I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.
If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.
Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

Hi Ladies - Got in some exercise this evening...13 minute walk, 20 minutes strength training, and 5 minutes of yoga/stretching. (I walked 37 minutes earlier today.) Tomorrow I plan to walk home from after doing my errands...but since it's quite a bit further than my usual mall walk of 2 miles I will bus home and just get off a few stops from home and walk 15 minutes or so to get home...there's a plan. Now to see HOW MANY stops away I choose to get off at. We will see!
Hope everyone has a good day!
Stay OP chickies!!
Well I did a really long post yesterday BUT HIT THE WRONG BUTTON and lost it!!!! grrrrr
Ammi sent me a message SHE LOST 2lbs, WOOHOOO!!! FOR AMMI!!!!!
Gareth had a party yesterday, I was almost crying because he wouldn't play games, eat or interact with anyone. (He's Autistic) Normall he joins in eventually when he relaxes, I heard one of the mums remark on my miserable face which made it worse. The birthday girl's mum was lovely though. Steve was on an early shift so he came halfway through and Gareth sttled a bit, even if he didn't watch the magician. What is it with kids parties these days???? no one has them at home anymore, they hire halls or venues, with magicians, discos and other entertainers, they must spend so much money!!! This one did have homemade food though AND FRESH FRUIT!!! which made a lovely change from the fried fast food normally served.
I really don't have much time BUT, Annie you are doibg so well, I know and have faith in you that you will lose weight and get healthy, it's great that hubby will go along to W/W with you.xxxx
Kayley glad you are busy, I'm sure the weight will start to drop off soon, you are so busy!!! I sent you some messages on msn but didn't realise you worked in the week too, sorry.xxx
I have to tidy the house up.
xxsharon
Wow, all this talk about how active everyone is and all the exercise everyone is doing...almost enough to inspire me to get up off my butt I was walking up the stairs to my apartment for a while (4 flights), but then when the really insane heat hit, the stairwells, garage, and basement of my building have no a/c, so it was actually even hotter in the stairways than outside since there was hardly even any air circulation, and with heat indexes of 110+, I wasn't about to climb those stairs unless someone held a gun to my head
I must be doing something right, though because the scale is slowly but surely making its way back down. I had gotten back up to about 296, but this morning, it said 293, and that's after 4 hotdogs for dinner last night (they were fat free/low cal, but still chock full o' sodium!). I spent some time last night preparing food for today--no excuses! I took out chicken to thaw overnight, and then this morning, I forked it and put it in a big ziploc bag with some Italian marinade to soak all day, so dinner's already half done--just need to toss it in a pan in the oven for a bit and maybe cook up some corn to have with it. I also made my salad for today's lunch last night--I cooked up a whole pound of lean ground turkey with some salsa, chili powder, onion, garlic, and just a sprinkle of crushed red pepper, so I have a small container of that to add to my large container of romaine, cabbage, and shredded cheese, plus a container of salsa and ff sour cream to use instead of dressing. Breakfast this morning was a small piece of ham and a few pineapple chunks, and I'll have egg salad (w/ff mayo and a bit of light Miracle Whip) as a snack when I get home. It feels so good to have a plan in place and to ACTUALLY follow it
I've also been doing something else important for me--drinking at least 2 liters of water each day, not including additional servings of sugar-free kool aid and diet soda--maybe that's helping to ward off some of the sodium-induced water retention.
Alrighty, time to work, since I've bene in the office for almost half an hour now and have successfully filled my water bottle, put my lunch in the fridge, and typed this message
Wow Jill .. sounds like you are really on a good track .. the food sounds delicious and its always a great thing to get it ready the day before .. well ... the night .. Before I go to bed I get breakfast on the table (well .. the cereal anyway lol) and I get my milo ready and make sure the jug is full so that all I have to do when I come out in the morning is switch on the jug, pour my cereal and (as its winter over here and pretty chilly in the morning still) I pop it in the micro to heat up the milk then by the time it beeps the jug has boiled and my piece of toast has popped up, I have my toast first cos I hate cold toast lol ... but its a good start esp considering Im soooo not a morning person and Im not used to eating before midday lol .. I have the rest of my foods lined up for the day after I finish breakfast so that I know what Im having and then I refill my water bottle to finish off by midday, have my lunch, refill the bottle to finish by dinner, then I just have another couple of cups to have for my 2 litres of water .. definitely a lot easier than trying to remember how many cups I have had lol .. and so far its worked (started doing it this way on Sunday - its now Tues night in NZ).
I have been considering become an Avon rep .. but I think I will wait til Im a little more confident about my appearance before I do that .. but thats another goal for me to aim for
Everyone is doing so wonderfully .. I definitely need to think more about exercise .. but a little a day is better than nothing
Have a great day all .. its about to turn midnight so I should be getting to bed lol .. night!
wow way to go Ammi another 2 pounds! and Misti i sure know how you feel i have been losing and gaing the same 2 pounds for awhile now it is very upsetting!
