Default 300+ And Ready to Try Again...#977

WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!

Hello All,

I hope everybody is having a good Sunday. I had a ridiculously long lie in this morning, I didn't get up until 10.45 Since then though I have been productive, I made the bed, took the washing off the line (indoors) and put more on there, did half an hour on my Rider, and now am here catching up with all of you. I will do my ironing later but other than that I haven't got much else planned.

I am loving reading about everybody's love of video games. It does seem like Nintendo and X Box is the more popular console. Daren (DH) has never fancied those (well apart from his Nintendo Game Boy Advance lol) he loves his PC games, followed by PS games the best. He is 100% into RPGs, and loves the SIMS. I have had a go on that game myself, we got a cheat so we could have lots of money, and I just love to make and decorate the houses, not bothered about playing the characters

Patti - you told me that your hubby doesn't let you play PC games because of the memory etc that they take up. Maybe if you convince him to upgrade the PC, or better still, buy a new one then he couldn't say no to PC games

Hope you haven't got a headache today.

Valerie - oooh I don't like the sound of Bill kicking you off the truck. I mean I know you don't mind because that's the idea of all that you are going through now, to keep off the truck. But I am guessing he isn't a very happy chappy right now, sorry

Jill - did you make the low fat crab cakes yourself, or buy them? I like the sound of them, but don't know if I would like to make them myself. What is your fave fish? Mine is smoked cod, yummy!

Norma - isn't Richard Simmons great? I have his Disco Sweat DVD, I only did it once because at the time it nearly killed me, and of course now I have my Gazelle Rider. But when I hit my first plateau, or just fancy a change from the Rider I am going to dance with Richard again

I love to knit and to do cross stitch as well. I do counted cross stitch and with two kids it's hard to keep them to shut up long enough to concentrate on it, so I haven't done any in ages. As for knitting I am in the middle of knitting a fisherman's rib sweater for my hubby, but it's been WAY too hot to knit recently, so it's going to have to wait until winter until I finish it

NightKatt - what games do you like on Pogo. We have quite a time difference between us, but if you ever fancy a game of Canasta or something I am AmmiUK on there

I love cross stitch, and would love to see some of the work you have done.

LOL about what you said about where the fat all goes and that you know some skinny chicks you wouldn't mind it hitting before the next reunion I think we all know a few of those girls.

OP by the way, to me means On Plan, but I know others think of it as on Programme. It just means you are sticking to your diet

Kenya - keep on telling yourself that even if you move side to side it's still moving, because you are RIGHT. When I first started dieting after sorting out my anti depressants, even though I wasn't exercising the weight still came off, and it has to be down to the fact that I wasn't spending 90% of my day in bed. Just walking around the house and being up makes all the difference, so for you to be moving even side to side, it will be having a great effect on your weight loss I am sure!

I also totally agree with what you said about the fact that our weight didn't come on us overnight, so it's not going to go that fast either. Remembering that is very important and helps me to be less impatient. As it is I am sure we are all going to lose it much quicker than we gained it, just not overnight

Missy - I haven't tried the new Dice City Rollers on Pogo yet. I have been busy getting my badges and I am kind of hooked on Lottso at the moment. I might give it a try later today though.

I enjoy watching Daren play GTA, it makes me laugh sometimes when I see some of the stuff his character has to do. I am sure when GTA 4 comes out it will be on his Christmas list, will it be out in time for then?

Brenda - what RPGs does Steven like, does he play them online? Daren's fave RPGs are all online games, Everquest 2 is his all time fave, I even bought him an Everquest gaming keyboard for Father's Day from the girls lol.

Sabrina - I hope you get GTA on the pc for Christmas, I just asked Daren, and he said he actually prefers to play it on the PC, but he only knows that from a trial disc he had. Sadly for him, he only has the series on PS2 format. Aww poor guy

Luan - why are you off to Oregon, is it work of pleasure? I hope you have a lovely time there.

Why haven't you been tracking your points lately? Are you trying to use what you have learned about healthy eating without bothering with the points? I hope you see a nice loss on the scales next time you WI. Are you going to be dieting while you are in Oregon?

Misti - wow have you gone all this time without having your own set of bathroom scales? I guess there wasn't really a need for them seeing as you were being weighed at work. I had to have scales because I had nowhere away from home to go to be weighed and there's no way I was going to step on those scales right in the middle of a supermarket, or chemist (drug store) lol. Why can't they ever put those things somewhere discreet!

