Default 300+ And Ready To Try Again...#729

WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!

I want everyone to do me a favor...

In exactly 2 weeks from today, if I'm not posting activly on this thread I want everyone to send me an email telling me to get my butt back here!

OK, here's the thing. I'm sort of a "trendy" person...not in that I go for what's popular, in that I go through phases of doing things year after year. Example, I got interested in drawing a year ago, then gradually lost interest and stopped. Recently I felt the urge to draw again and started doing it a lot. Then I pulled out some of my old stuff to compare with my new stuff and noticed the dates on my first old drawing and my first recent drawing were the same, except for the year. When I got interested in writing poetry again, and noticed the same thing! Yesterday, I remembered the UN and PW for my old fitday account and looked it up. Guess what? I started my first (unsuccessful) attempt to lose weight exactly one year, one month from my most recent attempt!

Anyway, since I date everything I do, I went through a lot of my stuff and realized that I go through these 6-week trends year after year. I get interested in something, it's all I think about, then I lose interest and stop. And it happens around the same times every year!

Ok, so today is exactly week 4 of my interest in health and weight loss. I've noticed that unlike when I first started a few weeks ago, I am getting cravings more and more for foods I shouldn't have.

What I hope to accomplish by revealing all of this is that THIS TIME I keep myself accountable so that I don't allow myself to "trend out" of healthy eating and weight loss. I think it will work...

However, if it doesn't, I would you wonderful supportive people to help remind me that healthy eating isn't a trend, it's a lifestyle. And remind me of how much better I feel and sleep and all that stuff. I don't want to give up!

2 more weeks!

If I work hard and make this "trend" last for 3 months, I know I can do it for the rest of my life.

Good morning ladies! Thank goodness it’s finally Friday! I never thought this day would come! (Of course I say that every Friday!!!) LOL.

shadiepurple – ‘The Fat Flush Foods’ book you talked about sounds really interesting. I’ve never heard of it until now, so I think my aunt and I would really be interested in reading it! I will have to look for it next time I go to the bookstore!

thinthinker – I’m happy that you are doing better with your food issues this week. It is such a struggle sometimes! I am only on day two of my plan – and I am already struggling. (I haven’t cheated – but I sure get tempted!) lol. Sounds like Son #1 is a busy guy! Isn’t that how it usually works? You get promoted – but you still have to do your old job – plus the new one? Sometimes it just doesn’t seem worth it – but I guess you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do to climb the ladder.

doxiemom – Sounds like you really have a good routine going after work. I need to find a routine that I can get into. I like to have my days pretty much planned – and don’t like last minute surprises lol. And my aunt and I are definitely going to be joining the Power House Gym on Sunday morning. The gym is large, not too busy, and we feel comfortable there.

hippievanlady – I can understand how you feel about your room-mate. It is so hard to deal with someone who would almost RATHER be sick. My father has many health problems and though he doesn’t go to the doctor (hardly at all) he complains about his problems constantly. I get to the point that I KNOW what he is going to say before it comes out of his mouth. He is my dad – and I love him – but I just wish that if he were in so much pain, and so miserable, that he WOULD go to a doctor to get help. I think some people like the attention. (I don’t get it!) I hope that you can keep your sanity though (I know how hard it is) and keep being a great friend. You are wonderful!

dogpal – Thanks – I’m sure that I will have a great workout at the gym on Sunday. I think for the first few weeks, I am going to stick to the cardio machines. (Treadmill, stair climber, bikes, elliptical, etc…) until I can do some of that without getting out of breath. Then I will move on to some strengh training with cardio. And even though you are only using the pool at your gym – I have to give you kudos for getting out of the house and going! Oh and by the way… HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! Hope you have a wonderful birthday!!!

Tashabella – So sorry to hear that you were turned down for the car loan from your credit union. I was also turned down through my credit union & through the dealership – so I had to have my mother put the used car I bought into her name. I will say a prayer that everything works out for you and your family. Sometimes we have to struggle to get where we need to be. (((Hugs))).

SueMarie301 – Wow! Being in an earthquake sounds so scary! I probably would have done what you did – sat there and waited. I hate to see people panicking. It’s like a fast spreading virus. One person panicks – everyone panicks! Hopefully everyone stays okay out there though!

Well – my plan for today is to work until 5:30 (unless they make me stay late like last night) and then head to the track to walk. I want to see how far that I can get without keeling over…

Yesterday’s meal plan went okay. Dinner didn’t go as planned since I got home late from work. I did cook a chicken breast, a potato, and had a salad – but I could not eat all of the chicken breast. I bought it pre-seasoned and I did not like the seasoning on it. I only ate a few bites of my potato, and ate all of my salad. For a snack I had an Orville Reddenbacher (sp?) mini lowfat popcorn bag. (So I know that I did not get all of my calories in that I needed for the day.)

I am trying to eat atleast 1,300 calories each day. The last time I was eating healthy – 1,300 seemed to be a good range for me – though it was hard to get in all of the calories.

