Default 300+ And Ready to Try Again #746..

WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

Hi Everyone,

Finally have a chance to pop in and say hello before bedtime.

Lilion: Congrats on your -3. Way to go.

Catherine (HVL): Great job on getting other people into the pool. I bet they are thanking you all the time for it and the "skinny minnie's" who are letting their guard down and getting to realize that fat people are actually really nice and we won't hurt or eat them. Any time we can educate folks it is wonderful. Thank you for doing that. It is so sweet and nice to see you speaking about your hunny.

Shadie: I am still in the good, tee hee, fight. Doing ok and trying to stay cool cause yes it is a hot tamale here. The worst thing is that it doesn't seem to cool down at night. So it's AC all the time. My dad is doing ok. He is getting pretty impatient to be able to walk on his foot. Thanks a bunch for asking.

Valerie: Yea to you on only 1 more pound to go for your -30 mark. You can do it girl. I am so proud of you to clean all the stalls. I had lots of animals including horses growing up and my dad has lots now that we are helping him care for since he broke his leg so it is very hard work . You go girl. Have a safe trip!

Alison: You will do great in school. Congrats and you can get right back on the wagon and loose those 3 pounds and then some! You can do it.

BabyBug: Welcome to you We love to have new people and we hope that we can encourage you and you can encourage us and we can all get slimmer and much healthier as we go along.

Xena: Oh, I wish I lived near you. I would drag your bootie to the pool. Once you get in there it is ok. You will enjoy it so much. I am very tall too, although not as tall as you at 5'10" myself. Some of the Curves Machines were not ok for me. Take a big deep breath and puff up your chest. Think about me at 497 pounds when I first started going to the gym and the pool and walk in with your head high. You have every right to be there and enjoy your workouts to the fullest! YOu can do it.

Brandnewme: Yea!!!! -12.75" Wonderful. Also, congrats on going back to school. You will do awesome.

Future: Don't worry about mentioning all of us! YOu are so wonderful too and such a sweetie to even think about it. We all know that we can't mention every one every single time.

Brenda31: Welcome. I hope that you are as comfortable here as I have become and that you make great connections like I have. I love, love, love everyone here and feel like they help me so much to stay motivated and uplifted. May you feel the same way.

Well, anyone I didn't mention today, I love you all and hope you are all doing well and staying op. Where are you Tashabella and Biggirl? Missing you guys.

Blessings all,
Dogpal

'Morning ladies!

Congrats to everyone who's lost - great job! Congrats to those of us who keep on truckin' even though we're not seeing the losses we want - as long as week keep moving, we'll be fine!

Welcome to all the new posters. Everyone is wonderful here, and you couldn't find a better group of people to help motivate and support you! Feel free to jump right in.

I'm tired this morning, and I have a headache. Work called me early to see if I'd come in at 6 rather than 6:45, and normally that wouldn't be an issue but I'm being very noncompliant today. They don't want me there until this headache goes away anyway! Otherwise, it will be a scary day for everyone who comes in contact with me

Anyhow, I should probably get my butt in gear. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Good Morning Ladies,

Well, I am very happy today. I weighed in and alas I have only gone down 1 more pound but, I am going to look at the big picture today. I started around the 1st of May and I have lost 31 pounds! I am down since then 22.75 inches on my body with 4 of those inches being off my hips and two of them off my waist. I have really been lazy when it comes to giving it my all. So, I am recommitting myself to getting healthy in 2005 right here and now. I want to have fun in life and we have a big huge trip planned in December at Christmas time to go to California for a visit and then on to Disneyland for two days with my in-laws. I have been to Disneyland a bazillion times but never been to the sister park "California Adventure Land" and this year we are getting "park Hopper" tickets. I want to be down in my weight by a lot more so I can keep up with everyone. One of my sister in laws is a very large lady also and she is going to have gastric bypass surgery in October so I will really be the biggest one in the crowd. The real bottom line is I want to be healthy and have some fun. So, here I go with my commitment in front of God and all of you ladies.

Thank you for your support. Without it I would really be lost and not the good kind of lost.