Kimpossible - I am glad that you are still posting despite the speed these threads go. I always get upset when I realise that people won't post because they feel they can't keep up. I always say that as long as you can pop in and say hi and how the weight loss is going, it's much better than nothing

conrats on the 4.5 loss already, you must be so thrilled with that. Well done

Yes you are right that I am focused, I really want to get to my goal this time. I have had more than enough of yo yo dieting. I will try my best to make good food choices while I am away, and if I suceed at it, and gain a small amount, or better still, gain nothing, then I will be sure to come here and explain how I did it. Though something tells me I might end up coming to say, woops, I ate to much, but who cares, I had a fab time. I know I can lose whatever I do gain, but like I said, I will be careful.

Nightkatt already told you, but just to reinfore it, yes NSV stands for Non Scale Victories

Angie, Nelie, Nancy, Zelma, Sue, Sharon, Heather, Annie, Newsnerd, Jen, Juliet, Kayley, Idril, Xena, Mel, Crock, Lilion, Vicki, Brandnewme, Esmeraude, Tracey, MariaLucia, Alison, and anybody else I haven't mentioned hope you are all having a good day, are staying OP, and will post soon.

Hugs,

Ammi

Good morning everybody! Happy Sunday.

Kimpossible you are sure right... this thread really flies! Tee hee

Ammi, yes, I have always just used the scales at work. They are in a workout room so I can sneak in and do it privately. Still... have to weight with clothes of course! I decided for $18 I can have my own set of scales! And yay this morning I am down two pounds! Part of it could be the clothes, of course, or the difference in scales... but hey, I'm taking it! I've waited too long LOL.

I want to get into the 230s sooooooooooooooooooo badly!! Doesn't sound like as much.

Ammi--I'm not much of a fish expert...I eat VERY little fish. I was raised in a house that didn't eat any because my father is allergic to shellfish and my mother just plain doesn't like fish, so every time I have any is a new adventure for me The crabcakes were bought frozen, and they came out kinda chewy, but I baked them instead of frying them, so I think they would have been better fried (well, cooked in a frying pan with some non-stick spray, at least).

To those wondering, yes, NSV-Non-Scale Victory

As for games, yes, I too have been addicted to the SIMS. I can't play the Sims 2, though, because my computer is too old But lately, I have also been known to play Zoo Tycoon for hours on end When I was in college, we played Gran Tourismo so often and so loudly that the guys in the apartment below us came up to ask us to calm down! Yup, I lived in an apartment of 6 girls, and the guys were asking us to cool down with the video game. Actually, it's how we met our downstairs neighbors, and we actually all became friends, so hey, video games can bring people together We even had this little chair we dubbed the "racing chair" that was super comfortable--just a regular upholstered chair that had the legs all taken off so it sat all the way down on the floor. Ahh, those were the days

Still sticking to my new plan--gonna go have some breakfast now!

I just thought I would catch up quickly before getting started on cleaning and stuff. I'm doing pretty well. We went for a walk yesterday at a local park near a lake and it was beautiful. I am thinking of buying a seasonal pass to the park system and trying to get out to them more often. My BF doesn't get any exercise at all, so it would be good for him too.

As far as games go, I am an RPG fan myself - mostly Diablo, Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights type stuff. For some reason I don't like first person, so that limits me a bit.

Maybe I will get some time to check back in later. Have a great day everyone!

I thought I'd come out of lurkdom to say "hello" to kimpossible. I notice you live in Grapevine. I'm in Plano, so I just wanted to say "Howdy neighbor!"

As for me, I haven't been posting much lately but I have been reading and following along with the threads. I am glad to see so many of you doing really well and so many new faces too.

Take care everyone.

Default Happy Sunday!

Hello, everyone! I hope you all are having a great weekend. I just checked in and see that you all were talking about video games and we got the Sims Complete Collection and can't use it! I got my computer last year and have to upgrade the drivers and stuff I guess. I haven't really worked on it. I found an older game "Space Colony" which is like the Sims but set in space and I really like it. But my computer froze, I think I had a virus, so I did a system restore and had to load everything else back. I haven't loaded it back yet.

So, I have been OP for two weeks and will be breaking new ground by going forward a third week. I really find you all very encouraging to go forward and appreciate you all being here! I usually quit after two weeks, but am finding it easier this time.

Everyone in my family has lost weight, just by making some very basic changes. I am the only one that is diligent about staying OP at all times, but I am not buying junk or sugared drinks. I am buying LF and reduced cal. stuff and lots of fresh veggies and lean meats. My two kids were kinda so-so about the whole thing, but when they saw they lost weight, now they are so supportive and behind me 100%. Which is great, because I never really had support on the home front before.

I can't wait until someone can tell a difference. BTW, when does everyone weigh themselves? I have always weighed once a week, but my sister would weigh herself once a month. Some people weigh everyday, and I have to admit that I didn't wait a whole week this time because I was curious as to whether or not I was losing weight. So, I'm interested to know what you all are doing and what you recommend?

