Where the heck is everybody! Don't be shy! Just go ahead and start the daily chat if you are first in here.
Well, my doggie alarm clock did not go off until 7:15 this morning! Oy! It wouldn't have mattered except I had to be somewhere (20 minutes away) by 8 AM to pick up stuff for the Fair District Meeting. It was quick breakfast and potty for the Girls and I took off with my coffee. It is just a lovely morning. It has been so dark and wet I'd forgotten how beautiful October is when she's all gold and blue! I am so lucky to live here.
Right now, I'm baking a cake for tomorrow's FAir aGM, simmering meatballs for the District Meeting lunch today, and printing the Church bulletins! It's the ultimate in multi-tasking.
What's happening sur ta plage? That's French for on your beach.
Wow, it is quiet.............Saturday morning sleepin' in!!! I wish! At work right now, been busy for so eary in the AM. Been away from the forum but not the beach. Yesterday was big tempation all over the place, but I resisted and kept eating SF jello................grrrr. Today the treats and candy are still around but I'm feeling in control.
Ruth you sound ultimately busy, take time for yourself!
Hi, Ruth! Everyone must be sleeping in this morning. I see you're busy as a bee as usual. Good luck with everything.
I've been up for a while. I ate pizza for b'fast, OP pizza but still pizza. I took an hour long soak in the tub and now am getting ready to clean house, do laundry, run some errands, then head to the lab to catch up on some work. I've got a busy day ahead of me.
I'm not sure what to make for dinner tongiht. I found a dish called Chicken Tagine. I may try that later on tonight. It's a morrocan stew w/ lentils, vegetables, chicken, orange peel and cinnamon. Sounds interesting.
It seems like forever since I last posted. Life has been so freakng busy I feel like I don't even have time to pee! The girls are good- just can't seem to keep them healthy!
I haven't been OP on any plan, but continue to maintain. I figure I can't complain too much on that. I need to get refocused on my eating and get a plan in place!
Hope that everyone is doing well- I am going to read some posts to get caught up.
Its to raw and damp,is it really time to get out of bed ,Just one more snooze.
Hi Chicks Had a hard time going into the thread to post. My computer must be screwing up again. It had some to do with cookies Ithought they were some goody snack Well Now I here.
I weighed- in today and its a maintain,so no change, will work harder next week.Who am I fooling with Halloween around the corner.
Gee!! this is quiet day, even with your wake up call Ruth,You should have a way to round up the chicks and get them in the hen house.
Ruth-Your amazing with your cooking & baking at that time of the morning.Your a very busy lady and I agree with RNMOM you should take time out for yourself.
RMMOM-Wondered where you were. Hope I have the control in my neck of the woods when its time to hand out the treats. I broke down and bought 24 Frito-Lays classic snacks instead of only pencils. I figure if I don't use all of them I can crush them and than put them on top of my casseroles.Don't want the kids to egg my house.
Pearshape-Your dinner does sound interesting. I cooking up BBQ steak with a baked potato, and some veggies. BORING!!
Good Afternoon!
Doing okay today. Had a halloween party last night for the kids at the church. I knew I would eat some nachos and taca dip so I planned my food around that. Not OP but still good in my book. Today is OP so far.
Just home form the fasrmers market. it is a sunny crisp fall day. After i fed the troops I will transplant some periwinkle and then writye our church newsletter, print it and then clean the damned house.
Wow, Ruth, I love your new quote in your sig! Great point! I hate rushed mornings, but I hate missed sleep too. Sleep usually wins in my house. I can't believe you are multitasking AND speaking two languages! Mon Dieu! Actually, knowing you, Ruth, yes I can! Have a great day, darling and enjoy the beautiful weather!
RNMom, I'm sorry you have to work today! I usually got my blood drawn on Saturdays if I had to go to our local hospital to do it. I was usually the last one there and I don't think they were happy to see me when they were ready to leave for the day! Do you get to leave early today? I hope so! Good for you with the SF Jello! That's awesome, girl!!!
