Default glutamine - yes or no?

I am dieting and exercising , taking my multivitmain but I am also lifting, should I take glutamine or not? I guess my real question is does it get absorbed and does it actually work? I would like to take it if it helps in also stopping my muscles from feeding on themselves since occassionaly i cut my calories lower than usual.

Glutamine is wonderful for helping to rid your body of lactic acid. When you are lifting seriously, you create a lot of lactic acid. That is the 'burn' your muscles feel. In a few days after doing a new exercise (particularly if you over do it) you can really ache. Glutamine makes that healing work faster and it is great for that.

Glutamine is an amino acid. Amino acids make up protien. Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in your body. And it does help with healing from a workout.

I've never heard of glutamine preventing your muscles from "feeding on themselves." Most people who really want to lift and build muscle eat quite well. They eat more than they need and they allow the fat to accumulate while building the muscle. When they are ready to stop building muscle and start trying to cut the fat, they do that by reducing carbohydrates while still eating adequate protein.

Hope that helps some.
