My butt thank you, Jennifer!

You can do that first one weighted, using a lightly weighted smith machine bar or the moving end of a lying leg curl machine. Just kneel in front of whichever machine and push up and back using the working leg. Hurts so good the next day!

We have a machine, aptly named The Butt Blaster (in big red letters on the side ), that does the first exercise. It's a killer!

I'd add hack squats to the list, if your gym has one, and squats.

You can also weight the first one at home, without a machine. Just balance a dumbell in the angle of your knee and then lift it up. Makes it so much harder and probably more effective.

I did the "Butt Blaster" machine at my gym one day... I really hate that machine but it does good. I plan to do it probably every other week.

We have a machine that does the first one, too. It's just labeled "glutes." No fancy names at our gym. LOL You can also do it at home with ankle weights.

My dh said his glutes were sore yesterday, and the only thing he could figure out is that he push-mowed our yard. There are some hills and stuff, and the mower isn't self propelled, so I suppose that could be it.

Uphill will do it. I have my treadmill set on an incline for the same effect.

More butt news - Oxygen Magazine has a Special Collector's Issue called "Glutes - Training for Women" that I bought at Barnes and Noble. Articles include:

No weights required - from Flat to Fab in 4 steps.

Cover Girl's advice for rock hard buns..

Build your Best Butt Ever - 10 Surefire Moves to sculpt your rear end

plus more... and a glutes workout poster.

Yep, I'm on a butt kick right now!

I don't have a hack squat machine. I probably will at the new gym. It's going to be 75,000 square feet! For some reason, the sound of that machine just doesn't leave me feeling warm and fuzzy.
