Default LWL # 261 June 26 - July 2

Good rainy morning!
Endless thunderstorms here, and I can't seems to wake up. Back later after I've had some coffee. Hope you all had a good weekend. We spent our retrieving ds from his camp job due to a raging case of poison ivy. Prednisone is helping, so I'll take him back some time this week.

Legs and cardio today for me and a few clients.

Hello!

here too! But I went out at 6am for my first Half Marathon Training Run! I just google mapped it and it was half the distance I thought I'd done. I will do more next time!

Going off to the gym at lunch for some ab work and light shoulders/back weights. I have a slight ache in my shoulder, so I will lift light this week.

Then it's small children kicking each other tonight. Great fun. Can I go to bed yet???

Eating has been good this weekend I had a half-hearted free day yesterday, just a cookie and a scone. Not bad at all! I probably had more bread than I should've too, 2 sandwiches but never mind, calories were ok

This week marks the start of my new training plan. I've started to write down my workout sessions in a little "stick to it" book. The book cannot be denied! I am going to plan my workouts for the following week every Friday, depending on what other engagements I have that week. I'm hoping I should be seeing some good results soon

Good morning everyone.

I had a pretty good UBWO yesterday and I can feel it this morning. Due to the rain yesterday, I didn't get to go hiking. I guess I needed an UBWO more than I needed hiking

My fiancee (woah such a strange word to me ) surprised me with the ring on friday (we were supposed to get it together on saturday) and proposed. I cried We found the place where we want to get married and today we are going to go reserve the date. It will be in mid November. I only have 5 months to go so I better boogie.

Anyway, a great weekend overall. I ate a bit too much BBQ on Saturday but oh well

NELIE - congratulations, I am so happy for you. Collar bones??? Like the woman losing weight, asked her husband about the lump on her hip, turned out to be a bone. He is still laughing about it.

PAT - Ended up getting tangerine, didn't see your post, but have an appointment for pink girly fingers on Friday. Lots of ginger tea and I hope you survived the day.

The weekend went well, up on the scale, expected but did well on portion control when the choices were fried, but that calamari, was so worthwhile. Back ache today, so I skipped the gym this morning. I did do interval training on Saturday AND Sunday, in the rain, 30 minutes each, used the telephone poles for the splits, and since I was out so early in the am, I didn't miss any of the celebrations.

MEL- Like you when I wake up early I try to do something, though usually in my case it is ironing. Not liking the poison ivy thing, ouch.

DD is dropped off at camp, now DH and I have to figure out what to do with ourselves.

Nelie, congratulations! How totally cool. Lucky guy. Smart guy.

All well here. Am studying for my ACE certification exam and finding it hard sledding at age 63 to get into studying again. Knowledge seems to flow in and out of my head like mercury.

All the rain seemed to want to gravitate to my basement...spent 4 hours last night bailing and trying to fix the leak. At least now I know where it's coming from, and if it every stops the !@#@#@!# rain, and dries out, I can caulk the leak.

Fru, good idea to use the book to keep track. I've read in more than one place that keeping a log for diet and/or exercise really keeps you on track and accountable. Hope it works.

Mel. hope ds recovers from the poison ivy quickly. not a fun situation.

Was hoping to get in a full upper body workout last night, but the flooding halted it before I could get to bis and tris, so will have to fit them in tonight. Darn, I was just increasing to 15# for my biceps and looking forward to the challenge.

Hope everyone has a great monday.

Hi LWL,

Had a good weekend here. The food choices could hacve been better. I love fruit, but i tend to take too much stuff with it.
I went shoppoing with DD, my 2 sisters & 1 niece to get some new clothes for DD. We had big fun and managed to get some good stuff.
Suncday I spent in gardening 7 cleaning house in order to prepare for my holiday. I hate to come back into a dirty and unkept place, which meands i force myself to leave it it good order. I still have a lot to do but i came nearer to my goal.

This evening 1 hour power class. I can really tell that i did not manage to do 3 classes for the last weeks: I am noticably weaker and lift less. Also I have a stiff back. I have to keep up the meditation 7 yoga thing. in fact i plan to load my yoga CDs into the MP3 player. i might be able to get some in during the holiday.

Mel- I hope DS recovers quickly from the poison ivy.

Susan - keep up the good work !!

have a great day all,
rabbit
Today back to work again. luckily it is not so hot anymore.

One day totally on track so far, as far as the exercise goes 3 big black ticks across my workouts

Today is weights and kickboxing. I had a small lie-in this morning till 7am I must hydrate, I was up on the scales for NO REASON this morning! Hello Mr Scale - I worked out 3 times yesterday, what are you doing?

I'm going to try some drop sets on the Lat Pulldown today. I like it lots I'm really seeing muscles in my back now that weren't there before!

OMG!!!!! Drop sets Lat Pulldowns

Although, a good thing, my weight to failure at 8 reps has increased and is now my weight to failure for 12 reps!

Anyone else that their forearms fatigue before their lats on lat pulldowns? My forearms are really sore now, but I can't feel my back muscles. I'll probably be able to feel them tomorrow though!

Frus, the wedding is here in Maryland. I expect some of my family from California will come but not a lot (which is partly a good thing ) I'm very excited now and there is so much to do.

Liza, I love good fried calamari. I actually had calamari this weekend as well or at least a bite of it. We went to a mongolian BBQ and the DF had calamari and shrimp while I had lamb. Wasn't fried but it was still good

Last night, I did a kick butt cardio workout on the elliptical. I thought my legs were going to give out. My upper body is still sore from my workout on Sunday but today is LBWO.

