Good morning, Soon2bfab!
I'm glad you had a good weekend with your parents!

I've got a day to myself! I'm so excited. I'm going to tell DH to buy his lunch today instead of popping home and wrecking my "alone time".
More gardening, some laundry, ... sounds mundane, but I'm looking forward to it.

Good Monday morning! Was it ever quiet in here over the weekend!

My Beach towel is all shaken out and straightened as Gail is coming this morning. If it were not for her, I doubt that I'd ever get the wrinkles out of my life.

It's a gloriously sunny day and Sarah is booked for the morning. I'm pretty sore from all my gardening yesterday so will do a lot of supervision today, rather than heavy work. (Famous last words! After my Advil kicks in, I'll probably be out there digging and splitting perennials. )

What's happening on your part of The Beach?

Good morning, Chicklets! <flipping over on my towel to grab some ice water>

Well, I was up until about 12:30 a.m. painting my daughter's headboards and footboards. We cut the bunk beds in half to make 2 beds (she has friends over often, but is feeling "too old" for bunk beds)... i painted one side of the boards with one coat last night, and my husband said he will work on it today. We are painting them a creamy color and the trim colors are purple and green to match these 2 comforters that we put on layaway at walmart for her... my goal is to give her an awesome pre-teen room.

I'm very excited to see that I lost one pound! I am angry that I went off program at Christmas and have since gained back 9 of the pounds that i lost... what is that old expression about 1 step forward, 2 steps back? that is how i feel right now... but it will come!

i decided today that monday through friday i will take my shoes and socks to work with me and cut my lunch hour in half. i'll spend half an hour walking up and down the 6 level parking garage and the other half eating lunch. i have cheated a few times this week, but i always feel so sick afterwards... i guess because i know better and i know i'm not doing myself any favors.

well, i need to get to work! hugs ya'll!

NO MORE MICE Yipeee!!Well the mice situation we had for a week is finally solved, and they are GONE.

Soon, thanks for starting us up! I doubt I will ever be up early enough to start the daily! I just love my sleep too much! So glad you had fun with your mom and dad! Hope the fried chicken lady keep to herself. Just think of those arteries clogging up!

Ellis, I don't think it sounds strange at all (but you knew I would say that!)...alone time, unstructured...my version of paradise! Hope you get some time after all the work to survey your lovely domain and relax!

Ruth, were you gardening in your garden or over at the greenhouse? Hope you take it easy today...you've earned the right to supervise!

Marine, I know you want to stay away from those cheats. They aren't worth it. Your lunch plan sounds fantastic! Congrats on the pound loss...don't focus on the past, just look forward to getting back to "virgin weight loss"!

BB, glad you had a nice mother's day. Enjoy your bike...I think that can be a lot of fun! Congrats on being mouse free!

to all the chickies to come!

Me:
Well, I'm hovering between 210 and 211.5...so fantastic! I'm so glad that hitting P1 did the trick, though cravings are still hovering around the edges. I think some of them are very mental, and I know I need to work on that...just has to wait until I'm done with this class. I have most of the month of June to just focus on me at home and I'm really looking forward to getting back to the healthy practices of last summer...journaling, working in my OA workbook, reading the OA literature, going to OA meetings, (are you seeing a theme here? ), praying, meditating, journaling some more, etc. I know it helped immensely last summer! And hopefully lots of gardening and some hiking or kayaking on the weekends. It'll be great, I hope!!!

Had a really nice weekend though I'm sore all over! DH and I helped out at Habitat for our last weekend with the youth group. In the am we helped lay out and level a 30 yds of topsoil at a house they finished last Christmas. The topsoil was full of clay clods and we had to break up a ton of them with a rake. My shoulders and back hurt like the dickens! Then we went over to the other house after lunch and installed sheet rock. Made feel feel very strong! Sunday I did lots of phone calling to friends and to my mom and grandma. It's nice to talk to people, but I still miss them. Wanted to make a pie recipe I found in a "Unique Desserts with Splenda" cookbook, but DH forgot to replenish the Splenda Granular. He doesn't get that when you finish something that's a staple, like splenda or peanut butter, you just automatically buy more. <sigh> Oh well, he'll get some tonight and hopefully I can make that pie tonight. It's a sour cream apple pie with struesel topping that sounds delicious! I've been craving pie...hope I can freeze about half of it so I don't overdo this week.

Have a great day, chickies!

