Smile Good Morning everyone

Hope we all had good weekends? I actually worked both sat and Sunday. Doing pretty "ok" on the whole weight loss things so far.

Since I am new here, does this board ( lwl) do any kind of challenge? I am always on the look out for something that will motivate me.

Hi all,

I got to bed late, then had a nightmare and called up a friend in hysterics, went back to sleep, got up at 4:40 and hit the gym for legs and 30 minutes on the elliptical. For some reason, my left quad is hurting. It didn't hurt after my leg day last Monday, it just started hurting on Friday. I worked it anyway but didn't do anything that caused pain.

I also bought new running shoes yesterday but when I put them on this morning, I noticed they slip slightly around the heel area so I am taking them back and will try to find something else. Sigh.....more shoe shopping

Tiki.

Good day chicks......
I have been MIA for a week now, had come down with a raw throat and slight cough, thought it was my allergies at first but then the cough got worse so thought my allergies was actually a cold. Anyway needless to say i got very sick at the beginning of last week and was down and out all week with a sinus infection. Lost my appetite, lost 4-5 pounds of no eating and no sleep to boot. So needless to say no exercise for this chick last week at all. I gained a few pounds back since eating again but still down 2 more pounds. I will be back at the gym tomorrow but I am on penicillan and sinus spray for 2- 3 weeks. I will be back at it soon enough and looking forward to challanging myself to losing some more weight, losing some inches. I ordered a new pair of runners and they will be in, in about a week, cannot wait to break them in. Well see you later chicks, glad to be back......

Hi everyone *waves*.

I had to work Saturday, and Sunday is always my "take the day off" day, so I really didn't get any exercise done this weekend. But I did add ten pounds to what I lift on Friday, so overall the week wasn't a bust. I could barely get through my routine at the higher weight. I hope it will be easier tonight!

to everyone, looks like we need it. Tiki, hope your leg starts feeling better, and Jen, hope the sickness continues to fade away. And Mel, here you go: Hee.

I'm taking the week off lifting to a) get my ankle completely healed and b) clean up my eating. It's Detox Week for Laura! I have been eating the most amazing crap because I've been busy, and it really needs to stop.

Boy, it sounds like you all need *hugs* and chicken soup. Hope everyone is feeling better soon. I am about 90% back from my Claratin kcikback. Had a good weight workout today and getting VERY excited about my 5K this weekend. Tomorow is yoga and my last big run. The weather here is still perfect and I am enjoying every second I can. Have a great week!

Hey, all. Another week in LWL land. I had a decent week last week... made it to the gym every day except one, when I substituted my first bellydancing class. What fun that was! I have no illusions that I'll ever be really *good* at it (I'm definitely not the most coordinated person on the planet), but it was great fun and a much better workout--especially core--than I'd expected. I could really feel it in my lower back (in a good way), my abs, and my hips the next day. And strangely, my husband has been encouraging me to practice.

Workouts have been pretty good. Still adding more free weight exercises and wearing out my legs on leg day. Plus, I have been doing run/walk intervals for cardio, which I've been enjoying. I am starting to think I really could be a runner (*unthinkable* at 265 pounds) and am seriously considering a race this summer!!!

It wasn't a terrific weekend with food choices (I really struggle with those weekends lately!!!!) but it wasn't horrible, either, with the exception of one Unplanned Barbecue Event that will remain further-undiscussed!

Sorry to hear so many of you are under the weather. Here's to spring colds and allergy season going away soon!

Hi all,

Ellen, I like your signature. I should add that to my fridge.

Okay got a confession y'all. I am NOT supposed to weigh in on Saturdays and I also said I wouldn't weigh in on the first few days of TOM cause I know I will spazz out about the scale. I weighed in anyway and the scale was up 3 pounds. I have been secretly kicking myself ever since. HOWEVER, although I am not supposed to take measurements for another 7 days, I took them today and there are 7.5 inches MISSING!!!! PLUS today I noticed that I am getting the definition back in the legs! Yay!!!!!!!

TIKI!! Way to go ... That darn scale but the tape never lies !!

Teapot and Ellen -- I have no doubt you'll both be great runners...... I love running it's a total addiction ...