I did manage to plan out all of my meals for today though.

Breakfast: 1 Medium egg (fried in PAM spray) on top of wheat toast & a Navel orange.

Snack #1: Sliced Cucumber (½ of a large cucumber)

Lunch: 1 slice wheat bread with 2 slices roasted turkey & tsp of mustard - 1 peach & Slim fast lunch bar.

Snack #2: Cucumber slices (½ of a large cucumber)

Dinner: 24 pieces of shrimp (seems like a lot - but it doesn't have much fat/calories) - 1 ½ cup of steamed broccoli & cauliflower (with ‘I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray’) & baked potato.

Snack #3: 1 Slim Fast Snack Bar

Now the only problem with this – is that the calories only amount to about 1,200. I know that this is not enough – I just don’t know what to incorporate to boost the calories. I don’t want to eat anything starchy – but I’d like to up the calories 100 – 150 more. Anyone have any ideas there?

This weekend might prove to be a little tricky for me – but I will not give in though. On Father’s day my brother and I are having a BBQ for my father. I know that they will be all sorts of really good food (steaks, noodle salads, desserts). I will just have to keep my hands off of them – and bring my own chicken to grill, and have a little Slim Fast snack for dessert.

Well ladies – I am off for a few. Sorry I couldn’t respond to everyone – but I hope you are all doing well! If I don’t get to pop in before I leave work – have a nice (safe) weekend! Thanks for all of the support!

(((hugs)))

- Kari

Solus - I swear that your post could have been written by me! I too have the same problem where I get interested in something for a certain number of weeks - and then I become bored with it - and move on to something else.

This time - I am trying my hardest to break that cycle and come out ahead! I know we can do it!

HAPPY, HAPPY FRIDAY CHICKIES!

DOGPAL:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR ANDREA,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!

I have to agree with Shadie, I too love your posts and feel very blessed to be a part of your "cyber" life! Hope you have a fantastic day.

Starting-Over - It seems like you're on the right track with everything. If you find your progress isn't what you want, you might want to check and make sure you are actually eating enough calories!

Solus - You hang in there! You CAN do this. It's not a "phase" - it's a lifestyle change!
Biggirl - I do hope you had a wonderful vacation. I hadn't posted in a while and trying to keep up with what I had missed, I inadvertently gave Dogpal your good vacation wishes!! Sorry!

Lilion - Tell your co-worker I love the name! Weiner Schnitzel - what a hoot! It has been very dry and sunny here in KC, so hopefully you and your family can have a very nice "rest of the vacation."

Tashabella - I am really sorry you didn't get the loan. Something will work out. Know that I am praying for you.

SueMarie - An earthquake - how frightening. I'm predisposed to anxiety attacks as it is (I have a horrible bridge phobia) and not sure that being in your shoes wouldn't have sent me right into a full fledge attack. I can understood your point about the little ones actually being a good thing so a big one doesn't hit. Kick back in that pool this weekend and relax. You deserve it!

To everyone else I have missed - happy friday and bigs hugs to you all!

Well...another Friday. Yeah I went through the quakes yesterday too...yes I said quakes (plural). There were actually 3 in the space of about 15 minutes but depending on where you were, you felt the big one or maybe the smaller one..or none at all. I was at work on the ground floor and what sounded like the fire alarm went off....but it was actually the Quake sensor...which only registers anything over a 5.0 (the biggest yesterday was a 5.3). I idn't really feel much...maybe the floor moved a little..but it was gentle. However...had I been in my office on the 2nd floor I would have felt it much more...our building sways...on the other hand when they had the 5.2 over the weekend, I was on the 7th floor of a hotel and didn't feel a thing...but we were further away from the epicenter. I've lived in a major hurrican area and in a major tornado zone as well. Erathquakes shouldn't bother me much...right? LOL

For those of you who have a few spare $ on hand and live near a Target, they are having a nice clearance sale on clothing now...I got 2 adorable (and very nice) pairs of size 22's (wheee1) for $16 each and they will probably go down again. I also got some cute shoes on clearance as well and a few nice shirts...the shirts I got in the Jr's department which made me smile.

Now that I am replacing pants I have to get rid of things as well. I tried on a pair today that were in the closet...when I bought them they were a little snug..the lsat time I wore them they fot nicely..today they literally fell off. I wish you all lived closer so I could just open up my closet and let someone go shopping who I knew would appreciate a very stylish and well taken care of size 26 wardrobe. Ah well...

I am loving the weather here today...when it's nice outside it makes me want to be outside and at least take it in..and it makes me want to wear shorts and not eat as much. Still no luck on the shorts though...the ones they are selling in women's are too short and the cute baggy cargo's I tried on in Men's don't quite fit yet...but almost...maybe by the time the summer is over I can pick them up on end of season clearance. I have one pair of shorts overalls..but they are just massive on me. My other shorts are only suitable to wear around the house while doing laundry. I hate the way they ride up on my thighs. Meanwhile I need all new bras..but bra shopping is a royal pain in my shrinking patootie. I'd almost rather shop for bathing suits (the horror).