Little pressed for time this morning - we are shorthanded at work - AGAIN. So I'll just send out a BIG hello to everyone this morning. Seems that most everyone had a good weekend and I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday.

I may have overdone things on Saturday... a really good workout at the gym, but I worked on my arms/shoulders and then came home and washed my car and cleaned out the inside of my car later that afternoon. I don't have as bad of a problem as I did last time with my arms but I'm sore from about the waist up. I also did more ab work than I normally do and I can certainly feel it - which is probably good! That belly of mine needs all the work it can get.

No real change on the scale this week, but that's ok - better than a gain! I had asparagus for the first time last night (yes... I'm almost 29 y/o and had not ever eaten asparagus before) and I loved it! Definitely going to add that to my arsenal of veggies.

Much love to all of you and I hope you have a great day! To all the mothers - I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day - ever mom deserves that! I talked to my mom for almost an hour - can't wait to see her at the end of the month!

Morning all!

Laurie - YEAH! Congrats. Make sure you cut that pie into individual servings and freeze them. Heck you are close to onederland! You are going to pass me if I don't get busy!

I had a good weekend. I did get my exercising in but had waaaaay too many carbs this weekend. Eating wasn't too bad but I had a Starbucks Frappachino on Sat and Sun. That was bad. I was the designated driver for my girlfriends on Saturday - that got me off the hook for drinkies, so I didn't consume too many empty calories. But when they sent me to the store for more drinks and ciggs (theirs - not mine) I got the frappachino and complained to the Starbucks girl about driving the drunks around. Oh well at least I got my exercising in.

I got golf lessons and a glass sculpture for mothers day. What did you all get?

Just read the weekend chat.

Bami - Glad you are up and moving around. I remember my knee kind of felt like spagetti for awhile. Glad DS is helpful. Little men love to help their moms!

GOOOD MORNING CHICKADEES!!

SOON Somebody's gotta start the thread!! I know it won't ever be ME!!! I don't even bother to really get going in the mornings until my family is off to school! I have learned to stay out of their way! 3 teenaged dd!! too much angst in the morning! LOL
Hope you have a great day with the Fried Chicken Woman!!

ellis I am totally with you on the "alone" time!!
It really messes me up when someone shows up and disturbs my quiet time!
When my family is home, there is NO quiet..there are too many of them!!!
I hope you have a great time in your garden today!

Ruth Do you own a nursery? I would just love to have a greenhouse of my own! I enjoy my flower gardens and my veggies too (tho I have more flowers than veggies right now). I would imagine your planting season is extremely different than mine! Don't over do it today!

Marine WAY TO GO on losing a pound!!!!
I'm gonna be doing the same thing with bunk beds this summer...my oldest dd will be moving in with her grandmom (she lives closer to the college my dd is attending in the fall) and my kids are gonna switch rooms, my middle dd is moving into the smaller room, and the twins are getting the other one so we can separate their bunk beds. I'm gonna have a bunch of painting to do then, but on the walls not the beds! Your beds sound like they are gonna look great!! I'm sure your dd will love it! Have you ever looked at Pottery Barn for Teens? You can get some incredible ideas from them...their accessories are a little pricey, but the ideas are almost endless.

BeachBum GO BEACHBUM GO!!! I hope your Nor'easter blows away today!!

BeachGal I am with you hiking and canoeing!!(I've never kayaked before) I wanted to go canoeing so bad this weekend, but there just wasn't time! My sister is coming to town for my dd graduation, and we are definately going to go canoeing and/or hiking.
That pie recipe sounds delicious!!! MMMmmmmmm!

ME....I had a pretty busy weekend, it seems like they always are.
Saturday we had to be at the band room at school for a Dance line meeting (my youngest dd)and straight from there we headed to the university for free physicals (my middle dd-cheerleader, ds-baseball, and dd-danceline) then I headed home ate my lunch and was out the door with my oldest dd to find a dress for the band banquet! By the time we got home I was whupped! But we got our two oldest dd off to the banquet, I know they were the most beautiful girls there!! then my evening was totally quiet, my DH & DS went shopping for ME! They got me a new food processor! a really good one too! I have already used it several times! I know it's gonna get used daily!
Sunday it seemed like I stayed in the kitchen all day! my dh and I did get to go walking together tho! I am glad the weekend is over!! I never imagined I would ever say that!!!!
Today, I have to stick near the phone, I am supposed to go get my drug screening and blood work for my upcoming job...I HATE WAITING ON PHONE CALLS!!