Pearshape, I think I've had that Chicken Tangine before and it was delicious! Hope you like it! Sounds like a super busy day...hope you get a chance to stop and smell the roses for at least a second or two!
Beautiful Kiko!!! So excited to see you!!! I'm so sorry your girls haven't been well...it sounds like everyone's kids have caught something recently. I know around here it's probably everyone closeted in their classrooms with the forced air on...recirculating all those germs! I hope they feel much better soon and that you get a moment to pee at least! Don't stress about your weight, hon...just try to eat as healthy as you can for now...and know that maintaining in spite of all that stress and rush is a HUGE accomplishment!!!
Hi, BB! Glad to see you...sorry you're having trouble with your cookies! A friend of mine is having that problem right now and hasn't been able to get into another board. She might have to take her computer in to the shop! That was a baked sweet potato, right? I think it helps so much to have interesting dinners...it makes this plan so much more fun. Maybe when you have time you can make a couple of things and then freeze portions for those nights when you're busy? Homemade TV dinners!
Hollyhock, it's all about the planned indulgence...and especially about hopping back on the wagon afterwards. GOOD for you on mastering that!!! Wow, we have a lot of church bulletin writers...good for you!
Me:
Well, I'm sitting here with a mask on my face that's cracking...I need to go wash the darn thing off but wanted to finish this post first. I'm trying Proactiv for my acne and my stuff came with this mask. Let's hope it helps...I've been pretty pleased with my skin so far, then yesterday I developed two huge zits... you know the kind...but thankfully both were fairly hidden so it didn't ruin my date with DH.
We went out to a local town and ate at a wonderful, modern Italian restaurant. Then we went to the little local movie theatre (in a remodeled opera house) and saw The Legend of Zorro. DH says he liked the first one more, but I thought this was hilarious and wonderful!!! It's rated PG, but some of the violence was way too much for me and I had to hide in DH's shirt and ask him to tell me when it was over. I'm such a baby when it comes to that stuff!
Today is lots of cleaning and making an OP Pumpkin cheesecake with nut crust and zucchini bread with the leftover zucchini I have from our garden. It's huge and I want to use it all up!
Have a great OP day, chickies! Tonight we're going to a murder mystery dinner that's being hosted by a club in town...we'll meet three new couples and I'll be dressed as the old Italian widow of an Italian 'restaurant owner' (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). Should be fun.
I'm here too, just been busy. I'm trying to get my new (to me) cats used to me. Trying to get to know them. They've been soooo good. Talked a mile a minute all the way home yesterday, took them down to where the litter box and food are, let them out of the carriers and they both disappeared. I figured they would do that, so we just went back up.
After supper I went down again and the male was on the bed, and I just sat there for a bit, finally called him to me, and he did come. He's a love, head butting me and stroking as cats do. The female, such a scared baby, appeared from under the bed which really surprised me. She wanted so badly to come to me too, but no dice. She doesn't trust anyone yet.
I'm sure they were up during the night, but.....they were quiet, so that in itself was good. After breakfast this morning I went down again, and called, the male came right out, and just showered me with love. He's much more trusting than she is. She did come out, but again, can't come anywhere near me. I sure hope that will come. He's been up, but won't stay up, quickly runs back down. I think they've been without an owner for so long, and been shoved from pillar to post, they don't know if they can trust anyone or not.
Beautiful day here, gold and blue like Ruth said. Pretty, but our leaves are now beginning to fall. The color has been really good, surprisingly for the dry summer we had. I thought it wouldn't amount to much, but it's been pretty. I should have taken my camera along yesterday, could have had some nice shots.
Supper tonight will be the taco bake. We both really liked that. I give my DH a couple of tortillas with his, and I just eat the taco bake. Tomorrow, I'm making a recipe I found in our local newspaper. I'm going to make it SB friendly using f/f soup, and low fat cheese instead of reg. soup and reg. cheese. I think it sounds good. It's also got chicken and broccoli, and I'll load the broccoli on. I'll be able to put it into the oven when we get home from church and Sunday School, and have dinner on the table in nothing flat.
