Default What else is there besider BFL...

Hi Ladies and Gents,

I have read the Body for Life book and I am considering it. I know that this forum was originally started because of it but has since expanded to include other programs. So I wanted to know more about these other programs, any books I should read, etc. Thanks for the info.

What else are you looking for? Are you looking for books on nutrition or fitness or specific action plans? If you could be a little more specific, we could probably be more helpful.

Default Action plans

I am assuming I am looking action plans is what you would call what I am looking for, basically something that has a routine layed out and nutrition outline or tips on nutrition. For example, Phillips outlines a nice workout regime and nutrition all in one but I don't know of any other books that do exactly the same. So I was looking to see what else was out there and compare and find make a decision on which to do based on what fits best for me.

I like Stength Training for Women by Lori Incledon, though it doesn't have much nutrition. Also Weight Training for Dummies is quite good. Both of these have suggested routines, along with illusrations/photos of exercises and information about how/when to shake things up. And have you looked at Body for Life for Women? I haven't looked at it for awhile, but I think it has nutrition along with the exercises. I work at a library so I look at all these books, but the first two above I've purchased for myself.

Winning by Losing by Jillian Michaels is a great book. Great exercise plan, diet plan, and chapters on motivation. I combined a modified BFL diet with her workouts and am very pleased with the results.

8 Minutes in the Morning by Jorge Cruise has good nutritional recommendations and a system for tracking. I did it last summer and had really good results while feeling satiated and hydrated. I added cardio in to his standard exercises.

This must be the thread Susan was talking about .... book recommendations.

Ok.. so I think I will check out Body for Life for Women and The Body Sculpting Bible for Women at the bookstore.

Then maybe later Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle. Without pics I'd be lost now.

Today.. I'm making it my goal today. To buy one or the other and get started. I'm tired of hodge podging the strength training.

Jayde - if you like pictures, this is a great book: Teach Yourself Visually Weight Training It's not a program but is a good basic visual guide to the do's and don'ts of weight training.

Jayde - you beat me to it. This was the thread. And as Ilene mentioned somewhere, this months Oxygen has an article just on squats (bought it this morning). Plus, Cooking Light always has a fitness section in which there are a number of exercises demonstrated. Some months are better than others, but I love the magazine overall, so I subscribe.
