Default She's here!

I was backing the truck out of the back yard and backed around where I could see the back pasture. The young ones were standing there and I looked over to see Ginger standing by herself. NO WAIT! She's not by herself! What's that standing beside her! OMG! Its a baby. I jumped out of the truck, ran to the back door and screamed into the house. Scared the poop out of DH. So far so good. I have momma and her in the corral and shed and baby seems to be pooping and eating. I've already been touching her and she can buck! Hopefully I've done a good job with the iodine on the cord. Momma looks good too. The vet is coming out this morning to check both of them. She had her baby out in the middle of the pasture because I had quit putting her up at night. Guess Richard was WRONG! HAHA

She looks just exactly like I expected except she's a girl and not a boy! This is my third baby but the first that I got to be with this young. OMG, hope I don't become addicted to having babies. Okay, get a grip!

Here she is!

Wow, Terri, fun to see!

Well, looks like I wrote the last post in the old week's thread. I'd written that I'd lost 3 of the 5 pounds I'd gained from repeated cheating and going off the diet for 3 (planned) days. Well, I just weighed myself and another 1 1/2 pounds came off. The scale is just plummeting -- let it continue! Really, I think some of it was getting rid of TOM water retention, and it may also be a daily fluctuation downward... but I'll take it!

Now to really be good all weekend and get some kind of exercise in, too.

Talking

Good Afternoon Ladies!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PONY!

Terri: Does she have a name? She's sooo cute! I love baby horses! She's so skinny! Guess Ginger will fatten her up soon! Hope you aren't like me when it comes to decorating. I have SO MANY IDEAS and I do NOTHING! Of course, it sounds like you aren't so cheap as me - I HATE spending money on things I think I can do myself - like making curtains. Problem is I get my stuff together and then never get around to doing it. Four years we've been in this house and I still haven't gotten 1/2 the decorating done.

Sue: Congrats on the raise! We are finally getting ours Monday - 4%. The first raise in YEARS too! The State of Missouri state employees are the WORST paid employees in the COUNTRY!

Valerie: Glad you had a nice time at the fair. You're better than me if you didn't get a funnel cake. But WTH is an elephant ear? Never heard of them. I hope your "get a grip" day isn't too stress-filled.

Angela: Sorry to hear about the money issues...I think everyone has them these days. Sounds like you've got some great plans for the future.

Karen, Ruth, Celery: Howdy!

Siena: I've thought about trying the Yogurt cheese. For anyone who doesn't know...that involves simply getting a big thing of regular yogurt and hanging it in cheese cloth until all the liquid drains out of it. Totally simple. I've been told that when indian or middle eastern recipes call for yogurt, the yogurt cheese is way closer to what they mean. I may have to try that soon too. I wonder if you can use lowfat yogurt and have it turn out? Congrats on the loss! You'll have that back off in no time.

Well all, the casino was fun. DH won $150.00 playing craps! Of course, I lost $150.00 playing blackjack. So we came home with pretty much exactly the same amount we left with, less drinks and food. A reasonably cheap date! Food was pretty bad...we did Red Lobster and I have Salmon New Orleans - which is just the BEST, but SO fattening probably what with the cream sauce. On the up side, we split an appetizer and got the 1/2 size entree and didn't have dessert - and were still stuffed. I'm retaining enough fluids to water my lawn! Hopefully a lot of water over the next few days will fix that.

It's a dull day today. Slept late and then picked up the boy and the dogs at noon. DS has a friend staying over tonight, so our TV will be mostly monopolized with video games and SpongeBob! I think I'll work some more on our curtains for our bedroom. We'll see what I can get done.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Stay cool! The temp ourside my kitchen window is 100 Degrees on the DOT!

Terri--She's so sweet! I love those two white legs. We're all waiting for a name!

Thanks to everyone for the support on all my "issue" fronts.

Down a pound this week--4.5 pounds lost for the month. I know it's better than nothing, but I really want to "kick it up a notch" in August. I think I should be able to get a lot more exercise in. I've got 5 zillion back exercises now, and I'm going to keep them up in hopes of preventing another period of inactivity.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

Hi ladies,

The vet came and checked momma and baby. He thinks she might be a little bit early as he said she is kind of small. Well, she is a lot smaller than Bear! But she is hopping around and talking to her momma. So cute to hear her whinney.

DH wants to name her Blaze because of her face. I'm thinking ZZ after ZZ Top's Legs as she is all legs at this point. Any suggestions? We've had a Glory and a Star before. She was born under the stars early this morning.

I learned how to vacuum the pool today. Even the pool has housework.

I'm not sure how I didn't get anything done today. So I have lots to do tomorrow after church. The bathroom must be cleaned tomorrow. And vacuuming. And ironing. And mopping.

I'm glad that you all enjoy seeing the baby and hearing about her. Thanks for the comments!

Siena - Congrats for your loss!

to everyone!

Goodnight!

Terri - my daughter says she is SO CUUUUUUUTTTTTTTEEEEE! And no, we don't want her, no matter what Krista says. Seriuously, sounds like Ginger knew what she was doing, and did an execellent job. About those European vacations - they would be good for us, wouldn't they.

Valerie - your food wasn't a total disaster - lots of sugar, but at least you avoided the fried stuff, which is what gets me every time. My cholesterol is no accident.

Vortex - money stuff can be really scary. Hope it works out for you.