Hi all,

I've been keeping up with you guys but haven't had a chance to post on my adventures. Yesterday, I did do a hike and it was nice to be out without the heat and humidity killing me. It was a nice hike along the Potomac river that seperates Virginia and Maryland. Today, I am going to do another hike most likely. Might as well do it while the weather is good

Yesterday, My DF took me clothes shopping. I had some good coupons and my clothes are downright baggy. My size 24 pants were falling off on me and I needed some work clothes. I am now a size 20. It has been so long since I've been a size 20. I also bought some shirts that were 14/16 and one didn't quite fit as it was a button down but it is more for the future anyway.

As far as video games go, I wouldn't say I'm the video game type but once in a while I'll get a PC game. I am super competitive though and want to finish any game I get immediately so I will push through it. In which I spend hours sitting on my butt and well I don't like that part of it

I hope everyone is doing well.

Good Morning, all! Well if you read my other thread you knew my scale dilemma. I decided to just bite the bullet and order a new one online. I don't know what I'll do with the old one, maybe I'll sell it if I don't like this one. The new one can talk. Yeah I'm going to be turning that feature off.

TxTilly - Typically, when I have a scale that works, I weigh in once a week. Completely naked, first thing in the morning, before showering, and after going to the bathroom. I honestly would forget if it were only once a month, but whatever works for you, works for you they say.

Video Gamers - Well I looked up GTA for the PC and it requires a DVD drive, which I don't have. But I realized that by then we may have our PS3 and they are backwards compatible so maybe we'll get it for the PS2 again. I'll just have to forbid DH from eBaying it. I swear he'd eBay the cat if I turned around.

Has anyone played Dance, Dance, Revolution? I've heard of people losing weight doing that, but of course you have to have the add on dance mat. I don't think the floor beams in my house could handle me jumping around. There's also a "game" called Yourself!Fitness that has a virtual personal trainer and can help with workouts and nutrition I think. I hope it's OK I post this link to their website: www.yourselffitness.com it's available for PC, PS2, and XBox. McDonald's is giving away DVDs with parts of the program with their Go Active Adult Happy Meals. I haven't tried it though because I don't like their salads.

NotTheCheat - Oooh I love RPGs too! I've wanted to try Neverwinter Nights for ages but haven't been able to. I've played Diablo II and Baldur's Gate (later versions anyway) and liked both of those. I don't care for first persons either. They actually make me a little queasy from all the movement!

Goodday ladies! How is everyone doing?

Misti- Congrats on you two pound loss. That is great!

Sue- I weigh myself daily but I only change my ticker on Sundays. That is my offical weigh in day. I am down 3 pounds today

Nancy great job on the walk. A park pass sounds so great and would be a good investment.

Ammi- you day sounds like mine Lots of house work but I can never sleep pass 5 am my body will not let me sleep in. I guess it is because I like going to bed so early.

Everyone have a good day...

Am I slow or what. I just realised that the egg at the left hand side of a persons post has a yellow yolk in it if the person is currently online, and no yolk if they aren't!!! How novel.

Misti - unless you were wearing heavy jeans and a woolen sweater when you weighed at work, I am pretty sure that the 2 lbs you have lost weren't down to your clothes being off when you weighed at home, so WOOHOO those scales are moving down again And yes I know it could be down to the different scales, but in my experience I always weigh more on new scales lol. So I am with you, take that 2 lbs you deserve it

Jill - I don't eat fish much either, I have tried shark, haddock, plaice and marlin, they were all ok, but smoked cod is the nicest. It's a shame really considering that Cod is getting to be an endangered fish over here Good for you for experimenting with new things like the crab cakes, it's a shame that you didn't get to try out fish at home, but it's never too late is it Glad the crab cakes turned out ok, albeit a little chewy, next time you cook them I am sure they will be perfect.

I had a laugh at the boys downstairs in your old place telling you girls upstairs to cool down with the game playing What a turn around. That chair you used to have sounded great, though not quite as good as a person I know of He is NUTS on planes, and through a friend he got a real ejector seat from an old war plane, has set it up in his attic, got all sorts of plane paraphanlia spread around him, and he sits in front of his PC playing plane simulator games!! The ejector seat apparently is in working condition, his friend warned him not to get too excited playing his game or he might go through the roof

Well done on sticking to your plan, you got through a Saturday, and we all know how hard they are, so

Patti - sorry you have a headache again, I hope you won't put off going to the doctor for too long.

How are you doing on Lottso, do you ever come top of the leader board. I did, TWICE in a row yesterday, I managed to get the super lottso board to drop and that always helps me get a good score.

When do you think you will get your DS, I don't know, but with all the hoopla about them I might give Caleigh's a go when we are travelling to London. She sleeps a lot when she travels, so when she sleeps I can play, or at least attempt to, lol.

