Dirtbikes, video games, crafts, reading. Or there are plenty of places to volunteer, especially if you like animals and/or elderly.

I took up NIA last year- I know you said no exercizing, but it's a mix of free dance, tai chi and yoga. I'm also a musician so I play with random groups here and there. I'm also an avid concert goer.

And I would LOVE to learn how to crochet/knit.

I spend my free time at the moment learning Dutch. I'm progressing slowly though because I never have enough free time.

Default Hobbies

Fife & drum (music), quilting, web-design, iaido. My b/f and I are going to try out the climbing gym in 2 weeks too, to see if that's something we can do together that involves some fitness. I think that's a very important part to this process too... as much as we all like sedentary activities (quilting, crochet, computers) we need to incorporate some new activities & hobbies that involve some healthy physical aspect.

The climbing gym & bowling are activities that can be done year round - that's something I've always had a hard time finding - something we could do as a couple to stay active that wasn't dependent on good weather. And even if he wasn't game for going, I've got plenty of friends who would be interested in trying something like that out. And I've never been averse to going alone, either.

OK. These are kind of exercise-related, but I have tons of fun doing them, and I've met a lot of new people who are now friends: softball and volleyball. I play in a league for each. We have games one night/week.

I also love watching baseball (spring training starts SOON), trying out photography, cooking (all healthy food, of course) and reading magazines.

I love reading, journalling, foreign languages, writing letters, going for looooooooooooooooooong walks, hiking, being in nature, sightseeing, travel and going to new places overall. Used to collect stamps to see what sort of ideas and designs different countries come up with.
I figure skate, but for myself and for the fun of it, not for the exercise. And I'm a great figure skating fan and follow the sport closely. I'm also trying to learn tennis, also for the fun of it not for the exercise, and I want to try archery. And I also love coming up with surprises for my boyfriend and getting and giving gifts overall.

Other things I'd like to do, but don't have the opportunity to try right now, would be a photography course so that I can learn to take really great photos, and pottery making and decorating. Maybe also horseback riding. And to learn a couple more languages.

Travelling is awesome if you can do it- so much to distract you and walking everywhere makes it much more interesting.

I do swing dancing, but any sort of social dancing can be really fun: you meet lots of new people, learn a practical skill (think about the next time you go to a wedding...), and get a fun workout in the process! I can say with great assurance that the swing dance community is normally very welcoming of newbies, and that it's very web accessible, if you want to look up something in your area (<www.minnesotalindy.com/forum/links.php?c=4> has a great list of links for dancing all over the country).

I like a lot of things already mentioned here... reading, knitting, hiking, photography, baking/cooking... I love going into kitchen/cook's stores like Williams & Sonoma and constructing a dream kitchen. They have such neat gadgets in those places! I also enjoy reading in Italian... It's challenging to say the least with what level of knowledge I have, but it's a good hobby. I used to be big into jewlery making, but then I realized everything I made looked the same...

I recently started doing a scrapbook for me and my boyfriend...for everything that we do this year, as we have lots of plans. I'm doing it monthly...and it gives me something to do! I like it. For the most part, my free time is taken up by my homework (I'm a law student), and being online, and of course.....exercising.