Siena - Consider your local YMCA as a health club. We belong to our community recreation center, and it's pretty darn good. I'm trying not to talk about actual numbers at work, except with another woman who's about my weight. She has blood pressure issues, so we can swap progress. But to every body else, thank you I am eating healthier, and thank you for noticing.

Today was not a great day foodwise, although I started out well. Had oatmeal for breakfast, and I had a teaspoon of jam instead of the butter I would ordinarily have. Not bad. Then I met one of my AA pigeons for lunch - she'll be sober 15 years in September, and is such a cool person - and we went to a thai restaurant - I had broccoli and tofu, but I ate some rice to cut the sauce, and we had thai iced tea, which has evaporated milk. Came home and had 2 handfuls of almonds, and then finished off my daughters' macaroni for dinner.
Oh, well, when I write it down, it isn't that bad, although I'm not too pleased about the almonds - and the macaroni is just food porn.

We're going to see James Keelaghan tomorrow - he's a Canadian folk singer that we see every few years Lovely tenor, and he writes some of the most beautiful songs. We first saw him at the Ann Arbor Folk Festival, when we were just moved in together, then again when we were just married, then when I was pregnant with Krista, and we took her a few years ago.

Well, I'm going to go to sleep, in the air conditioning. Too bad, cause I actually like real fresh air. My husband and I were talking about growing up without air, and now we are so spoiled.

Well, take care all.

Sue

TERRI, Elephant ears are enormous flat pieces of deep fried bread dough with powdered or cinnamon sugar all over them. Think death-by-grease-starch-sugar-with-a-smile! * I haven’t gotten a chance to look at the pics yet, I’m so sorry. I’ll have to get back to them. This week has been so crazy that even checking in was impossible for a few days. Just hearing you talk about the place sounds so wonderful, though!! *** OH! There’s the BABY post!!! What a sweetheart! What are you going to name her?? Isn’t it wonderful to be able to play with them so young?! I’m looking forward to more pics as she fills out and kicks up her heels!! Do you suppose she’ll roan or spot out?

KAREN, Because of living on the road, I can’t do everything “by the book” myself. I also didn’t get a chance to even open it yet this week. Once we’re back on the truck, Monday most likely, I’ll have time to go back and read more and get closer to the program. I think every step in the right direction is a good one. I also think that giving up dairy will kill me even if giving up bread didn’t.

SIENA, You’re not alone in backsliding a bit. I gained a few back this week while at the fair for several days. I’m not a pop drinker, but I downed an ocean of lemonade as well as several other bad choices. We’ll just get right back with the program and lose another 20, right?? YOU are already on the way!!

LILION, Congrats on the $$ raise & breaking even at the tables! Sounds like a yummy dinner out!! Good luck ‘watering the lawn’ so to speak – hahaha!

ANGELA, don’t forget that 4.5 a month = 54 pounds a year, which is a great stride towards better health… as long as it’s lost, not found, that is. I do hope you’re even more successful in August. It’s great that you’re keeping up with the back exercises even when it’s a challenge. I really admire that!

SUE, It sounds like James Keelaghan is a tradition in your house. That’s cool that you share it with your DD. Yup, I went hogwild on the carbs, and now I’m on the edge of insane to get more. It’s worse when I haven’t been shopping lately and don’t have alternative foods in the house. Plenty of breads & bagels unfortunately. Oh well, tomorrow is another Get-a-grip Day.

I started out well, but slipped up by taking Steph (8yo) for frozen custard after the afternoon at the barn. Dinner was corn on the cob and watermelon... not really diet food. sigh. it was better than the last 4-5 days anyway, and tomorrow I get another shot at getting it right!

Hi Leah and WELCOME! This is a great thread - wonderful ladies, and I can almost keep up. Please feel free to jump in and tell us about your journey, challanges, triumphs and all the fun stuff like hobbies, loved ones, adventures or whatever you feel comfortable with. We're on a variety of programs: WW, low-fat/high-carb, South Beach, Fat Flush, calorie watching.... What works for you?

Well, the chicken is cooking, the laundry is washing, and if the phone rings with a load offer there's going to be a major panic because the truck is no where near packed & I'm not even dressed yet. My two weeks at home went really quickly, as it always does, and now it's back to work on the hateful truck.

At least the scale was kind this morning and I've managed to return to my pre-fair weight, so I don't have to change my clicker. That's a real boost to get me on track and help keep me there as I venture out on the road. I KNOW that I want to be lighter when I come home again... when ever that is.

When I work with my horse, Gabe, I can picture myself on his back. I can almost FEEL it, and I'm SO tired of waiting. Since he's such a big powerful guy, and training work starts at a walk for short periods of time, I intend to be up on him some time this fall. On the other hand, I intend a lot of things (like quitting the truck) that never seem to come about. But where there's a will, there's a way... and THAT is why we're all here!

LILION, how's that I.M. doing?
TERRI, how's that baby doing?
BARB, how's the soap opera @ work going?
SUE, how did the J.K. concert go?

KAREN, ANGELA, RUTH, CELERY, SIENA, JANETfatnomo & everyone else I missed, I'm wishing you all a truckload of NSV's, SV's, and for the grand prise winner even an SUV (or a Cooper Mini for the ecology minded) ...but I digress. You know I mean have a good day, a great week, and I'll see you all when we're a little thinner, our hearts are working a little easier, and we're all a little closer to our goals!

C-YA!
