Question Is this right???

I've been stuck at 188 for the past 2 weeks. I've tried different things to get myself going again. I've started doing Walking Away the Pounds and TaeBo 6 days a week. I started drinking more water and no diet soda and of course, continue watch what I eat. I'd be really frustrated if I hadn't measured myself this morning. I've lost an inch in my waist, an inch in my hips, an inch in my thighs and a half inch in my arms. Is that possible to lose those inches but yet remain the same weight? I was just wondering because this is the first time this has happened to me. Usually when I lose inches, I also lose pounds.

Fear not - you are not alone. It's weird and I can't explain it either but the same thing happens to me. My clothes are much looser but the scale doesn't want to move. Don't give up - be happy for the lost inches - I think that's great!

Someone else can explain this better than me, but lean muscle weighs more than fat, but takes up less room on your body, and you need lean muscle to burn fat. So your body is working really well, but that's why you appear to be plateuing. So in real life, you are still losing fat, and gaining health, but on the scales you look stuck.

Keep going, your weight will start going down again. I have had my body fat measured at my gym, it might be worth asking your doctor or gym to do the same for you (on me they used this weird machine, where using electrical currents it can calculate how much water, fat and lean tissue you are made up of)

Thank you, that makes me feel much better. I did have a pleasant surprise when I weighed in this morning (yes, I know I shouldn't weigh in so often, but I couldn't resist). I have dropped 2 pounds. So, I think I'll just quit obsessing about it and just be patient.

For what I have learn in my trainings (Yoga and Pilates), muscle weighs more than fat. So, it is recommended NOT TO WEIGHT YOURSELF on the 3 first weeks of any training. At the beginning you are building muscle, so you may even weight more than what you started before working out. After a couple of weeks once you have built enough muscle you start burning more fat and the pounds start coming off. For that reason trainers usually tell you don't worry about how much you weight, but how your clothes fit. Without muscle there is no burning fat, just water loss.

Also don't do everyday the same workout. Keep your body guessing so you don't hit a plateu. Your body needs to be always surprised, so change workouts as often as you can, otherwise your body will get used to the same challenge and will build resistance to it.
Cheers.
