, I tried to do my best but I did think it was difficult. I also didn't eat it all though which is probably the biggest issue there (and most restaurants). I am really learning to cut my meal in half when I go out to eat though.

Jill - Congratulations on your progress, that is really awesome. As far as Chipotle goes, I like Baja Fresh much better. When I go out to eat these days, it is usually Baja Fresh, Panera or Moby Dick's Kabob.

Sabrina - I always weigh in the morning because I weigh less than at night. Although when I used to weigh at the gym, I'd have to weigh at the night since that is when I went. Luckily my work has a nurse's office with a medical type scale that I weigh on.

I hope everyone is doing well. I'm having kind of a stressful week. This is my last week of classes and work is busy so there are a lot of things to do. Also, I was feeling sick earlier this week and I'm still not feeling 100%.

nelie--ha, you know, I've only been to Baja Fresh one time, and that was just a few weeks ago (even though I've been living in this area for almost 2 years now). It was pretty good, but it was soooo crowded when we went (it was lunch rush on a weekday near a bunch of big office buildings), but I could see how it's easy to make good choices there since you pick and choose exactly which toppings you want. I'm actually a huge fan of California Tortilla, though I don't think they have many locations; they have some very unique options that aren't necessarily just Mexican, so they have a lot of variety.

TxTilly--sounds like you've gotten a great start on your journey! You already have such great ideas/knowledge that some people take a loooong time to get the hang of (i.e., tracking calories even on South Beach, seeing where your calories are coming from so you can make good choices, etc.). Keep up the great work!