Well, I'm off to go stretch my back out on my balance ball!

I'll talk to Y'all Chickies later!

Hi gals!

Oh..bad bad weekend for me...I went off track, so..today is start of P1 again, and I am doing a solid 2 wks from today (possibly 3...before P2) I had some beer and pizza this weekened...had to mow 3 yards and was wanting a beer so bad..and then mother's day!!! I just need my new resolve...I made it through the entire first part of the week w/o a glitch but then I had a couple of glitches, lol!

I just want to do this perfect...I am renewing my exercise commitment and my water commitment...

Thanks for hearing me ramble...
Sarah

(I think I will start a journal too..so, I am accountable to EVERYONE!!)

Good Morning everyone--

Why is it that Monday mornings seem to give us more resolve? My eating plan went to **** in a handbasket the latter part of last week. And, yesterday, we had both families over for Mother's day and grilled tri-tip which is not the leanest meat. The real problem was the fact that MIL gave us a deep fryer for Christmas so we wanted to show her how well it made french fries. It makes them too well in my opinion.

The home scale shows down a pound though. Perhaps the fact that I at least had some good days counts for something. The real test will be the WW scale this AM. So far, I am not giving up!

Anchor weight - Golf lessons! What a great gift. I so love to play though I don't go often. It is a great sport for me because I only compete against myself and it isn't necessary to be a "jock" to play reasonably well. Hope you enjoy.

PHinsUP! - Waiting for the phone to ring is not a fun thing to do. When does the new job start?

Sassygal - Asparagus is one of my favorites. Tried artichokes yet?

Beachgal - Very cool that you work with Habitat. And, congrats on the continued progress down the scale! :

MarineTubaMom - Up 'til 12:30 painting? Wow. I wouldn't have it in me. Personally, I love the color combo of purple and green! That's my color scheme in my bedroom too and it all started with a comforter that had those colors. We can all make ourselves nuts wishing we wouldn't have gained pounds back (I am good at this myself ) but what is important is what we are doing now.

Ruth - Enjoy your day in the garden. Ours so far is looking promising. We have some squash, corn and tomato plants. I am having a little more trouble with the herbs, particularly the basil and thyme.

Well, off to the rat race. Why does it seem as though the rats are ahead?

SoCal....They couldn't get me into the orientation class that starts today, so I'll have to wait for the next one in 2 weeks, then I'll get to start! and I'm still waiting on the phone!!!
WAY TO GO on losing that lb!!

Sarah...I know you can stick with it, just picture the reward!! A leaner YOU!
You are worth the sacrifice!

Good Monday Morning - and it is a Monday! In all aspects! Yes, it's a day to feel rejuvenated and start goals that you have been meaning to. And it's also a day to be hurried, stressed out and deal with grumpy pre-teenagers!!! Arrgghh... my 12 yo DD is going to be the death of me, I swear it!

I actually woke up in a good mood - had a great weekend. My mom's day was great. DH made a SB version of our favorite dessert - Emeril's Peanut Butter Pie. I'm not sure if it was TOTALLY on plan, or within Phase 1 but I loved it! It was Cream Cheese (1/3 less fat) Natural Peanut Butter, Granular Splenda, a little Milk all mixed up and then folded in some Cool Whip (not the best thing - but it was the FF kind. Full of chemical gunk - I know!) DH bought me a 1 gram sugar dark chocolate bar and we grated some of that on top. That dessert would be the only thing that I have had that wasn't Phase 1 all week long -and I'm set to do one more week of it (and stick with it this time!)

Soon - Good morning to you and kudos for being so up and early. I think I missed the Fried Chicken woman story - but good luck with all that you do today!

Ellis - I'm in the laundry world today too. Some weekends I just don't want to deal with it, too much other stuff to do. I've sent DS to watch a movie while I get me "alone" time as well! Then we'll do kitchen and laundry duties while I work with him on some preschool stuff.

Ruth (I used green for your GREEN thumb!) I'm glad you have someone to turn to for that ironing of wrinkles! It makes life that much easier Enjoy your day - I'm going to plant a Hibiscus that I got on Saturday today. Then make a plan for what I need for my little flower bed.