Good luck on Thursday Jillybean

Hope your headache goes away real soon Brandnewme!

Blessings everyone,
Dogpal

hello ladies!

Xena - Just wanted to say thanks for mentioning that website. Seems to be just what I needed.

I'm getting nervous about this weekend. Its my first "temptation". My brithday is Saturday (I'll be 23, woo hoo!) and we're having Hot Wings. The wings are bought and just waiting for Dad to work his magic on. oooh boy. I just know i'm going to have some. How could I not? But maybe I can cut down the amount that I usually have..hmm.. Well, atleast I mentioned that I didn't want a chocolate cake this year. But I think my mother is getting a pie, which is just as bad And I don't even know what my friends have planned. So its going to be rough, this weekend. I can feel it. The good news is my birthday present is going to be a MP3 player, which I asked for, and which will really get my butt in gear when I'm exercising..

*walks in slowly peeping around corner*

Hi everyone! I’ve been out of it for about a week or two. I was hiding away in the library or in the bedroom trying to get back on course before finals hit me. I had my finals yesterday. Both my physics and Calculus final were on the same day. I’m kinda worried about my calculus tho you know when you study so much things start to get fuzzy… well I’ve never had that problem before, until yesterday It was like I knew the material but the minute I looked at the final, the material flew outta my ears. I don’t even want to think about what I’ve gained or lost or maintained… I really haven’t focused too much on it, but I did try to watch what I ate. I didn’t log anything tho. So I was sorta flying blind on the calorie intake. I also caught a nasty chest cold so I’ve been taking it easy. No water aerobics and no gym. My asthma is really kicking into gear too. I also managed to put a kink into my neck. Must have slept wrong… sheesh when it rain it pours.

I finally got to meet JuleeCees!! We met up at the Ontario Mills mall and had lunch and walked the mall for about 4 hours. It was really nice to be able to meet someone from here and put a face and voice to the name. It makes things a little more personal knowing there really is a flesh and blood person behind all these names. Almost reassuring. It was SUPER NICE to meet JuleeCees. Hopefully any other ladies in the area of Southern California that would like to meet up, maybe we can all get together if it’s possible.

The guys did come for the driveway this Saturday. They did a BEAUTIFUL job! The only thing is I didn’t take and before and after pictures The after pictures are easy to do heheh but the before pictures I’ll have to rely on what I took while we had the tractor here. Hopefully there are some good shots of the dirt mess that it was before we put the cement in. I will take pics when I can and post them up on my webpage I’m really excited now because the driveway is done we can get the rest of the yard done. Our next project is prepping the other side of our house for drainage and a shed. Then after that, I’m going to map out where I want to put my raised gardens at and order the bricks for it. James wants to put a Gazeebo and Jacuzzi in the backyard now too… so if he still really wants that, I may have to hold off on my raised gardens, re-calculate the finance situation and see if we have enough money to do that. That just means I might have to get rid of my water feature. But if you think about it… I’m getting a bigger water feature it’s just not for the fishies I was hoping to put in the water feature hehehe.

Well guys I’m outta here. I feel strange, like I should be doing homework I am hoping to get my grades soon… I hope I did good!

Take care everyone!

BrokenButterfly--me too! I just turned 23 on the 20th, and my parents and sister came to visit this past weekend to celebrate, and they bought me a 40-gig iPod! I LOVE it so far (although the fm transmitter for the car stereo doesn't work so hot). I used it at the gym yesterday on the elliptical, and it's SO much better than the music they play in the gym I hope you love your mp3 player as much as I love mine

As for temptation, I hate to say this because I sound like I am consoning a binge, but one day of bad eating is not going to kill you, nor will you gain any real weight from it (I say "real" weight because yes, it may cause you to retain water)--remember that in order to gain just 1 pound, you would have to eat 3500 calories MORE than your body burns in a day, so like 6500 calories or so for the day. How likely is that, really? Just cut back on the chicken and only have one piece of pie--everything in moderation. Have a great time!!

Ladies!

Ran cross this while playing on the net and wanted to share...Hope you don't mind.

