Default LWL 242 Feb 13 - Feb 19

Happy Day before Valentine's Day

We are here digging out from a huge snowstorm and trying to figure out if school is on a two hour delay or closed- either way I have to go to work. Ugh.

This weekend I got my "new to me" treadmill up and me running on it and dh gave me an early Valentine's present of a small flat screen TV! What a treat!

Stay out of the chocolate,

Mel

Hi LWL,

Mel - congrats on the treadmill, it sounds just great!

I had a good weekend, lots of rest & recreation.. and I took the kids to the theatre. It was fun. Also I did the yoga meditation CD yesterday. Tonight, a power lesson again. I'm still stuggling to get the excercise in its right place, but with 2 committments at the gym per week I'll see how i work out this week.

Have a great day,
rabbit

Morning all!

Feeling - just woke up!! I fell asleep in the car on the way back from an assessment. I'm a naughty frus!

I've got me some Pepsi Max so I'll be sorted soon. Lots of kickboxing today, I'm cutting running and weights out this week, just for a break and so I can practise more kickboxing, and also it would've been a bit hard to fit my running in today and I'm always tired for it on Wednesdays so I figured I will just concentrate on my kickboxing this week - I might be able to do my belt in a week

Treadmill sounds good, Mel!

So does your weekend, rabbit!

I had an NSV at the weekend. I moved and stacked one large pick-up load of wood twice (once to get it out of the track, and once to stack it beside the house in the wood shelter). I think that my wrists are stronger. I seemed to grip better. This is good news.

Food still pretty dodgy. Gymn good this morning and so was that wood weights/n/cardio at the weekend. It's not exercise that's the problem. Someone else has said that here .... Or more than one person ....

Have a good day, all.

A new week ... hmmm. I'm a bit messed around. I just finished my 3rd of 4 weekends in a row (one more to go starting Thurs). Four or five shifts over the weekend, ya know. Everybody does the TGIF thing and was grouchy this morning because it was Monday. I feel like I live in the twilight zone.
I also feel like I need an abrupt halt, regather and restart. I just feel messed up!
I'm going to clean up my kitchen, get fabulous food out for supper and go have a nap. Then when I get up, I'm going to pretend it's a new day and go good.
Did you all read Ilene's post called are you lifting heavy enough? I think between that and my uber-supper ... I'll be off to the races!

Great excitement at the gym this morning. I was about to start training a client (who is a critical care nurse, thank heavens), when she started shouting at me from the end of the hallway to bring the cpr mask and call 911. One of the regulars, young and fit, was face down and unconscious. She turned him, and he was blue with no pulse. She started cpr and I got the ambulance, but he was conscious and trying to fend us and the paramedics off by the time they got there. We had a hard time convincing him that he didn't "just faint". Blue and NO PULSE is not a simple exertion faint. Glad I don't start the day that way very often. Also glad my client had more training than I did!

Cardio for me. I think I'm not lifting, except legs this week. My tendonitis is just getting worse and worse.

Yikes, Mel! Excitement indeed.

I did cardio over the weekend, where at least I had the Olympics to watch. Tonight will be and cardio. Undecided whether to do the bodypump class - it's later on Mondays and I'd be getting home later than I like, esp as DH is leaving again on Wed. Feels like he just got home. Oh, wait, he did just get home! No chocolate here - we don't even do cards for valentines.

Feeling sorry for those of you who are digging out. We've just had 3-4 days of 40+ degree weather, with rain. It was very scary walking and even worse driving off the main highways. Our driveway and street are still very slick, as is the parking lot at work. At least however the temperatures are more seasonal - below freezing - and the sun is out.

Hi LWL,

Mel -how scary! Young & fit??? Sometimes I'm glad to be older and not so fit.
Today came with a big surprise ...Valentine chocolates made by my daughter & son yesterday evening when I was in the power class. I came hoe & found the house vaguely smelling of chocolate...and today I got a box decorated with a note "for the sweetest", and filled with chocolates! DD melted down some chocolate easter eggs & mixed in walnuts. I must be the luckiest mom around!

Have a great day all,
rabbit

I had a shot at arms last night, keeping in mind that post of Ilene's about 'heaviness'. I worried a bit about the strain on my elbows and shoulder joints (which probably helped with focus) but they're fine this morning. The muscles feel nicely tired.

One oddity tho' is that I could actually do more reps (the heavy ones) for tri's than I could for bi's. Is that odd?

Editted to ask .... did anyone watch Tai Babalonia (sp?) waving to the audience on Skating with the Stars last night? Arm flaps!

Rabbit - that's the best V-day present ever

Susan, well done on upping the intensity

I'm just trying to keep body and soul together this week! Feeling quite tired so have cut out running and weights for a little bit of a rest! I will be having a "do nothing" weekend next weekend. Hooray!

Ended up napping for 45 minutes on the couch last night, and then - of course - could not get to sleep later. Was awake til after 2 am, which doesn't bode well for today! My job is fairly sedentary, so I must make an effort to get up and walk around more today. Then the gym and home to clean house. I need to stay awake until my normal bedtime (10 pm) and hopefully things will be okay.

Had a dreadful panic this morning. DH is leaving tomorrow night, and we went to get him seats on the plane and learned that the itinerary we had from Expedia was never paid for! :eek Of course to replace it now would cost double. So I'm scurrying around looking for a mileage ticket for at least part of the trip when we get an email from Orbitz - whoops. Looks like I had researched both and then bought through Orbitz, but somehow we'd saved the printed Expedia one. Gads, is old age really setting in?? This was the scariest thing that's happened with my memory for awhile. Granted I bought the ticket in October, but still..... Fortunately all's well that ends well and he's got a ticket that matches the dates he's supposed to be places. But my brain is still reeling. Plus I'm now feeling the effects of the wearing-off-adreneline. And I'm off to a 2 hour meeting.....

Is there some trick to keeping your toes from slipping off the step when you're doing calf raises? Or does it really matter if I have to reset my feet after 6 or 7 reps?

Hi LWL,

Pat - what a scare! Glad things ended well. Did your husband leave yet?

I had a good start of the day today. It began with my son hunting around for his school agenda, finding it and discovering that he needed to hand in a project for english today. So he devised the plan that he would do the project & be in time for school if I could bring him, so I stood in the pouring rain to fix up his bike to the car for the trip back, then brought DS to school, DD to school & went to the gym. I did 20 mins bike and a power lesson, and now I'm ready to start my day.

I'm really proud of my son that he kept his wits about him and solved his problem. And I'm also quite sure that next time, he will remember to check on the day before if he needs to hand in something. I proposed that he enters projects to be delivered on his week planning, and obviously the idea was quite new to him that he could do that.

I'm off to start the rest of my day
Have a great day all,
rabbit

Rabbit -- I love it when my kids learn valuable lessons in that manner, they don't panic (I usually do though ) pull through and ace the project. We are so lucky. That was so sweet of your kids to make those chocolates for you...

Pat -- Wow that was a scare, can we learn a lesson from Rabbit's son? Checking BEFORE the last minute .... Glad to hear that I'm not the only one that doesn't celebrate with cards and chocolate... We had kids in the house all evening so no hanky panky either ...

Silver -- Way to go on the NSV!!

Mel -- Oh boy, that sure scares me when I hear of things like that of the "young and fit" ...

Susan -- my triceps are much stronger that my biceps.... It is normal

It's been a good week all around, food good, exercise good too... so on that note I'm off to the gym for some back and bis...TTFN
