Roast Chicken is a good option, stay away from the spaetzle, its nice and buttery.
Germans typically start out each meal with an amazing array of salads -- cabbage, shredded celariac, carrot, green salad. These may unfortunately be in either a vinegarette or a cream based dressing. What I did last week in Germany was drain off the dressing.
In my recollection, most restaurants do have roast chicken, some sort of roast pork and then lots of things in cream sauces.