A little less than two weeks ago, I bought a pair of size 22 dress pants (for 9 dollars too) but they didn't fit. The zipper zipped a little bit but I couldn't zip them up all the way, they were noticeably tight and the button didn't button. I am wearing those pants today and they fit perfectly. Oh and recently, I've had to adjust my seat adjustment in my car. I noticed I was too far back so I had to adjust it. I think my butt must be shrinking.

Drum roll please. I got up to the gym this morning even after going out last night and going to bed at 11:30. Of course, I terrorized myself with the scale this morning when I first woke up, that had a lot to do with it.

Unfortunately, didn't choose well at Au Bon Pain for breakfast, they do have hard boiled eggs, and an oatmeal bar, I choose the whole grain bagel. Oh well.

Had a most wonderful meal last night, mussels and some crab cakes. It was late and we didn't want a full meal, it was perfect, even when we went for a walk to get ice cream. smalls. Like that makes a difference. I am supposed to be doing well since my child is at camp and I can focus on me, well the focus is on me and I want it all.

Since I don't think I am getting to the gym tomorrow am, we are running the reservoir, I did an upper and lower body split. I liked it alot and got a lot accomplished I think.

2FRU- The whole talk of lats is freaking me out. Get some more water, probably why the scale is freaky.

Squats are getting better, I get warmed up quicker and quicker because I am really getting more flexible. Now the challange is my gut, it is getting in the way for more and more of the workouts. Goodby bagels. I promise to check out the oatmeal bar next time.

Nelie, congrats on the pending nuptials! Nov should be a great time around here - long after any hurricane danger and just cool enough that you won't risk breaking a sweat in all your finery! So exciting. Have you located a dress yet, or is that on the to-do list? Photos, if you have them please!

I am engaged in my spa week and trying to enjoy it. I tried to get oldest dd into an all week soccer camp last week (9-4) but she bagged it after the first day. Can't get upset, it was truly hot, she is only 6, and all day soccer makes for a long day. Just wondering if I will ever have the ship off to camp experience you all speak of. The trick must be in finding a friend they want to go with. My little one at 4, is a gem. She is just a tag-along and I don't have to keep an eye on her. Not always wanting to run around outside, so she doesn't impact my schedule or plans that much. Posted a sep thread about muscle pain, so check it out if you have a minute. It's about noon here and I'm wondering how long it will be until my muscles will be sending me for that motrin bottle. It's just that dull, tired ache that drags me down. So far so good, but I know it's coming.

HR - Sent DD who is 7 1/2 off to overnight camp, first timers, this week. She is on her own, but is really independant, must be the only child syndrome. Anyway, we dropped her off on Sunday and I have been tracking the weather for her and it isn't too bad. I went to camp on my own too, though a little older, LOVED it. Lots of activities and DD is in one that is water based, so she is swimming, sailing, canoing, kayaking, wind surfing and who knows what else all week long. DH and I went to the movies last night. Fun too.

DH and I loaded up the dog for a walk around the reservoir this morning, great 45 minute walk. Dropped off his van to see about getting the AC fixed, if this place can't do it, he is going to give up.

Interestingly, the top of my arms are sore this morning, not the joint, the top of the muscle, I can feel the muscles under the fat, that is somewhat encouraging and I should keep on making good food choices. At least I split the snack w/ DH last night. Probably should have gone for the 16 oz beer versus the 24??

The word for today is: Sore

I did 144 crunches (holding a 10 lb medicine ball) and 36 reverse crunches for a total of 180 crunches. I really pushed myself overall but most notably: I did the butt blaster with more weight than I ever have. I was seriously panting when I was done. My arms are still sore from my workout on Sunday. Today is cardio and my bag is packed. I'm ready to kick some butt.

Today is a hungry day, as was yesterday and the day before. Plenty of healthy snacks packed so I should be fine.

Man, you are all making me feel like a lazy bum with all your lifting and soreness.

Seems like so much rain is going on across the country, stay dry if you can! One of my business contacts in DC e-mailed me to let me know she might not be able to make it into the office today because of the possibility of severe flooding. Yikes! The weather has been perfectly dry and sunny here for the most part, and HOT. I want to be at the beach today in the worst way, but that’s most days for me then isn’t it?

I had such a lovely weekend at the concerts with my friends. The Greek is really my favorite venue in LA because it’s outdoors and so much smaller than the Hollywood Bowl. I just wish it was closer to where I live!

I loved going to overnight YMCA camp as a kid. The camp was only about 5 miles from my house but there were always so many interesting people from all over the place and the horseback riding and canoeing and such fun stuff that it really felt like getting away for a bit.

Nelie- Just 5 months to plan a wedding?! Good luck and keep us posted.

I have been slacking on all fronts I’m ashamed to say. I get plenty of walking in, but I was so zapped from my full weekend, had to work Tues night and will have another work event to attend tomorrow evening. I haven’t exactly been practicing restraint when it comes to putting food in my mouth either. I’m feeling in a bit of a rut here. I’ve been finding it very easy to maintain the weight I’m at with relatively little gym time and a pretty flexible diet. I guess it’s good that I’m maintaining easily and not gaining, but I should really be working towards maintaining a weight at least 30 lbs lighter than this. I feel a little too complacent. Not good. Tonight will be a repeat of last Wed: long dog walk, UBWO, 1 hr H2O aerobics, 1000 yard swim. They’ve just added H2O aerobics to the schedule for Friday night as well, so perhaps I’ll do another strength session and class then as well.

I just got a CD from my sisters full of pictures from out Costa Rica trip, so I thought I’d share this photo of me.

This was definitely one of those vacation highlights you’ll never forget. There’s monkeys in them there trees too!
