Default Buddy for me?

I am 285 pounds right now. I want and need to lose weight. For my self esteem as well as overall health. I have alot of heart disease in my family and don't want to end up sick at an early age becasue of my food obsession and weight. I am an emotional eater. And grew up in an atmosphere where food was used for happiness and sadness. I ultimatly wish I could find a women in my area to go walking with but I realize that's near impossible. So at the very least I am looking for someone to offer my support and who is in the same boat as me so we can motivate each other. I have a 14 year old and a 1 month old.

You've made a good start just coming here and posting. There is a lot of support here. Start reading through all the threads and groups and you'll find lots of inspiration and tips on how to get going and keep going. You may not think you're ready to read Success Stories, but please do. The inspiration there is great.

Just remember, start slowly! Don't try to jump in with both feet and change everything all at once. That was my mistake all my life with trying to lose weight. When I finally stepped back, and started small, things started to move in the right direction!

You can do this!

hey there! you have taken the first and sometimes most difficult step. I was you in 2003. I walked into a WW meeting weighing 283 lbs. I got down to 174 on WW but then my carb and sugar addictions began to de-rail me. I went back up to 210. I started on South Beach on 4/24/06 and lost 5 lbs the first week, so maybe this is now the plan for me. At any rate, I wish you the most success and luck. Oh yes, I also am 46 and have a nearly 6 yr old.
