Hi Leenie,
Hi everybody,
Struggling to get back on track after the holidays. Scale was a bit scary this morning. But I must say, I was surprised that eating carbs didn't trigger me today. My cheat was served to me tonight by the dh. Apple pie. But before I saw it I was fine I think this is worth a try.
You had courage, lol, I hid my scale! I did ok, but am glad it's over. I like the holidays, but heavy meals seem like an obligation. Even if you just get a little of this and that, you still feel the effects of the richer food that are not your usual diet. I'm fine with carbs, but all the fat and sodium is another story. The only good thing I can say about it is that after it was all over, I found myself really CRAVING fresh fruits and vegetables, which is a great way to start the week!
It's a frigid morning in CA (28 degreesshiver). I just finished step aerobics, a Linda McMuffin and am slurping on my morning mocha. I LOVE unemployment! Have I mentioned that lately? Today is shaping up to be an expensive day. Car needs a new battery so I am off to Sears shortly to get one. There is a huge shopping mall next to it, so I'll have plenty to do while I wait. My poor checkbook!
While I loved the sweet potato salad that I made, you are right Suzanne.. I did feel the effects of it. It wasn't my normal fare and I am really glad I made only enough for two meals. Thank goodness the scale didn't go up. In fact I hope hope hope I can break through this stall I'm in very soon.
What bothered me more was the tiny piece of cheesecake I had a week ago at the church potluck. Thank God I said no to any leftovers because later that night I was craving that stuff badly. I always say, if it ain't there, you can't eat it.. save my flabby butt yet again! Donna Apple pie is my favorite. Good thing I am too lazy to make it.
I've decided to make breads this year rather than cookies or candy. It's safer since I am home. I make some yummy ones: Date Walnut, Toasted Coconut Banana Almond, Cranberry orange walnut and Lemon Almond. I make them in the tiny loaves so I'll have plenty to give for gifts.. it's cheaper than cookies too!
Leenie Beanie, what's shakin'?
Time for me to toddle off and plow through my email. What is everyone else going to bake/cook for Christmas? I am nosy!
Well, I have news. My baby(he'll be 22 in april) got engaged today. OMG!!!!
so my new goal is to look great at that wedding. I will be 46 when he gets married. (and my oldest will be 28 that yr and I want to look great) hope the motivation works. I've been pretty good today. Skipped the pie and had some lf wheat thins. Always a struggle though.
Congratulations, Donna! Isn't it exciting to see our babies all grown up? Though I must admit it makes me feel old, lol. My 24 year old baby is expecting his first child in March!
How's everyone? Soaking up the Mediterranean sun? I'm going to post some recipes later. This cold, wet weather isn't very motivating. I want to feel the warm dirt between my fingers as I tend my garden of herbs and veggies. Gosh, I can't wait till next summer. Maybe we should all move to Southern California - or Italy
Some one please pass the coffee I am dragging today. Didn't sleep well last night because an apple, of all things upset my stomach. I no longer can eat them raw, so I baked these but not long enough. Live and learn. Massive doses of caffeine will be required to set things right.
I am just digging winter, Suzanne, but as I have been reminded so often by chicks from NJ I don't get REAL winter here. I do admit to not liking winter as much as I used to however. Since I've lost weight, I am freaking cold all the time and winter is so much worse. I've just had to start investing in warmer clothing and lots of blankets on the bed. I really love this time of year and there are so many yummy foods that really taste better around now. Soups, stews, chilis, winter squashes.. etc My turkey soup this year came out wonderfully. Need to make a pot of something for next week.. maybe more pumpkin chili.
Congrats on the new baby and on the engagement. I am still practicing child rearing with the monster pictured in my avatar.
I need to go grab some coffee. I think the pot has brewed by now and I can't see straight. Happy Friday.
Sorry I've been MIA, the new boss man is keeping me on my toes, its just not fair I tell yah LOL....... he is very cute but he laughs like arnold horshack.... yeah... so does my DH so I'm surrounded LOLOL or is that heeeeeehaw heeeeeehaw snort snort snort.
I haven't been following med this week but I'm trying to get back on track. Lunches were veggie egg rolls which is good, but my night time eating didn't have alot of veggies in it. I will fix that starting today I think I'm gonna try to include salad in my dinners. I hate salad in the winter time but I gotta do something to fill up.
Yesterday was a bad day eating.... cheese cake factory for christmas lunch, cajun chicken littles......need I say more (they are cajun and NOT hot, wonderful I tell yah lol).

Hi ladies! Can I join up to be a Med. Chick?!?!
A little about me: My dh Randy and I live in an RV on the road working all over Canada & soon to be the U.S. We are both overweight after years of working in fast food management. So since we started on the road last January we have changed our eating habits drastically! We SIT down for a meal, neat concept eh? I think that's a huge thing for me. I can actually enjoy food now instead of gulping it down.
I LOVE med. food! I started following this type of eating after reading Dr Phils' books and learning more about my eating habits and problems. My problem? I love food! LOL! So the Med diet is great for me. I tinker in the kitchen and concoct wonderful foods with all those great fresh ingredients and olive oil, oh la la I love olive oil! My other fav food enhancer since changing my eating habit is Balsmatic Vinegar, love the stuff, I could almost drink it!!!
I was very excited to see this forum pop up! I can't wait to start getting recipes and sharing recipes with you all!

I just found this website: http://www.oldwayspt.org/pyramids/med/p_med.html]Med Diet Food Pyramid[/URL]
and I know that most of the info has already been posted here but I like the visual of the food pyramid. Just thought I'd post it in case someone else would like it as well!