Aileen - great motivation! Painting your dd's bed on "your" day! We did my DD's room a while back, she's 12 and wanted a jungle room. Now she wants to add pink fake fur and stuff like that to make it more "cool"
Good for you for deciding to exercise on your lunch hour - I need to make more time, I did it fo the first time last week (since I started SB - I used to do it, but it's so easy to get out of the habit.)

BB - glad you got ride of the miceys! In California we had Rats - yuk!!! So far no mice here, but I have a great big ol cat who loves to catch things, so maybe that's why. I love my exercise bike - I use it all the time because I can't walk outside, it hurts my shins. I'll be pedalling today too!

Laurie - Sounds like you had a FAB weekend! Getting where you wanted to be by the end of the month is great! Doing service also makes you feel so good. That's great you were able to help with Habitat. Doesn't it feel good to be able to help out physically? I sure love it, but I need to lose some more to be able to work as hard as I used to.

Sassy - good for you at the gym. I need to get out my weights and get working on these arms. I hope you have a great Monday and it's not too stressful! Yummy asparagus huh? I love it!

Amy - good for you being designated and staying away from all those carbs and calories! A frappucino or two won't kill ya - better than Daiquiris or Margaritas! Have fun with your golf lessons, sounds great!

PHins: Sounds like you got enough exercise just from your Saturday! I was in band in HS (colorguard) and loved the band banquets I bet they looked fabulous. Why were you in the kitchen on Sunday, they were supposed to be cooking for you Glad you like your gift - sounds great!

Sarah - just do exactly what you are doing, jump back on! You can do it! I did it, and I really fell hard off! Mine wasn't just a weekend, but two weeks of binging.... but I'm back! I'm still on phase one as well. Hang in there!

BirdLady - oh... deep fryers... we had to hide ours LOL! It's up in the attic I think, DH and I were too tempted to use it when we started our diet last year, so it and the bread maker are in hiding for awhile. I bet your meal was good though. I love Mondays - lots of resolve in them!

Whew - I probably missed someone who was posting while I did all this! I've been out of it for so long and missed you guys, so I wanted to chat with each of you - the ones I've talked to before and the new ones. I need this place to check in to so I stay on track!!! Thanks for all the support

Good Monday to y'all!

I had a very busy weekend! Saturday I had 2 appointments with 2 different couples about their wedding. I was really feeling crappy because I was sick but got through them somehow. The first appointment drove me crazy because the couple and the mother of the bride were full of the most ummm....how should I put this nicely?.....interesting questions. I don't know where the common sense was with these people but they kept asking me things like....Since there's only one bathroom, does that mean only one person can use the bathroom at a time? Another one of my favorites was: Are the rocks and dirt going to stay where they are? Ummm....it's a garden, where else are they supposed to go? After spending a good 2 hours with them, I was exhausted. The bride is one of those who likes to complain that she doesn't like just about everything. Now she's entitled to make decisions about what happens on the day of the wedding but she's 40-something years old and acts like she's 20-something! I couldn't wait to get done with that appointment!

On our way to the next appointment, we had quite an adventure. We were looking for somewhere to stop and have lunch. We got off on a wrong exit and ended up in a residential area. As we were driving down the street, we saw a bunch of people pointing at a car parked on the street. It had apparently just been hit and the guy took off. We came around the corner onto a main street and saw this old Bronco swerving all over the road and crash into another car right in front of us. At that point, we were kind of behind the Bronco and didn't know if we should go forward or back up. All of a sudden, his reverse lights came on. We shot past him as he barely missed us. He then took off again. We turned into a driveway to get out of his way. There was something obviously wrong with him. He was either drunk or on something. In all the commotion, we didn't get a license plate number but did call to report it to the police. I'm not sure if he got caught or not. It was an adventure!

Yesterday, we had our big welcome home for my grandma. She was actually in really good spirits and was glad to see everyone. She's not exactly the nicest person in the world so it made for a nice afternoon. Everyone pretty much got along which was totally surprising. I did have a very small piece of lasagna from Olive Garden which we brought in and a bunch of salad. After that, my sister and I went to Target to get a few more things for her baby. She started having some kind of pain as we were walking around so we went back to her house. She started feeling better so we didn't go to the hospital. The baby was moving around so we watched it for awhile. I'm ready to go as soon as I get the call! I'm just afraid he'll decide to come this Sunday when I have a wedding!

That's about it for me! I've gotta get some work done! I hope y'all have a great day!

Oh...Hottieinhiding....I was in colorguard too in HS!