Tealeaf -- Isn't lifting more # awesome!!

LKTS -- Taking a week off is always good... What do you do to detox, anything specific?

Welcome back New in town...

Penguinella -- If you want to start a Challenge Thread, maybe it'll kick some of us in gear (including moi) ... So don't be shy...

I had a very good day... I jogged to and from the gym, worked shoulders, then did a few loads of wash, then raked the lawn... I feel good and tired ...
and food was spot on too... 50% protein, I love those days!!

Thanks for the encouragement, Ilene, but I think I might have over done it. My bad knee started hurting today as I did my workout. Not real bad, but I've learned to listen to it very careful and not ignore it.

The last time it started hurting, I plain took two weeks off from lifting and cardio, and then everything was fine. But it was much worse then, and I'm 20 pounds lighter now. I'm thinking of still exercising, but at a slighly cut back pace. Setting my elliptical at 7 or 8 instead of 9, and just cutting out the leg extention and leg press for a week or so and see how it goes.

I really, really don't want to have to stop doing what is that I am doing! And I'm not going to pout (much) about or eat (much) chocolate to make things seem better.

Quick check in....good morning and hello all you LWL.

I love that cardio!!! After getting my cortisone shot, I've been able to move my cardio back up, and want to be as diligent as I can before the arthroscopy, because that will definitely set me back at least a month, if not more. Also have been pushing my upper body poundage, and am seeing a definite change...my shoulders have always been my weakest area, and I can now easily overhead press 10 lbs in free weights, and a few 12#.

Penguinella, I agree with Ilene, go ahead and start a challenge...I will join you, at least until my operation, and afterwards with the upper body.

Tik, yay on those inches! Did you already have the cheerleading workshop? Can't remember.

Ellen, good luck with the 5K! Think it's going to be overcast in our area, which should be good for running. Wish I could be here to cheer you on....will be in Nashville for DD and SIL's baby shower.

This baby shower should be a fun one...instead of the all girl one, it's going to be a big picnic for men and women...no games, just food and fun. First time I will be seeing my ex in almost two years so I am glad I am at...tada....a new low. Need to change my ticker, lost another pound.

This is a busy week, so I may not check in again before I leave....have a great week everyone.

Hi all,

Susan, yes, when seeing the ex, you definitely want to look good! Have a fun trip to Nashville.

Tealeaf, so sorry about the knee. You seem to have a good plan lined up to keep moving while getting it back in shape.

One thing that came up at the cheer conference that made me mad was a discussion on lifting weights. The manual stated that weight training was okay for JV and Varsity girls but they need to be careful about how much weight they were lifting. The instructor then said that they needed to make sure they didn't lift too much because they don't want to bulk up. I IMMEDIATELY stopped her and said no, the argument against lifting too much weight while a pre-teen or early teen is the danger of damaging the growth plates and stunting their growth. Lifting heavy weight would NOT cause bulking up unless they were on steroids. I couldn't believe the instructor made that dumb comment.

Today was a cardio only day - Tae Bo and MAN, it was hard doing those kicks cause my legs and bootay are SORE from yesterdays workout.

Tiki - thanks for appreciating my siggie. It has really become my personal motto and gotten me through quite a bit. I like the idea of it being with you, too.

Today was my last long (for me) "run" before my 5K Sunday. Then I had a great yoga session. I feel good about the 5K and am getting very excited. I am OK with the fact that I won't run the whole thing. The important thing is that I entered and will actually finish. Thank you all for your support and encouragment.

I forgot my book on tape, so watched TV during my "run" and caught Pamela Peeke on "Today". Has anyone read BFL for Women and do you have opinions? I know you all have opinions, but I mean on the book

Today has been one of those days where having a schedule is a good way to remind you how far behind you are. *hrmfff*

Susan -- You show that ex who the hot babe is now!! Have fun...

Tiki -- You shoulda swatted that instructor on the side of the head!! Argh, ''the bulk myth'' by pet peeve!!

Ellen -- Did Pamela Peeke write BFL for women? I'm just curious... I have no opinion, for once, cause I haven't read it

Today was another sqeaky clean day... I didn't have time to exercise but I did do over an hour of yard work...