Nancy - good job you and the other ladies who love video games aren't close to me, my hubby might run off with you Especially you Nancy, as Daren used to be a big fan of Baldur's Gate (he got a special edition game that came with a t-shirt, lol) Neverwinters Night and Diablo. He told me to ask you if you have played Guild Wars, it's a great RPG and it doesn't cost anything to play like Everquest and all the others seem to.

That sounds like a great idea to get a seasonal pass to the parks, it will be great exercise for you and your BF. If you take a picnic (low fat of course) it could be nice and romantic too

Xena - glad to hear you have been reading even if you haven't been posting. I have been missing your posts though and hope you feel up to writing more soon

Sue - hi, glad to hear you have made it through two weeks of your diet and are heading onto the third. You said you normally give up before now so can I just say how proud I am that you are doing so well this time

That's wonderful that you have the family's support and that they are all at least cutting back and have seen some weight loss too. I am like you, I prefer to stay OP all the time even though hubby who is trying to lose weight is allowing himself treats and still manages to lose weight My girls, well they pretty much eat what we do, so they are eating lower fat stuff, but they also have the occasional bar of chocolate or packet of crisps so they don't mind it so much.

As for weighing, I weigh once a week on a Monday. I think it's safer to not leave it longer than that because if you are doing something wrong like I did once by not realising how much Hot Chocolate powder Daren was using in my mug and that I had the points all wrong, so I wasn't losing weigh, well you find out too late then. I would never weigh at all if I could help it, but I need to know if the weight is coming off so I do it. I tried weighing daily many diets ago, but it was just ridiculous how ever WI was different, down 2 lbs one day, up 4 the next, down 1 the next day, up 1 the next. Crazy. So yep, weighing weekly works best for me. I weigh before breakfast and in my nighty, after going to the loo of course

I hear you on the SIMS and how you need to upgrade your PC before you can play it. It does take up a lot of room and RAM doesn't it. The girls PC can only play it if there is no other games installed, and then it still runs slow. My lap top can't take it at all, but Daren's PC has huge specs so it can run even the SIMS 2 series. I hope you can get your PC upgraded so that you can go back to playing it. In the mean time it sounds like you are having fun with Space Colonies. Daren did fancy that at one stage, but we never got around to buying it.

Nelie - wow that is brilliant that you had to go buy smaller clothes. We are so close in weight, and our height is the same, but we are obviously so differently proportioned. I haven't bought new clothes for a while, but I would say I am a 24 top and 26/28 bottoms. I think if I were your measurments I wouldn't care what the scales said, I wouldn't be dieting

When you said about buying a PC game and sitting at the PC until you finish it, Daren does that sometimes, and I am like, what a waste of money it didn't even last a day Nowadays he tends to buy the RPGs that are online so they pretty much go on forever, much more value for money

Sabrina - What a shame about the game needing a DVD drive. They aren't too expensive to buy, well not here anyway, could you add one to your PC, or are you happy to wait until the PS3 comes out? Or maybe happy isn't the right word, patient is a better one

I haven't got Dance Dance Revolution, but we do have a PS2 game that you use with a dance mat which can either be for fun, or you can put it on work out mode to see how many cals you are working off. It's the girls game, but I think when I feel fit enough to use it I will be borrowing it.

The game you mentioned and put a link to I am going to go check out as soon as I am done here, it sounds like it might be good.

That's great that you got new scales, I think if I had talking ones I would be turning them off too, lol. I was looking at scales the other day and saw ones that are called Goal Scales. They have a read out that says your weight, the weight you are aiming for, and how much you have to lose to get there. It's a good job I didn't see them before I bought my current scales or I would order them like a shot!!

Kenya - congrats on the 3 lbs down you are obviously doing so well with all that dancing!!

Wow what time do you go to bed to be able to get up at 5 am. Some days I don't even go to sleep until then My normal bed time is midnight, but some days I don't turn the PC off until 1 or 2 am. Last night it was a midnight sleep time though, so why I slept so late I don't know.

Ok got to go email now, but I'll be back

Hugs,

Ammi

Ammi- I am in bed by 8 pm. Usually since I have young children (7 and 4) and they go to bed at 8 pm I am so tired by that time that I also just fall right asleep. DH is lucky if he can stay up pass 8 pm also. We usually wake up between 4:30 and 5 am each day. Early to bed and early to rise. Now during the school year since I have many nights when I have to burn the midnight oil my body still will not let me sleep past 5 am.

Kenya - well yes that makes sense for you to go to bed the same time the kids do when you are feeling so tired. You do get a good 8 hours or so sleep, so that's the main thing. Me, I have forgotten what a good night's sleep is. Since having my ostomy I have to get up at least 3 times a night to empty the bag and although I can do it half asleep these days, it still disturbs my nice sleep. Maybe I should go to sleep in the bath so it won't matter what mess I end up in

Hugs,