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, when we are able to go on a nice vacation or when we retire. The truth is there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges.

It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with ... and remember that time waits for no one.

So, stop waiting ...
Until your car or home is paid off.
Until you get a new car or home.
Until your kids leave the house.
Until you go back to school.
Until you finish school.
Until you lose 10 lbs.
Until you gain 10 lbs.
Until you get married.
Until you get a divorce.
Until you have kids.
Until you retire.
Until summer..
Until spring.
Until winter.
Until fall.
Until you die.

There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. So work like you don't need money, love like you've never been hurt, and, dance like no one's watching.

Words to live by!

Hi everyone,

I am new around here. I registered a while back but was never much for writing. But After seeing how everyone is so encouraging I just thought it would be great to get involved in the conversations. I just started my new weight loss plan two days ago. I have managed to get exercise in and eat less so I am a happy camper thus far.

Dogpal: Congrats on the loss! WOOHOO! The headache is gone, thank goodness. Thanks for the kind thoughts!

BrokenButterfly: Jilly's right - moderation! Enjoy your birthday, don't short change yourself, but don't overdo it. You'll be fine! And happy early birthday!

Lilion: Thanks for that. That's exactly what I needed to read today!

Shadie: Have you considered maybe trying to eat a bit more? I know others have this problem too, but when I'm not eating enough, I start gaining. Or, perhaps you just need to mix things up a bit? Good luck! You *can* and *will* do it!

Welcome, KittieCat! Congratulations on taking that first scary step towards healthy living! You'll love it here.

Hi guys,

Quick post.

BrokenButterfly: You will do fine. Enjoy your birthday and don't stress out about the food. Just eat if you are hungry. Hope you have a great time with your family.

SueMarie: glad to see you. We miss you when you are not here. I'm sure you did well on all of your tests. Have fun with your yard planning. It sounds wonderful.

Jillybean: Wow, how did you figure all of that stuff about calories out? You guys are soooo smart.

Lilion: Thank you so much for posting that lovely poem/saying. It is so true that often times we wait for everything to be just right and it isn't going to be just right. It is nice to be reminded of that.

Shadie, Shadie, Shadie: I feel your pain. I don't have any answers but I do know that falling off the wagon and going back to the way things were is not the answer. YOu can do it girl. Just keep up what you know to be right and maybe stop weighing yourself for a while. That is what I did. I have been doing things to a tee and then bam, I am stuck with 1 pound or no pounds coming off. When you are as large as myself it is a bummer. Just hang in there. things will turn around. I bet you are gaining muscle! Keep your head up girlfriend.

KitieCat: Welcome to you. I know you will enjoy coming here. Everyone is very supportive and encouraging. Jump right in whenever you want to.

Brandnewme: Thank you sweetie for the congrats.

Come on everyone, we can do this together we can.

Blessings and have a great evening,
Dogpal

dogpal - Thank you for your encouragement regarding the swimming. I know I need to not care what anyone there thinks and just do what I want to do. And congratulations on the pounds and inches lost!

BrokenButterfly - I agree with those who have advised you to enjoy your birthday in moderation and try not to stress about it too much. Easier said than done I know! But a few chicken wings and a piece of pie doesn't ruin a diet. You can do it.

SueMarie - I bet you are relieved to get those two tests out of the way. Sounds like you worked really hard and I bet you did great.

shadie - I think it is great you came here to vent. I can SO empathize with how you are feeling. As they say, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." You can do this. Your body may just be going through an adjustment phase. It's hard to be patient through this process but we must believe that if we keep doing the right thing, the results WILL come. Maybe not always as fast as we want them to, but they will. Keep hanging in there.

Welcome, KittieCat, looking forward to getting know you!

I am in a weird place right now. I am doing really well at work lately. I am very focused, getting lots done, and feeling very productive....more so than I have felt in a long time. But outside of work I am in a bit of a funk. Still struggling to string together more than one "good" diet day in a row.

I look forward to coming out here and reading about everyone's successes because it lets me know it is possible. And it even helps to hear about the struggles others are going through because it makes me realize I am not the only one. Thanks, everyone, for being here.
