Default I'd like a buddy - having trouble getting started

I'm 40, almost 41. Back in 1998 I weighed nearly 400 pounds, but had WLS to lose weight. Then 2 years ago met my "better half" who is a snacker. . . and regained some weight. Then last year during my pregnancy I developed some really bad habits. . .no pickles and ice cream cravings for me - it was hamburgers (after not eating meat for 5 years). I can't seem to get back on the wagon.

I was looking for low fat muffin recipes and ended up on this site. Was hoping that in doing so, I could find motivation. . .. I have two choices. . lose some weight, or buy new clothes. . .I'd rather do the first.

I gave birth to twins in November, so find it hard to make time to exercise - tired all the time - but am working on changing that. . .

Deb - Any idea what type of program you would like to do? I would love to help and be a buddy to encourage, but I know about what I do. I'd be interested in what type of plan you have or are considering.

Talk to you later ~ Lori

I was planning on counting fat & calorie grams, and trying to walk. I know the current "in" thing is the reduce carbs - but at this point thought I'd stick with something I was more familiar with. . . .

Thank you for asking - I didn't think to share that in a buddy search - but it would help in making a good support match.

Deb!! Hi and welcome to 3FC!!!

You will find excellent support here!! I currently do South Beach Diet which many think is low carb but it is NOT!! It is a good carb and good fat diet, I have fallen in love with it as a way of eating! Have you looked in to it? But just try and find a program that works with you and fits your lifestyle

I just had my second child in october so I know how that struggle goes Have you also checked out the WLS boards here? Jiffypop is a Moderator there and such an inspiration, I find myself just looking for her posts, even though I haven't had WLS.

If you ever need to talk or need advice, I'm here just send me a pm!
Good Luck!
Michelle

I looked at the WLS board, but it seemed to be people about to have surgery, etc. Wasn't sure if I was a fit there since I had it done so long ago. . .just looking to get back on the wagon.

I've heard of the South Beach Diet, but no - haven't looked into it.. . .I will. Thank you!

Congratulations on your 28 pounds!!

Deb,

It's so difficult for me to imagine being at the start line again. I just picked a program, educated myself about it and jumped in. In my case it was the Atkins Program. But from many others I've heard the same thing. Read the material here and/or purchase a book. It seems to help if the book has recipes, but I've found the recipes here even more helpful than the ones in my book.

Also, I've found that planning days on my calendar to exercise usually helps. If it is there and I'm looking at it all day, I feel guilty if I don't get it accomplished! Not to mention you are mentally preparing yourself to get out and get moving on certain days.

Good luck and You will do great at whatever plan you choose!