And I was just funnin' you a bit about the exercise. I do get your point and it is very easy for people sometimes to overdo it especially when they first start out. I tend to go at it full force -- but when I was younger and in shape I was extremely athletic. So I am actually enjoying being so active again... in fact I wish I had time to do more LOL.
ah! gotcha! Now I see what you're saying! I think people can overdo it (be careful, Melissa! ) but I also think people set lofty goals and get discouraged when they don't meet them right away and give up! I have never been an exerciser and this is definitely the harder part to keep in place for me! And selfishly, I want people to stick around so our exercise numbers keep going up and up and up!!!
And I have a secret, but you can't tell anybody. Despite my moans every time I lace on my sneakers, I am also enjoying the exercise, or rather, really enjoying the results of the exercise! Sometimes I even like lifting at the gym! And I often like walking, esp outside! How is that possible when I still have to force myself to do this a lot of the time??
Jill, I live on the 4th floor of an apartment building. There is no elevator. Suprisingly, it was my choice to live there. Moving up there was a pain and moving again will be a pain but oh well. I can definitely feel the difference the 20 lbs that I've lost since I moved in though. My legs would tire out on the 3rd floor when I was bringing up groceries or something heavy. They no longer do. Of course exercise helps as well.
Melissa, you are doing awesome with exercise, keep it up.
Misti, I know you said you are losing inches but the weight isn't falling off? Very strange. I have had really long plateaus before, months and months. Usually I have to shake it up a bit to lose again.
My exercise is suffering due to my insomnia. I sleep in late, get home late, can't do exercise before my DF arrives and I'm too tired to do anything strenuous anyway. Since high level activity late at night can aggravate insomnia, I'm trying to do more calming exercises at night. So I did yoga last night, which still made me sweat and challenged my muscles. I feel super tired when I go to bed but can't sleep, sometimes I'll be able to fall asleep and then wake up a couple hours later, then the rest of the night is intermittent. For the next few days, I'm giving up caffeine to see if that helps. I have been only drinking caffeine earlier in the day but maybe I need to give it up entirely for a while.
Nightkatt--I agree that it can be a pain to keep track of how many cups of water you have if you're actually just drinking a cup at a time. I have 2 1-liter bottles at my office, so I fill them both and put them in the fridge when I leave in the afternoon and make I sure I drink them both the next day, so I get my 2 liters in while I'm at work. I also have some diet soda and sugar-free Kool Aid, but I don't count that
nelie--I live in a 16-story building, so we definitely have an elevator However, my first 3 years in colege, I lived on the third floor with no elevators, and yet all the way through the very last day, I still got winded going up those stairs, so who knows if it even does any good
Ammi--congrats on the -2 pounds!
As for me, still workin' hard...I love that even when I have down time at this job, I get to do things I enjoy. I'm currently working on making some layout templates, so I get to be a little creative, which is always a bonus I'm starting to get hungry, but I want to hold out till 11:30 before I grab my lunch (it's 10:57 right now!).
Good morning, ladies. Just a quick post before I get some work done for my online class. I have 21 days to finish a class and a half...eeps! Then, it's off to work, yet again. Hopefully, I'll be starting the new position sometime next week, as the girl that's currently doing it, is heading back up to college on Saturday, so Friday is her last day. Got in a 30 minute walk this morning with my Mom...went up to vote, and came back. Going to try and get a walk in with Andrew this evening, and we're going to do some Yoga together. I love the Yoga dvd I got.
Hello chickies!
It's a hot day here in NC already!! Not sure if I'll get my walk in, but I'm going to try.
I'm getting a little nervous about my doctor's appt. on Thursday, as it will be the first time I've weighed in a month. I don't know what to expect. I think I've lost, because some of my clothes fit differently (I have a pair of jeans that I can take off an put on w/o unzipping/buttoning them!) but looking in the mirror, I don't see a difference. I'm gonna have to post a pic here and follow up in a month and let y'all be the judge!

When I had lost over 40 pounds from my highest weight, I still didn't see a difference in the mirror. This happens to a lot of people, and I think there are 2 main reasons:
you see yourself everyday, so you don't notice the gradual changes over time. I bet if you visited with someone who hasn't seen you since you started losing weight, they would notice right away.
you're used to seeing yourself at your high weight. A lot of women actually reach their goals and still think they are the same fat person they were when they started. It takes time for your brain, eye, and body to all coordinate
newsnerd -- I agree with Jill that it can take time to see a difference... some days I swear I still don't see a difference, even though I'm well aware that there IS one. self-perceptions are odd!
Jill-- I now walk up the stairs to a 5th floor office and am winded. A colleague of mine who also does says she always gets winded, but has noticed her recovery time getting shorter and shorter! Maybe that's a measure to look at...
Hi Ladies....Had my weigh-in....I stepped on it 5 times to confirm the same number....then once more a bit later, lol....so, here it is: I LOST 6 POUNDS!!!!!!!
I made up for my 2 weeks of losing nothing, and met both of my mini-goals, as well!! I'm soooooooo incredibly happy right now...not only have my exercise and eating been great, but now I have "proof" of it!
Yay, lol!! Sorry for going on and on, but I'm just so darn happy!! I told DH that I don't ever remember seeing 329 on the scale except for "when I passed it on the way up"!! LOL! DH and I did a little...well big...happy dance when it was confirmed - ROFL! Wow...I can't believe I've lost 27.5 pounds in 12 weeks!
Hope everyone is having a good one!
