Hi all, I started the thread!! I cheated by 7 minutes, but I started the thread!!!

Yipee!!! I finally got my modem at home working so I can post here. I'm at at a new company so I don't want to be all over the net there but I can do what I wanna do at home!

Meg, I'm not sure what happened to you cause I only read the posts for last week, the thread about the bodyfat - ideal weight that the HR chick started and the how many carbs for weight lifting thread. However, I hope whatever ails you is getting better so you can get back to slinging iron.

Rabbit - I agree that you shouldn't force your kids to do something they aren't ready to do. Forcing things like that will actually backfire on everyone involved - you, the ex and his new friend. Let them move at their own pace. If he loves them like he says he does, he'll understand thats for the best.

Ilene, my queen. I love the glitter signature. You are truly the DIVA of this site. Thanks for the muscle vs fat picture. I showed it to my two new workout buddies but they didn't get it. It didn't help that when we all had our fitness assesments done, the stupid trainer told us that we don't need to add any additional muscle or lift weights. We should only do "resistance training", cardio and oh yeah, pay a gazillion bucks for a nutritionist to give us a high carb, low protein, fat free diet. Now I'm lifting all alone but its okay. I told him he was nuts and I was gonna sling iron from here to eternity and was gonna look GOOD doing it. He laughed.

Fru - so you are teaching kickboxing? That is too cool. I hope you are finding it to be very fulfilling. And keep those kids in line!!! DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE! That's what kids need today! I also hope you get back into the grind and get that 10# up like you said you were going to. People on this site are cheering for you.

Teapot - I also have bad weight lifting days. I end up talking to myself all the way home reassuring myself that it was just one day and one day does not outdo all the days that I get in the gym and get dirty with it.

Other than the new job, I've also joined a new gym. I still have my Bally's account for days I need to workout quick without the crew. I joined Lifetime Fitness as well because I can take the crew with me there and they can shoot basketball, rock climb, swim or fiddle around on the exercise equipment. I took AD (my son) upstairs with me and showed him which machines he is allowed to use, how they work and what his maximum amount of weight on each of the machines is. AY (the girl isn't a teen yet) is only allowed to ride the exercise bikes. But its nice having a place we can all go and either do things together or they can play with their friends while I work out instead of them just sitting at home. Its also nice to not have as many 4AM workouts The only two drawbacks to this place is there is no indoor track and the trainers, classes, etc. are all geared toward women lifting pink dumbells. I swear, since I've been there, I've never seen another woman in the free weight area. Oh well. I am desegregating it!

Peace.

Tiki.

Hello Tiki! Hello Ilene, and Mel and rabbit and everyone!

I am taking this week off... After I'd decided I felt a lot happier with myself. I spent all day asleep in bed yesterday after two exhausting days pushing myself to keep going - shopping! I took Friday off work to rest, but ended up shopping and walking round for 6 hours!! I tried to lie in, but couldn't get back to sleep and was getting bored. Then I had my private kickboxing lesson on Saturday morning, which was good, but I felt like I really had to try, and I can hardly remember anything he said to work on Then we went to see about wedding things and then I was taken shopping

My immune system has also taken a holiday, I've got plenty of fruit to keep it healthy though.

Wish me luck in my week off - and be ready to send me a straight jacket if I even THINK about lifting, even a PINK dumbbell

Tiki! I was missing you last week and here you are!! This place is just no fun without you. You are SO right - Ilene is our diva! Now all we need is a diva smilie ...

As for me, I tore my rotator cuff last summer and had surgery to repair it in January. It's a long, slow (and painful) recovery, so I whine about it a lot.

Frus - good luck with your week off and you better believe that we'll all come and kick your butt if you even go near a gym. How about a nice manicure and pedicure to match the pink gloves?

Tiki!!! Welcome Home !!! It is so great to see you again

Just to bring you up to speed, I was finally diagnosed with MS at the beginning of the month. It was a hard thing to hear, but good to finally have a diagnosis. I am slowl getting used to the medication and am beginning to get some strength back. It is the fatigue that gets me more than anything.

I have slowly started back to exercising. I am currently doing yoga 2x a week, Pilates 1x a week and trying to use the treadmill 2-3 times a week. If I can continue to do this, and increase my treadmill time and intensity back to 4.5 mph and 45-50 min at a time, then I will start weight training again. Right now I figure the yoga is doing good for the muscles and they can wait another 4-6 weeks. Oh, and I agreed to be an assistant coach with my running group - I will work with walkers going towards a half marathon in the fall. Maybe next year I can run a half or full marathon. Time will tell.

Meanwhile, it is good to have you back. Hi to all my other LWL. I already feel that this week will be better than last week!

