Low-carbing can be quite involved and the plans can vary drastically. Some say keep it under 50 carbs, some say keep it around 25 carbs, there are protein and fat percentages to aim for, caffeine is a no-no on some but not on others, etc etc etc. I don't have the time nor the inclination to learn or follow all that.
I shoot for simplicity: as few carbs as possible per day, no more than 20, very rarely higher than 10. I keep it clean, too - lean meats, poultry, green veggies, eggs and salads. No low-carb energy bars or shakes. I do have one cup of coffee in the morning but water is my drink for the rest of the day. I also take a multi-vitamin every day.
Losing 100 pounds was surprisingly easy. I'd been heavy most of my life and was quite angry to find that sticking to a simple diet/exercising plan actually worked.

I spent the better part of my 32 years being obese because of my own laziness.
Yeah, I'm pretty hard on myself, too.
