Smile Hi! I'm New:)

Hello All,

Wonderful forum you have here, lots of great advice! I am a college student, actually almost finished with my BA in English (literature), about to start a 1-year certification program to teach secondary English, and then planning to complete my MA, also in English.

So, over the last few years I've gained that notorious college weight! I really want to get back to a comfortable weight and build some muscle mass. My problem is that I can't seem to stick with it, no matter how determined I am in the beginning--it all seems to fade away within a few months. The sneakers begin to gather dust once again in the closet and the scale gets shoved under the bed, out of reach. *Sigh* Once I get busy and stressed, nutrition and exercise get put on the back burner. I am actually a healthy eater for the most part--lots of fruit and veggies, almost no meat. My #1 obstacle is COKE, I drink way too much of it!

So, this time I am making a commitment to stay committed! I know I am going to slip up from time to time, so I need to learn how to get back up when that happens, rather than say, "ah, what the ****, I screwed up so I might as well give up!"

Looking forward to learning a lot from this forum

hi sweet, welcome! i dont have much time to write now, but i wanted to welcome you. i am guessing that you don't like diet coke, right? i read somewhere about a trick where you fill the glass almost to the top with diet coke and then add in a shot of regular coke, it is supposed to taste like the real thing. i'm not sure though, i usually drink diet coke. i'll write more later... i hope to see you around alot!!

Thanks for the welcome I'll have to try that coke trick; I can't stand the diet coke aftertaste. I wish they would start making it with Splenda, which I think tastes better than any other artifical sweetner. I use it in everything.
Jenicra--how funny about the bakery, it's my dream to one day open a bakery called "The Sweetery" with my Dad! I know, not a very smart move for my waistline, LOL

Well as long as you open the bakery the day after you wire your jaws together! Oh boy! That sounds wonderful and horrible all at once!

welcome! i often wonder if i am doomed forever of until i change my job status... i currently work in a bakery and a natural/organic grocer. although i have had to retrain my brain and NOT eat all my goodies... it can be done! i just view it as a product that has to be sold to make my paycheck FATTER!!! and not my waistline lol. but its so hard. i have good coworkers who know if they see me attempting to eat anything to yell at me. lolol. so... i guess it just wanted to let you know that your dream can come true! you just have to have super willpower and know that *maybe* every once in a while you'll splurge... and to say hi! (and welcome )