Hey everybody, ok if I post here? I think it's an update thread for all, right? Well, I just wanted to joyous shout that I got in 2.5 hrs of working out over the weekend - yea me! I did 45 minutes of treadmill walking both days, and 45 minutes of weights and abs on Sunday. Can't wait to get another 45 on the treadmill today. The lightbulb has switched on -- I'm enjoying exercise and looking forward to my next workout the way I used to look forward to my next pigout. YEA YEA YEA

Hi,

I hope it's okay if I post here too. You all were so helpful to me in my overtraining post. I'm with 2frustrated - no weights for me this week. I'll do some cardio, but if I so much as look at a dumb bell, I'll kick my own butt!

I figure I'm my own science experiment right now. I've weighed and measured and will see how a week without lifting affects my fluffy self. I would really, really like to lose 30 - 40 more pounds, but I guess they will come off when they come off. I'm down 86 pounds and anxious for more!

Hi LWL,

TIKI!!! Great to hear from you!! I have been thinking a lot about you and your crew... So great that you can go to the gym together!!

Hi all the other LWL! Chickadee, hrbabe- welcome!

It's kind of quiet in here today...DS and DD stay an extra day with DH since thery have school holidays and may not visit him for a while due to his stubbornness in the new friend issue. I told them he could visit them if they wanted, so they still can see him. Today I went to work for a whole day, soI'll have more time with them to spend the rest of the week. Tomorrow we are going to visit my sister in the big city...they have trams and shops and even an underground there!!!Very thrillin if you live in a village with 3 busses to town around 8 in the morning, and 3 busus back fro town between 4 and 6 in the afternoon! And of course we will be shopping, and go to the market. I'm looking forward to it!.

Have a great day all,
rabbit

Tiki! Welcome back I was just thinking about you also. You save me a PM! I'm so glad to hear that the new gym and job are working.

Fran and Chickadee, of COURSE you are welcome to join us here! Please do. This thread has gotten a little quiet in the last few weeks. It's nice to see some new (and old) faces in here! Let's all try to get back into the posting habit. I need to do it too.

I did cardio and chest this morning, a few clients, home for lunch, then back to the gym. Ds's bonded front teeth fell apart this morning (and NO dental insurance ) so early morning was chaos. He looks like a vampire, and will stay that way until tomorrow. Doesn't seem to bother him, he's more worried about whether or not they'll give him any shots tomorrow.

OK, FOOD TIME!

Hullo, everyone! And you too, Tiki! Very nice to see you again. Keep lifting and posting!

I'm back from a week or so away. No weights. Back to the gymn this morning and I did well! I'm here to tell you that it works!! Take a week off and improve your performance!!! It costs almost nothing and improves your body!!!!

Two non-scale victories from last week.

I was queuing for the security check at the airport and dropped the bag FULL of food. Apples everywhere. Sandwiches. You name it. Other people collected up most of it (this was John Lennon Airport, Liverpool after all - one of the friendliest in the known universe) and ... I limboed under the barriers to collect the rest. No problem. New career: limbo dancer.

And, thank goodness, I can now perform one of the most useful heavy-duty lifts again. It's the 'move the sleeping child from the middle of the double bed deadlift'. As the Boy has got bigger I've found it impossible to manoeuvre and lift at the same time without 'doing my back in' (as we say in the UK). But last week I found I could do it. Progress. And Great Pride!

Food is still badly out of kilter. Can't carry on like this. The trousers are feeling a bit tight.

More tomorrow. Be kind to yourself.

Love, Silverbirch.

LWL! I'm am back from what seems like a week away, but was only 5 days! I spent last Wed evening dealing with a sick cat and pet emergency, then left at o'dark-thirty Thursday for a library conference. Back this evening. It was good, but I'm exhausted, especially mentally but also from lack of movement. I'm out of practice in sitting in a learning mode for 90-120 minutes at a stretch! Plus I was part of the instruction for 3 sessions so that added to the stress. And with that, I'm off for a little TV and bed - and oh, comforting cats who've been with strangers for 5 days as DH is still in California! Tomorrow back to life's routine - and glad to be there!

Good to see you Tiki. Hope your rest week is going well Frus. Glad to catch up with the rest of you!!

Atchoo!

I've got a bunged up nose and I'm off work. Seems my immune system has really gone on holiday too. Never mind, at least I will get extra rest today if the neighbours turn their music down!

Just packing for my weekend at my old school. There will be plenty of clubbing at the weekend too! Hooray! So I'm playing with clothes and looking at how sexy I can look after a week's rest and a carb-fest. OOoops! Trying to eat clean for the rest of the week... started with a clementine this morning, after biscuits for breakfast! Don't worry, I've got a Dr Phil no-fail environment now... since I ate most of it and sent DF to work with the rest