Good Afternoon...I just got up...had to work over night at the Old Navy to set up the new holiday decorations. It was fun...we have HUGE red ribbons everywhere....they are beautiful!!!
I have to clean my VERY messy apartment and redo my nails....I killed them last night!
Laurie - you're so cute....your dates sound so romantic & fun!
Ruth - You are amazing....multi-taskings & 2 languages & caring for the furbabies!!
BB- Hello hun!!
RNmom - you're a strong woman..s/f jello woundn't be enough for me
Holly - great job planning wiht your foods
Kiko - hello, hope the little ones feel better soon.
I'm off to clean!!
Went out and got some new walking shoes (Rockhead the Dog ate one of my semi-new ones that I had). These are very interesting shoes. Kinda funky. They're called RocketDogs and they look a little like the old "Earthshoes" that we wore back in the '70's. Instead of lacing they close with a velcro flap, which is nice. Dh and I walked around the mall (1 mile), picked out some paint chips to bring home and stare at to decide if we like them enough to slap the color on the walls. And got gas for the car. Whoo-hoo, exciting morning. Now, he's watching the Georgia-Florida game.
Don't think I'll bother making anything for dinner tonight. We had some nekkid chicken tenders and red beans and rice at Popeyes for lunch. I'm REALLY starting to miss my veggies. I think I'll make a pot of stew tomorrow. My tummy did really well on that last time.
Kiko, welcome back! You were missed!
Granny, glad you got your new furbabies home safe and sound. I'm sure your little girl will come out of hiding soon. She'll figure out that she's there to stay. The little boy is going to help that along, too, by being so trusting.
Gotta get some writing done, so I won't stay. Hello to everyone else!!
I've been up since six but this is my first chance to post. I had fun at the RCIA/RCIC (church) potluck last night. I made my ww pasta dish with just ham and asparagus and ate mostly that but sampled a few bites of some tempting things that I wanted to try. Overall not too bad.
I made it to Powerflex class this morning. Yeah!! I am going to be so sore tomorrow. Oh, well, it is a good feeling. And it makes me feel like I really want to get back to the gym on a regular basis. I tried donating blood afterwards and they just couldn't find a vein. Three different people tried both arms and ended up giving up. Maybe I hadn't been drinking enough and maybe I had sweated too much at the gym. I'll try again next week after drinking a lot of water and see if it works.
We're going to a Cub Scout Halloween party this evening. I called to find out the menu and it is stuff Brian will eat so I don't have to feed him first but I think I'm going to make some clam chowder so I won't be hungry and if I sample, I won't sample very much. I'm going to wear my witch's costume which should be fun.
Kiko - I was wondering how you were doing. I'm sorry to hear the girls have been sick. The weather has been strange lately (real hot then real cold for you non-Dallasites) so maybe that is part of it. I do know Brian got healthier as he got older so your girls may be the same.
Hi, Barb. Thanks for jogging my memory re clam chowder! I have some scallops in the freezer that I simmered for coquilles St Jacques way before H. went to the hospital. Methinks I'll make them into chowder for tomorrow's supper. I have a pot luck for the Fair Board AGM at noon! All we ever seem to do in this Village is eat! I managed the noon hour lunch today without much damage.
It's been a busy day of cooking, serving and sitting through a boring meeting but I did get a chance to put out some Halloween decorations and switch my stone head of Diana on the porch into fall garb. She wears pine and berries for Christmas but I won't do that until mid-November.
It's been a gorgeous day and the Girls have spent a lot of time out on the deck just loafing and watching leaves fall. Tomorrow after Church I'll start some raking before the 1:30 pot luck and meeting - the long range forecast for the week is back to rain so I'd better get started at least!
I'm glad to see everyone is up and about and doing things. Life is too darn short to waste!
Hi... I haven't had a chance to read the thread - just wanted to say hi... we have all had a vomiting virus - how charming! So I will pop back in later and catch up with everyone.
