Walk for Life
I wanted to take a moment to share my participation in A Walk for Life with you. The Walk covers a distance of 10k and will be held in London on 19 June 2005. It's a stroll, not a race! past all the famous monuments, etc. And at the end of the race all participants receive a goody bag full of all sorts of great offers (hopefully no naughty candybars!)
Anyway, I wanted to share something with you. My true journey to lose weight came from a day of getting real. I had been resisting sweets and fatty foods for about a month after failing to stick with a strict GI diet. I was feeling sorry for myself, wondering why I wasn't born with a the genes for a beautiful, tall, gorgeous body. Then, I realised all my life I have been missing the point entirely. At my weight my health is at serious risk! I have had problems ith my right leg (all of it, the knee, the bones, etc) since I was a child and I put on a lot of weight after spending nearly a year in a hip to toe cast. I have now developed sciatica. I have been in denial about the fact that my weight has anything to do with it.
This year I was moved by the participants, all shapes and sizes, who ran/walked/jogged the London Marathon for family and friends - in my eyes the ultimate unselfish act. I thought 'What can I do to help myself ultimately while at the same time being unselfish and helping others in my life'? Of course the answer has always been there. AIDS has touched my family in recent years, more than once. I found Crusaid online and immediately signed up for the Walk for Life.
OK, off the soap box!!! I don't think I'm allowed to post the URL to my sponsorship page here, so if you're interested in donating anything, PM me or EM me for my sponsorship page. If you donate online the money goes directly to Crusaid.
Thanks everyone for your support the short time that I have been involved with this board.
Love you all!!!
Tammara
