Help!! We are going on a driving trip up to San Francisco on Monday and I'm worried that I'm going to really go off program!!! I know that I should take some stuff with me, but, for some reason I'm really concerned that I will eat stuff that will not help me, at least stay where I am (184) I have been going up and down with my weight and I really have been trying to stay OP, but somehow the numbers are not co-operating. I really need some help and some ideas, so pleeeeese help me stay OP and give me some ideas on what to take and what to do to keep myself from eating things that I know I shouldn't have. I all most don't really want to go because I'm so afraid of eating too much of all the wrong foods. HELP!!
Thanks in advance.

First pack a bunch of low point foods like cereal in 1-2 point individual baggies. Bag up some veggies too. Ice them down and they're really good. When you eat out just stick with a large salad to start with and then something small and grilled. I recentely went to Phoenix and stopped at a gas stop and they had Subway. I had one of the Veggie Delight with no cheese. Really good. Also take a lot of water! You'll do fine just plan, plan, plan

San Francisco offers some of the best seafood in the country (I live in San Jose). If I were you, I'd stick with grilled seafood, a salad or steamed veggies and don't forget the world famous sour dough bread. It's even good without butter. Have a great trip!

How about packing some hard boiled eggs--you don't have to eat the yolks. I'd bring plenty of water, but also some raisins in individual boxes and Diet Coke and Just 2 Point bars. I don't know how long you'll be driving, but I'd pack a small cooler with a sandwich for lunch, individual V-8 cans, lots of veggies.
Once there, I'd follow the other girls suggestions and use all the dining out tricks you know. If you want to supply more details, we can help you even more. Like--what kind of restaurants will you be eating out, etc.
Subway is really a blessing . A turkey 6 inch hero sandwich is only six points if you leave off the cheese and mayo. and dressings.
I think you really want to do this and I know you can. Plan and prepare and make yourself proud.
Good luck.

That's easy!
Pack lots of things like mini rice cakes, dried fruits, fresh fruits, low fat granola bars, and other favorites.
When you stop for coffee and snacks, pick up bottled water, decaf, V8 juice, and low fat muffins.
You'll be just fine!!!!

I am leaving this afternoon for a 4 hour trip up my state to a meeting. I will have already eaten lunch and am going to pack an apple and a v8 for my after supper in the hotel before bed snack. I know that if I hit those vending machines, I am done for. As for tomorrow's meeting, they are very good about providing salad bars, lots of bottled water and diet soda, fruit. My problem is the lunch buffet. I know a lot of you do the buffet thing well, and stick with the op stuff, but I have a tendancy to see buffet and get out of control. One thing to my advantage is that my 16 yr. old daughter will be with me and she is great about reminding me why I am trying to lose weight without being mean about it. I figure grilled meat, veggies, etc will keep me on track until we get home very late tomorrow night.

I envy your trip to San Francisco. Eat some wonderful grilled fish for me, because I can tell you that in southern Illinois that is a difficult thing to get!!! Have a great time above all. I have figured out finally that life around us doesn't stop because we are doing Weight Watchers. That is one of the things I love about points. I can have my favorite foods if I plan well. There are still going to be trips, parties, birthdays, dinners, etc and we have to get in there and enjoy them!!!

Default Watch out for water though...

I hate to say it, but if you're like me...(bladder of a three year old it seems...) water could be an enemy on a long car trip! I'd be stopping every three seconds...

Bring some bubble gum (sugar free) too! It'll keep your jaws chomping, only there's no food in your mouth!

Good luck!

don't overworry!!!

Default Driving Trip

If you don't have Trader Joes near you there are a bunch in S Fran. Go to their web site and look up the addresses that will be close to where you are heading. www.traderjoes.com
Kashi Go Lean Crunch Cereal is a great 3 pt snack. You get a whole cup and very filling. Kashi Go Lean Choco Peanut Butter Bar is a great on the go lunch with your water and very filling. When we RV travel I always carry these in the truck along with the water bottles, and some hard candy.

Googies,
My first suggestions is you make up your MIND in advance ( and inform your body) that YOU are going on a trip and you do have a plan! It is just like when we go out to eat........we usually know whether we are going to "stick with our plan" or give ourselves permission to eat whatever we want!

Many people travel and love saving the money and calories by packing plenty of between meal snacks! Another advantage of car travel is you can replenish your supply by stopping at grocery stores when you exit for gas!

So much of it is how we mentally look at the entire situation! ll the suggestions in the worls wont help if we are afraid!

My family loves the snacks and knowing I always have things to munch on for travels..the sky is the limit as far as what you may take.......once you decide YOU WANT to do it!

Happy traveling!