Hope you all have a happy and healthy weekend...OH....joy of joys...COCA COLA ZERO is now at my local grocery store in 12 packs...if you haven't tasted it yet...get some! No calories, no sugar..tastes like REGULAR COKE..pinky swear! I detest Diet Coke because of the funky aftertaste...the DC with Splenda is a vast improvement but this is nirvana. I only wish they sold the Crystal Light to go Peach Tea packets as well. Bah.

I'm rambling...the breeze must be getting to my head...wheeee...

Summer's coming...hang in there

JuleeCeeS, why not put the clothes you don't wear anymore on ebay? There's a HUGE market for plus size women's clothes on there. You can sometimes get as much as 50-75% of what you paid for them new. I buy a lot of my own clothes on EBAY because at least I get SOME kind of deal that way.

*sigh* larger clothes are just sooo darn expensive! I am going to put what I save in fat clothes to buy...lots and lots of THIN clothes! MUHAHAHAHAHA

Wink

hey starting_over You could boost your calories by adding grilled chicken, salmon, or tuna to your salads. Olives are always nice too. When I can't find a way to 'fill up' I tend to add to salads or add more fruit because I love interesting salads and I LOVE fruit. Feta cheese is always nice too.

Speaking of salads, anyone try Wendy's Mediterranean (ooo sp?) salad? I had one last week and it was awesome - wonderful large, tasty salad, even minus the dressing! Now, all I need to hear is that it's loaded with fat in the McDonald's sort of way Anyway, if it is, do tell b/c the next time I visit my friends & fam in the US I might live off those

Thanks everyone for those holiday well wishes. Overall, it went well. The wedding was fab, it was great visiting friends, my mom hit many a nerve, but at least I got rid of that gnawing, whiney (Mommy!) feeling. And oh boy did I take a maintenance break! I think I needed it though to remain interested and motivated. I've never temporarily and on purpose 'fallen off' and gotten back again, let alone with motivation! btw those 2lbs I seemed to have gained were water! and now i'm back to my last weigh in weight - THANK THE LORD!

Now, for one of my favorite people in the whole wide world...

Happy Birthday Andrea!!! I'm sure it will be a fantastic year for you - and you deserve it! Enjoy yourself!

Hi all!

Not happy times here. Honey did NOT get the job.

BIGGIRL: Here are the stats on the Wendy's Mediterranean Salad from Dotti's site:
Mediterranean Salad, no dressing (310 cal/14 g fat/5 g fiber) 6.5
House Vinaigrette Dressing, 1 pkt. (190 cal/18 g fat/0 g fiber/8 g carbs) 5.5
Homestyle Garlic Croutons, 1 pkt. (70 cal/2.5 g fat/0 g fiber/9 g carbs) 1.5
The numbers in bold at the end of each item are WW points.

See you all later when I feel more like talking.

Talking hello ladies

Hello ladies! I am Donna, 26, from Indiana, and I am currently at 259lbs. My starting weight was 275, the biggest I have ever been in my life. I am doing the WW flex plan. I never realized how big I had let myself get, until I was looking at some pics from last summer, and I couldn't believe what I looked like. I was absolutely horrified! I would see overweight people and I would feel sorry for them, but in my mind, I wasn't that big. I have a 6 foot 2 husband who only weighs about 210, and he loves me for who I am, and never said anything about my weight, but when my hips would start going out, and my knees hurt all the time, and my blood pressure was through the roof, he just said, maybe its time to think about your health. He said he wanted to keep me around for awhile, lol. So that's what I did, not for my looks, but for my health.
I made my self a big pot of veggie soup, no meat, just a little boullion, almost like the cabbage soup diet recipe, and I eat it between meals, and also as a meal starter. Pretty much no cal, no fat, and very filling!! I add mushrooms and squash or zucchini, and it makes it even better!!
I also spend a lot of time in the pool, good for my body, **** on my hair, lol.
Well, just wanted to join your thread, talk to ya'll later.

Well done on maintaining, Melissa ... I often think that if I can maintain when I'm not thinking about what I'm eating/doing etc ... then I've put in place changes that are going to last me for the rest of my life!

Where are all the people that have gone awol? 2Cute! I miss you! Grannie Mary ... and all the others?

My baby steps are doing ok ... I've been sticking to the 5 minutes a day on the exercise bike (well I've been doing 7) and so far my back/knee has been holding up reasonably well. It's suddenly got a lot colder here in the last week, so that isn't helping my arthritis any. Apart from that, I'm just hoping not to have gained when I go see the dietician on Tuesday!

Hiya ladies..

I haven't been home much in the last week - my uncle passed away after 22 months of treatments, surgeries, and medications. He had a brain tumor that came back twice. While it was a blessing, it's still hard. So, I've been dealing with that and helping my dad deal with it, and haven't had much time for anything else.

Hopefully everyone has a wonderful weekend..
