Smile Need a Buddy!

Hi! My name is Lauren - I'm 20 years old and a senior in college. I'm 5'3" - In high school, I weighed 115. By the time I got married a year ago, I was 125. I am now around 145. I need a buddy for some help here - I need moral support but more than anything, some accountability. My family is very supportive, but not very good about getting on my case if I don't stick to my plan. I am technically a member of Curves and also have free membership to my school gym and an awesome fitness center about 15 minutes away. I just have no self-control or willpower to make myself stick to a diet/exercise plan! I really want to lose weight now - my wedding dress was a size 4 and I now wear a (tight) size 8. I'm going to be buying some new clothes in a few months for my student teaching next spring. I'd love them to be in a smaller size! Also, within a few years, my husband and I would like to have our first child. I have heard from many of my friends how much harder it is to lose weight after children, so I'd really like to be in great shape before getting pregnant. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you - I'd especially like a buddy or two to keep me in line!!!

Hi Lauren! I am Gabrielle. I am 22 years old and a housewife. I am 5'2" and 155 lbs. In highschool I was no more the 120 but when I started college I gained about 40 lbs. Once I got married, I gained a little more and then once I had my daughter I was up to 180. I have lost alot of that but would like to lose more. I want to be at around 130 if not lower. My husband is very supportive but if I don't wake up in the morning in order to exercise he doesn't see much of a problem until I start to complain about my body again. Other then that I don't have family around here. After having our daughter, Curves helped but since we moved, I haven't gotten back into any gyms. I don't have anyway of going since I have noone to watch her while I go to the gym (I have access to a few free gyms here but no childcare). It isn't that I don't have self contol, I just don't have the energy to do it some days (it is either get up and go before 5 in the morning- before my husband goes to work and Jasmine wakes up- or not go at all). I want to get into anywhere from a 4 to a 6 and hope to do it before March of next year. I also want to keep it off which is the hard part since I lost 30lbs in a very short time but it came back even quicker.

If you would like I can keep in touch with you for that. I need the push too so that would be beneficial for both of us.

Sounds great! It sounds like we have a lot in common. How old is your daughter? My husband and I are very eager to have children, but I want to be a little more stable financially first. My husband has a similar attitude - he is certainly supportive, but if I don't stick to my diet/exercise plan, he doesn't see the problem. It is also harder for me because he has gained a lot of weight, too, and does absolutely nothing about it!!! Not much motivation there for me! Talk to you soon!

My daughter is 16 months. We aren't where we should be but we are fine with it. I don't think you have it harder... my husband doesn't do anything but go to work and eat. Problem is, he is losing weight. Soon he will be weighing less then me WITHOUT trying. I hate it and it discourages me but he just can't seem to gain it. He has a muscular build but since he hasn't been going to the gym or anything, it just seems to fall off of him and he was trying to gain it. I think that angers me more then anything else... especially since he thinks that it is funny.

Hey!!! Some of these stories sound pretty close to me I'm a 20 year old college senior about to graduate in December and would like to weigh in the 140 at the end of my college career. I'm 5'2" 166 right now, so that seems a long way off but I think it would be somewhat realistic as long as I stick to it. I've struggled with weight most of my life, but usually am never really this heavy and it's kinda freaking me out right now (the new weight gain comes in part from eating with the new hubby - whew, at least he's gained weight too . We're both working to lose weight now, but it'd be great to have a gal pal to share with!!!

Gabrielle- that would frusterate me too! I didn't mean to say my situation was the worst out there - I know it's not. I was basically just venting my frustration! =)

Bluecreek - yes, I understand about gaining weight from eating with hubby! It's so hard to diet when your husband is eating whatever he wants! Also, what part of Houston are you from? My husband and I both grew up in the Spring/Woodlands area and are moving back there in december.

Unhappy

I was thin all my life until I was placed on anti-deppresants. Within 2 yrs. I went from a size 6 to a 14.
I am in Longview Tx. and am looking for someone to excercise with. I just can't keep myself motivated and would really like to find someone to walk and work out with. I am a single mom on a non-existent budget so can not join a gym. I would like to try things like tennis (begainers), roller skating, and anything alike you can suggest as well as aerobics. I want working out to be as fun as possible. If anyone here is in my area contact me.

I wish we were closer to each other! I would love to have a workout buddy! My mom and I used to work out together when I lived at my parents' house and I really miss it.
